Fellowship height check!

Had a craving to experiment a bit more with outfit type designs? I honestly struggled, it’s definitely out of my comfort zone (as probably shown by the awkward posing lmao) but this was a lot of fun still. I tried to keep these heights somewhat book accurate, although I’m not sure when this image would be set given that:

-it features the cloaks they’re given at Lothlorien even though Gandalf is still alive (and grey)

-Pippin and Merry are extra tall because I drew them at their heights post Ent-draught (I imagine they would have been between Sam/Frodo beforehand)

Also Legolas’s only height description is “as tall as a young tree” which I took to mean very tall (6’10”)?? And Aragorn’s canon book height was 6’6” which I’m very surprised by as a movies fan (where he was a measly 5’11”). Gandalf is of course the ideal height of 5’7” (we have this in common)

Also I took creative liberties with the hobbits, sorry Tolkien. If you didn’t want me to make them into little creatures you shouldn’t have given them hairy feet and burrows sorry mate.

Rewatched lord of the rings yesterday and I’m honestly still so in love with it. The whole franchise just brings me so much comfort :)

I think Sam's utter lack of compassion for Smeagol is at least in part because his disgust was entirely untempered by the pity you feel for a corruption you can relate to. He couldn't see the potential to become like Smeagol in himself the way Frodo could. He had never looked into his beloved uncle's eyes and seen the greedy hunger of Gollum staring back because of the ring and what it does to its bearers. But Frodo had and could, and that tempered his horror with pity and compassion.

Sam could never describe in words, nor picture clearly to himself, what he felt or thought that night, though it remained in his memory as one of the chief events of his life. The nearest he ever got was to say: 'Well, sir, if I could grow apples like that, I would call myself a gardener. But it was the singing that went to my heart, if you know what I mean.'

Frodo sat, eating, drinking, and talking with delight; but his mind was chiefly on the words spoken. He knew a little of the elf-speech and listened eagerly. Now and again he spoke to those that served him and thanked them in their own language. They smiled at him and said laughing: 'Here is a jewel among hobbits!'
