not at all saying this excuses her actions, but i think it’s a way more compelling character motivation. like yeah if some guy spent his whole life staring at my friend but never actually talking to her, i’d be keeping an eye on him too. (but i definitely also think that annoying him is also just fun to her)

sometimes found family is the crotchety old man who runs a local tourist trap who you decided is now your new dad because he hired you as a little kid and you never left (gravity falls)

but also, sometimes found family is your roommate-turned-best-friend-turned-boyfriend, and his parents who are way better guardians than your own messed up family (star vs the forces of evil). (or in my favorite interpretation: sometimes found family is your boyfriend and his loving parents, your and your boyfriend’s girlfriend and her loving moms, and you and your boyfriend and your girlfriend’s other boyfriend. but that’s just me.)

or maybe, found family is the ragtag group of friends you make while trying to save the land from an evil fire overlord. people who you don’t feel the need to call your brothers or sisters or any sort of romantic partners (with like one exception), but they’ve undoubtedly become your family through all of these trials and joys and tragedies (avatar). AND maybe in alternate universes created by fans, different creators have decided certain pairings have decided to be siblings or romantic partners or whatever, because fandom is about bringing your own unique take about the characters to the table and different interpretations of the characters we know and love is what makes it fun!

all of that word salad is to say that i love found family and putting all the different kinds under a microscope <3

chat i went to momocon yesterday with my wonderful friends @lil-oreo-crumbles and liz and HAD THE BEST DAY IN THE HISTORY OF EVER??!!! I cosplayed as Star and met a whole TON of awesome cosplayers (would’ve tagged more people but I didn’t get their socials oops) and also DARON NEFCY AND ADAM MCARTHUR?? Shoutout to absolutely everyone I met yesterday, it was even more wonderful than I could’ve imagined!! Super excited to go to the panel later today!! (More rambling about meeting them is under all the pics!!)

It was wonderful getting to talk to Daron about how fun being in this fandom has been since I re-entered in July of 2024, and how working on fan projects for it and studying these characters has been such a joy and taught me about my creative process and also led me to meeting the two wonderful people I went to this con with?? She is so incredibly sweet and it was such a joy!

And it was also wonderful getting to talk to Adam, he is such a cool and chill and awesome person and we paid him to say a stupid inside joke that’s beloved to our friend group and will provide us endless serotonin for a very long time. And also connecting about how Star Vs’s ending being so open-ended can actually be a really fun thing because of how much creative opportunity it gives the fandom?? This is something our friends and I have been talking about for so long, and it’s just so awesome to hear that sentiment :D. And also he gave my friend applesauce?? True story, look at the pic we got with him!!

I also got to give out a bunch of stickers that I made to fellow cosplayers, and even a couple to Daron and Adam!! I’m actually printing more tonight with my friends in our hotel room hehe… wanna be able to give out a bunch tomorrow to people at the panel!! So excited!! I can’t wait!!
