I almost went cross-eyed in SimPe but I completed my first default replacement! Swatches and download below the cut.

I thought kahdesta's mesh edit of afbottomslinkyskirtboots was so cute and totally fit the 90s/Y2K style that's popular right now (is it still popular? Or am I just old?) and I've been wanting to learn how to do default replacements for ages, so I thought this would be a nice first project. I used a couple of kahdesta's recolors as well as goat's. Should work for both AF and YAF.

Now that I'm a defaulting ~expert~ let me know if there's anything you'd like to see replaced and I can give it a shot!

random sim build ramblings

I've decided that, instead of focusing on one build at a time in Calcinidae Bay and getting it to "mostly done" territory before I start working on another one, it's better to start a bunch of builds/lots but intentionally not develop them beyond a "I can tell what this lot is meant to be and have a vague idea of its aesthetics in relation to its surroundings" surface-level.

Basically I think it will actually work better for me to focus on quantity over quality for a little while, then go back and build up the quality gradually. That's kind of what I'm already doing anyway. I feel like I have to slog through a lot until it's "finished", but even when it is I inevitably go back and continue changing and adding and fine-tuning stuff for weeks/months until I really consider it finished/shareable. And as I've been working on bigger and bigger lots I've had to leave more of them unfinished while I start/work on others or else I get worn out, and I'm discovering that actually works well for me - despite what I'd feared, I actually DO go back and finish those lots later!

So essentially I'm just embracing all of this on purpose in order to get a better sense of how Calcinidae works together as one cohesive city. If I get a bunch of them to a rough-draft stage, I can start playing around with their hood placement, and start being more intentional about how the lots relate to and bounce off each other... otherwise I'm trying to do it retroactively with lots that weren't designed with each other in mind. I just want to start filling the town out a bit more to get a lay of the land, so to speak, then hop around from lot to lot whenever I feel like it or get inspiration.

Pink Flashing Solution

This tutorial is someone else's work, I'm just bringing light to it since it literally saved my sims game.

I'm sure this has been done before, but I went ahead and took off the lipstick from the Mrs. Claus facepaint so I had a cute freckly blush, and made a few recolors to go with it. I was gonna take some in game photos but my sim posing skills are kinda lacking, so here are some body shop swatches.

I added these to both the face paint category and the makeup category. You can have both in game with no issues - you can even stack them and make some pretty new colors!!

Abandoned Factory - a CC FREE residential lot

If you were in need of more repurposed warehouses here you go!

This residential lot features a factory that has worn down a bit over the years. I was really inspired by the early 20th century factories that had a mix of very ornate architecture with some haphazard/unsafe construction. Maybe one of your sims can spruce the place up! I'll be using it as a hub for my Pleasantview werewolf clan ;)

The first floor consists of the main manufacturing area and shipping platform, as well as a receiving dock that looks to have been taken over by some rebellious youths. There's also a small overgrown yard which you can use to access the dumpsters. The second floor has an area for clerical work, bathrooms, a break room, a makeshift bedroom, and some offices/store rooms. The roof can be accessed via the fire escape, and comes highly recommended for smoke breaks and gossip. There are also a few skylights up here to help brighten up the second floor. (Yes you can see into the bathrooms from one of the skylights...pay that no mind). Please let me know what you think! This lot has NOT been playtested so if you encounter any issues I will do my best to fix them. Sinclair Loft Apartments - CC FREE

A set of studio apartments in a renovated warehouse. CC Free but probably uses almost all EPs and SPs.

This lot features 3 apartment units (ranging from $2094 - $2299), a small lobby, and an outdoor basketball court. If you want to keep the furniture I placed in the units, make sure "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" has been entered then shift-click on the apartment door to rent furnished.

There are a few small differences on the actual lot compared to the pictures:

The lobby bathroom doors and fire exit doors are now green and red respectively, rather than blue.

The stoves pictured (from University) did not have a "bake" option so I swapped them out for ones that did.

Only the third floor unit has been play tested, let me know if there are any issues with the other two. Enjoy!

Remington House - a "haunted" community lot

First upload to my simblr! I've noticed a lot of creators migrating their stuff here so I figured I would do the same.

I've made a Victorian inspired house for all your future Halloween/seance/ghost tour needs. I like to imagine the family living here met an untimely fate, which led to the city taking it over and opening it to the public. Many visitors experience unnatural phenomena here, and are taken aback by the…unusual interior design of the basement.

The reason I call this house "not-so-haunted" is because I didn't actually place any tombstones/urns here, so as to not corrupt your game. But there is a nice garden that's perfect for placing your own deceased sims c:

I'm not sure how many packs I used, but I'm pretty sure most of you have UC at this point so hopefully it's not a problem.
