A Project Runaway.
It’s all about fashion. Last September 28, 2015, our class held a mini fashion show in our classroom. We have to choose between the themes casual, semi-formal or formal look. It is by partner wherein one of which will be the fashion consultant and the other will be the model.
This fashion show consists of teenagers. The outfits are mostly for teenagers, as well, but it also can be tried by others since the outfits are easy to copy. I have seen different variation and styles that was shown in the ramp and most of the consultants chose the casual look. Some went for a grunge-punk style. There are also different cocktail-like flowy dresses that looks good for formal event, an outfit as a student, etc. As for me, my partner is Alliah Kristine Vega – she is the model, I am the consultant, I chose the theme casual for her too. Her outfit is Tumblr inspired which consist of a simple lose-hanging top and a flowy black shorts. I added the denim jacket that made the look more casual and beautiful. As for her footwear, I chose her boots that made her petit body stand out. She has her small handy sling bag where she can put her phone, hanky, etc. Her make-up is light and natural. (Because I do not want her to look too formal with the look!) Especially, I wanted her to feel comfortable and easy so that she can still enjoy while feeling beautiful with the chosen outfit.
“People will stare. Make it worth their while.” says Harry Winston. Fashion is everywhere – even your simple ‘home’ clothes. With what Harry Winston said, let the people see the true beauty in you. Do not be insecure with your wrinkles, freckles, marks or scars. Instead, let it be part of what you are – to embrace who you are. Never underestimate yourself. That’s what fashion is about, how you carry yourself with your clothes. Walk confidently and let them see what you want them to see.

Industrial Design Critique: Collapsible Animative Mannequin by Hyunji Son.
The Collapsible Animative Mannequin made by Hyunji Son is as the name suggests, the mannequin can collapse into flat sheets and can be rolled up for a low cost easy transportation. It also comes with a stand that can put it into a motion that kinds of gives it a show of different gestures, attitudes, movements to better present the clothing or other products for the audience. Speaking of audience, the mannequin focuses on developers such as designers and/or store managers because with the use of the new version of this mannequin, it makes their clothing and/or products look more interesting for their audience since it is not only for the aesthetic purposes. For example, if a woman is pregnant and buying for maternity clothes, yes, a static/normal mannequin can give a figure of a woman who's pregnant but it can't give a figure of it moving thus lessening the product's reliability in terms of it being used.
This product can offer a lot of benefits as you can read from what we said before. The mannequin can be collapsed into flat sheets and rolled therefore making it easier for designers and the like to use then have a presentable model for your customers. Let us say, you're a clothing store owner and transporting mannequins can cost a lot because of its weight and size and you can't just stock it all in your car, you have to rent a truck for it to be moved but with the Collapsible Animative Mannequins, you can easily roll it all up, stock it in your car and be on your way. Also, of course as a store owner, one of your main focus is to have profit and using the Collapsible Animative Mannequins does not only catches the attention of customers but ensures your clothing's purpose and/or intention for your customers. Thus, lessening the work of advertising it yourself to the customer which in many cases can annoy a customer because a customer want to be the one in charge of his/her attentions, without you asking for it, the customer gives it himself/herself therefore making them feel the ones in charge since it was their choice if they want to give attention to the mannequin or not.
The static/normal mannequins have a big difference from Collapsible Animative Mannequins and are quite obvious. They do not only change in form but they also decrease the expenses and increase the likelihood of gaining profit. From the examples before, you can see the big difference we are giving to you about. As customers ourselves, looking through products we know that we would be more interested and pause if we’ll see a mannequin that models the product for us, instead of mindlessly walking through the store not minding the static/normal mannequins since frankly, we're used to it. With the Collapsible Animative Mannequins, we know that shopping can be made more enjoyable for the customers.
We will definitely recommend this product for it is highly in terms of fashion and affordability. This is very useful for stores owners for this can attract customers that could help in their businesses. With the mannequins modelling the clothes, the costumers may see their self if they are the one whose wearing it. They would know how to rock that clothing with the help of the modelling mannequin. It is very helpful for designers, too, for they would know how their product will look like when it is modelled. This will also help them in terms of measurement and it is very handy. This is surely an A+!

Film Review: The Hundred-Foot Journey.
The Hundred-Foot Journey. It is a comedy-drama film directed by Lasse Hallström which is produced by Juliet Blake, Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey. It is a screenplay by Steven Knight and is based on ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’ by Richard C. Morais. It is a movie wherein it allows you think of the possible plot but will end you up struck due to its wittiness of the characters, different plot twists and eye-catchy, tummy-growling food that you’ll see. It became a box office hit which had a total of $88,880,821 as the film income.
The story started when Hassan’s mother died. They were from Mumbai in India and decided to move to Europe to work overseas and find the perfect ingredients for their dishes. When they were on their way, their brakes broke on top of the hill and was bumped to a hometown girl named Marguerite, who is a sous chef at an upscale restaurant named “Le Saule Pluereur”, who helped them find a place and made them supper. They looked for a place to build a new Indian restaurant but the only place they saw was across Madame Mallory’s “Le Saule Pluereur” which is famous for having a One-Michelin star. Madame Mallory did not want any rival with her eatery so she and Hassan’s father had some conflict. With all those things happening, Hassan fell inlove with Marguerite. Little did Hassan know that his ability to cook tasty, savory dishes will make all their lives change in a better way.
Over all, the movie was marvelously fascinating. The plot twists and how the movie flows were surprising. There were times that I doubted some of the scenes but as we went through, I understood why the story was written that way. I liked the movie, not only because of the food that was served and made but, because of how the characters portrayed their roles and the totality of the movie – the soundtrack, it was very good. It was related and accurate in each scene. The scene that stricken me most was when Hassan finally met his success because that was his and his mother’s dream. Of course, our path in life will not always be faced forward. We will go through a lot of struggles and as a person, we must make those struggles our motivation to move further so that we can move on and will be soon kissed by success. I would recommend this movie to all because even a kid could learn from it by how Hassan’s family bonded. They would learn the importance of family, culture and tradition. This is a must see movie. A four star film it is!

Book Review: Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is written by Jane Austen and was first published in 1813. It is published in Great Britain by William Collins Sons and Co Ltd. It has 96 pages and costs $2.24. Jane Austen was an English novelist whose works were mainly romantic fiction. She is one of the most read authors of English Literature. Her works critique 18th century and 19th century. In her stories, most of her plots were about the dependence of women on marriage to secure social standing and economic security. She also wrote “First Impressions”, “Sense and Sensibility”, and other short stories.
Pride and Prejudice is a good example during the 18th and 19th centuries. It tells about how women lived during that time, who lacked their own fortune and had to marry for security and happiness. This story is about Elizabeth Bennet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, who is intelligent and quick-witted. She has issues about marriage and morality. The story begins when people of Meryton scurry to marry their daughters to Charles Bingley, who is a young man from England with a large fortune. At the Village’s welcoming ball, Elizabeth meets up with Fitzwilliam Darcy, who piques her to new heights of antagonism.
I must say, this is a well-written book. If you are after a romantic-satisfying book, this is the one you should read. The characters are thrilling. There are different personalities played by the characters. You will surely be annoyed at some and love, some. It deals about women, people’s pride, vanity and prejudices.
Elizabeth Bennet is my favorite character. She is a strong girl and she fights for her rights. She is not afraid to admit when she is wrong. Some women in those time were marrying those who are wealthy and has an economic status because they think that it is necessary and this is true happiness. To Elizabeth, marriage is about marrying your true love. She doesn’t believe in happiness in social economic status. Mr. Bennet was a headstrong person, the father of the five daughters. I loved how he annoys her wife and I loved his character for he is very witty. Mrs. Bennet, mother of the Bennet sisters, was the person I would want to be with, if I were will be in an island. She is very annoying and she always boss around. If she is a real person, I would tell her to shut up and zip her mouth closed. Kidding. As for Elizabeth’s sisters, Jane, Catherine (Kitty), Lydia and Mary, they wanted to marry officers and those who are wealthy because they think that they are better than anyone else for they will have money and good social status. Mr. Collins is a fool, every time he speaks, it seems that he loves annoying people out. Mr. Darcy, oh dear Mr. Darcy, he is very endearing yet infuriating at the same time.
This is the theme: Valuing your life and your family, importance of one’s decision and trust. These are the things I learned in the story. There is this quote that says, “Women fancy admiration means more than it does." "And men take care that they should." It stricken me for this is a fact. Women admire everything they see. They want everything to be beautiful. As for myself, I practice admiring the world, its features, as well as the ad-ons and negativity.
In totality of this book, I am in awe. I loved the plot and how it was written. I loved how the characters portrayed their role, they were effective that they made me feel annoyed, laugh and feel different feelings. I loved the plot twists, every plot twist, I would say “WHAT?” and move on. I loved everything in this book. Jane Austen is a marvelous novelist. I now understood why she is praised by many. This is the kind of book you would want to read all over again.

“Art for arts sake”
Art is the aesthetic of life. It can be a painting or a writing. It can be collected or kept. It is everywhere; and to have further insight about arts, we went to Vargas Museum in UP Diliman.
Art walk – A visit to an art museum. A week before July 28 2015, two of our teachers informed us that we will go to an art museum. It was still unknown where. Our class was very excited and the fact that, I, myself, was expecting this kind of trip. After a few days, it was said that we will go to Vargas Art Museum at UP Diliman.
July 28, 2015. The weather was hot and moist. It was around ten o’clock in the morning when we arrived at the destination. As we went inside, we were deeply amazed how the art works were arranged. The first thing that you will see is the sculpture of a baby in an aquarium. The art works were arranged accordingly. It was a three story building. In the first and third floor, you can see the artworks that were made mainly with watercolors, acrylic paints, oil and pen in canvas and some sculptures. At the second floor, it was magical for all historians and those who truly love history. They gave us a brief background about who Jorge B. Vargas is and during the Commonwealth Period. There are a lot of art works that were preserved and some of the artists featured was Juan Luna, Felix Hidalgo and Fernando Amorsolo.
I was truly amazed how the artists produced their works. As one, I know watercolor was very hard to control but as I saw their works, It was completely utterly beautiful. There was also several photographs that the artists took. They were giving emphasis with the lightning and its power to produce a wonderful photograph.
Worth it. A phrase to describe the whole trip. It was a place to escape reality and just appreciate. This is the trip that you would want to do again. It was very magical for me - not because I truly love art, well, that’s one of the reasons but - because you will learn and discover that despite it was during the Commonwealth Period, our artists were able to produce this kind of masterpieces. Also, you would see the greatest artworks of the youth like us. The only thing that I bothered me was the time limit. We were there for just an hour or so, and as for me, I love staring and appreciating at every detail of a specific work. All throughtout the visit, we were in awe. For thirty five peso entrance fee, I assure you, you would want to visit it again afterwards.
Appericiate every little thing. That is the key to see life as a wonderland. Art is the way of living and communicating. For me, art should not be defined because we all have our own definition of it. This is a persons perspective and there could be a reason behind her definition. Also, we are unique - we always say this. We have different thinking and way of appreciating one’s work. As you go to this musuem, you will realize and say: “You don’t need to be an artist just to be called an 'artist'. I am an artist and I am living with pure aesthetic.”
