It was the first Joel fic I ever read, back in 2023, and definitely played a part in developing my love for fandom again as an adult. Thinking of a Place Part V really opened a wound my ex first made. I see some of him in Kendall which is why I think I feel so much empathy for Kendall. I poured so much love into him and he threw it back in my face so many times and I went back time and time again, sacrificing myself and well-being again and again. This chapter really reminded me of it all. I'm still working through it and trying to heal. Thank you for writing such a realistic tug of war of what it's like to love an addict <3 I'm glad this one had a happy ending x

i'm sorry to hear it opened a wound. as someone who has also loved an addict, and was stuck in a toxic situation of back and forth for a long time (and lowkey still am, he always tries to find a way back into my life!!) i relate. but it sounds like you are taking the right steps to move on and heal, and i wish you all the best! <3
