Random Rogue/Gambit Headcanons

Because that ask meme made me think of things.

1. In their public lives, Rogue and Remy are fairly poised, but in private they can be HUGE FREAKING DORKS. When they’re stressed after missions, they decompress by being stupid at home: sometimes they mute movies and improvise new dialogue (always absolutely nonsensical - they have to pause the movie until they stop laughing at their own stupidity sometimes), others they have impromptu karaoke with the worst music they can find...the list goes on. They don’t have them often, but some of their fondest memories are of their dorky de-stressing sessions.

2. Neither of them had much of a childhood, so they both love childish things more than they care to admit. Like the above, it’s rare that they indulge themselves in them, but sometimes they do. They’ve DEFINITELY built a wildly elaborate blanket fort and slept in it, and routinely dare each other to do stupid things.

3. Both of them have surprisingly good singing voices, but Rogue never wants to sing if anyone is in earshot. Remy doesn’t care as much, in large part because he knows Rogue loves to hear him.

4. Remy is a massive Celine Dion fan. Almost no one knows this, and the few people who do have no idea why he’s so obsessed with her music (they like to tease him about it), but nevertheless, he is.

5. On occasions when they can’t touch, Rogue often asks Remy to braid her hair, since that’s pretty low-risk. He takes this responsibility Very Seriously, so he’s gotten very good at it.

6. Rogue and Remy take any type of competition waaaay too seriously. Whether or not they’re on the same team, they are both doggedly determined to win - perhaps even moreso when they’re on opposite sides. This applies to everything, from the innocuous - trivia nights and video games (Mario Kart with these two is a BLOODBATH) - to more serious things like their arguments. They never forget who won what and the lengths to which they’ll go to win at anything are nearly alarming.

7. Rogue loves road trips and camping but Remy is vehemently against any vacation that doesn’t involve first-class flights and a posh hotel. He agrees to road trips very occasionally, but they’re decidedly not his thing; that doesn’t bode well for Rogue’s goal of visiting every National Park in the United States (there are 59).

8. Rogue tends to admit things she shouldn’t when she’s sleep-deprived, while Remy becomes exceedingly cranky and difficult to be around.

9. Both of them want kids [that part’s very much canon] because they want a chance to be the parents that their parents weren’t. They’ve particularly considered adopting children because they both had issues with their adoptive parents in their childhoods and want to spare a child like themselves with no place to go the hard upbringing that they had.

10. Remy has a great eye for aesthetics, which makes him very stylish and surprisingly good at design-type things. (Have y’all seen the panels of his apartment? It’s hecking DANK.) It probably both stems from his focus on good presentation and the way he presents himself to others.

11. Rogue is constantly turning the air conditioning in their apartment to the approximate temperature of the Antarctic winter. She’s always hot, and Remy is forever complaining about the AC bill she runs up trying to get herself cool enough to sleep.

12. Rogue (canonically) loves to read, so sometimes they’ll read to each other. (*always* while snuggling. *Always.*) Remy would die if anyone ever found out, but he gets super into it and does different voices for each character. This is especially funny when it’s a pulpy romance novel and the dialogue is ridiculous to begin with.

Manifesting

Someone needs to write a season 2 fic where Rogue tries to bring Remy back by absorbing the evil out of Deathbit like she did to Archangel in XTAS, only for it to not work. Then Deathbit grins at her wickedly and says, "Sorry, mon amie... Death is too good for you."

It would be gut-wrenching and cruel, but... I kind of want to see it lol.

Please tell me more about all the cat dad servers Gambit is on (you know he joins every single one and makes his own).

He has discord membership and collects emojis from them to spam on rogue occasionally. She's still trying to understand how this all works and is confused on where he's getting them.

He is even part of a cat costume making server, and a professional pet photography server.

He has been banned a few times from servers though when he started spamming pics of his wife after sharing some pics of her with the cats....someone got him talking about rogue and he could not shut up.

He doesn't regret it though. The only true bad experience is the time he ended up in a server labeled discord kittens, thinking it was about people with baby kittens, but then he found out what it really was, threw up, and immediately left.

Back to nice stuff though: he also has a TikTok where he shares memes he does with his cats.
