I have nothing against people who enjoyed Milly's performance better but one thing I noticed and the reason why i absolutely adore Emma is because they like...move like a dragon?? Just the way they sometimes cock their head to the side and move their neck and shoulders is so animalistic in a way that honestly makes me feral. And I noticed that this behaviour is particularly present in the scenes between Rhaenyra and Daemon, like they truly awake the dragon in eachother.

I just want to elaborate further and say this. Yes, I understand the difference between fiction and reality. And if all that was shown was Aegon being negleted and suffering and we as an audience were only *told* he SA'd someone, then i would get your point. Because again this is media not reality and the victim here not only doesn't really exist but you as a spectator would have no attachment or connection to them whatsoever, so I understand symapathizing more with the character whose struggle you see the most.
What i am wondering is, how the fuck do you go through an excruciating scene of a young girl crying and sobbing to the point you can barely understand her, trying to tell the queen her son SA'd her while terrified that she wont be believed. Watching as this power figure is sympathetic but still unable and unwilling to compromize her son, so instead she threathens her into silence while pretending to look out for her. How do you watch that and STILL go poor honey darling was forced to take the throne, he deserved better :(.
No honey, you saw with your own two eyes, so i'm not about to emphatize with the rapist crème brûlée fan club
I literally need people to tell me how they like Aegon Targaryen because yes he was put into a shit position and given a crown he did not want and sure his brutality towards the ratcatchers can be explained (even if not excused) by grief but what about the little detail that he's literally a r*pist???

Looked at my replies and I feel like i need to specify: i have nothing against finding an awful character entrateining and discussing them, i'm talking specifically about fans who belive he's just a poor victim of circumstance who's never done anything wrong. That the neglet he went through excuses his behaviour. Of course he's an interesting and complex character, still a rapist tho, no mommy issue excuses that.

Went to a sort of fantasy festival the other day and the most awsome thing i saw by far was a girl dressed as Rhaenyra holding up a lighter to light a cigarette for another girl dressed ad Daenerys and saying 'Dracarys'

the tragedy of rhaenyra and alicent is that they cannot ever truly see the other without destroying the foundations of their own self-image. rhaenyra cannot see alicent as a child married to a man old enough to be her father because that’s rhaenyra’s father. and the image she has of both viserys as a just and kind man and of herself as the beloved daughter of that man would collapse under the weight of that realisation. the resentment she holds against alicent would have to turn upon viserys. if she recognised that viserys treats alicent little better than a broodmare, she would have to realise that fundamentally that is all her mother was to him too. if she understood why alicent was disgusted by her marrying daemon she would have to see herself not as someone with agency marrying a man she loved who happened to be her uncle but as someone manipulated and groomed since childhood. the agency she clings to, which is so important to how she sees herself, would be revealed as an illusion. by extension she would have to see her family as one in which the familial is warped almost beyond repair. her self-image, so rooted in targaryen exceptionalism, would collapse.
likewise alicent cannot fully grasp why rhaenyra was so upset that she married viserys because she would have to fully see viserys not as the king but her friend’s father. she would have to face the horror of her life head on. moreover she would have to see viserys in her own father. for her to accept that rhaenyra is not selfish or undutiful for having affairs and trying to carve out whatever agency she can, the pedestal on which alicent places duty would have to be destroyed. she would have to realise that duty is only as important as she believes it to be, that it has no meaningful moral weight to it, and that all of her suffering has been for nothing. alicent tells herself that her sadness is a condition of her existence, as a woman, a mother, a daughter, and that by trying to claw whatever happiness she can from the world rhaenyra has turned her back on all of those things; she is the wrong kind of woman. if she could ever accept that rhaenyra had slept around and birthed bastards without judgement the core of alicent’s identity as a good mother/wife/queen would collapse. she would have to face the reality that nothing that happened to her was justified, and crucially that her submissiveness at every turn was not noble or good and was never going to let her win, but only trapped her further. every cognitive barrier she has built up to protect herself and provide some sort of meaning to a life in which she has only ever really suffered would have to shatter.
and they both realise these things to some extent, rhaenyra knows that viserys is flawed and fallible because she’s experienced his mistakes firsthand (and she is definitely aware of daemon’s violence) and in many ways alicent is so viciously judgemental of rhaenyra’s choices because she wants that level of freedom so desperately for herself, and they so clearly love each other still that they both want to believe there’s something good in the other. but they bury those doubts under layers and layers of cognitive dissonance so they don’t have to face deeply painful realities, because neither of them can truly see the other without destroying themselves.

I truly fear those people who defend criston cole because it terrifies me that there are people out there who truly believe you are entitled to someone just because you love them

My hot take regarding house of the dragon is that there is no way of hating Alicent without hating Rhaenyra and vice versa. You cannot say Alicent is better because she did her duty while Rhaenyra did what she liked without consequences without implying that it was fair for Alicent to be subjected to marital rape and forced pregnancy, because it was just her duty and she did as she was bid. You cannot say that without implying that a girl experimenting and wanting to have her first experiences with someone she actually was attracted to without being held down by the imposition of marriage (like any man could do) like Rhaenyra did was wrong. 'Rhaenyra wants to put bastards on the throne' what was she to do when she was forced to marry even tho she had no interest to and was terrified of childbirth? Laenor is gay, was she supposed to rape him? To reveal his sexuality and bring shame on him and his family?
This women are both flawed and have awsome complexity, and even though they are opposite its heartbreaking because they make.all.the.same.mistakes. over and over and over

Hello my lovely hyper fixating weirdos <3
Not sure how many of my ao3 readers will see this, but I just wanted to say that the health complication i had in the past where nothing particularly serious, although they had a really rough impact on my body and phisical appareance in general which (superficial, i know) made my mental health really spiral downwards in return.
I'm fine now, and currently taking a break from fanfics to focus on original work and my studies. But i'm still active in the fandom, i still read and support and send all my love to all the talented writers out there that are keeping it alive.
Just thought I owed you guys an explanation. This break is absolutely not something permanent, i'll come back to writing for this lovely pair of usettling idiots we all love.
See you then, hope you'll still be there, sending you hugs ❤️❤️❤️

Witchcraft & Hair Magic⚡️
Tumblr media
The Magic of Hair:
Hair has historically held great significance in many different cultures and the growing or cutting of hair had a significant impact. In my practice, hair holds great significance as well and is something I utilize in magical workings. I utilize hair in protection workings, as a personal taglock and to bring in certain energies (using colour magic). Hair as a taglock is actually a common association in many different communities. In some cultures, they burn their discarded hair to dispose of it as it prevents the hair from falling into the wrong hands. In my practice, I use it in spell jars or poppets that I am trying to link to me. I also incorporate glamour magic by colouring my hair red, this helps me feel and appear more confident and strong. Hair is a versatile tool in witchcraft and depending on your intention, it can be incorporated into many types of spell work.
Growing vs Chopping:
Some cultures view long hair as a reflection of commitment or spiritual growth. I believe that hair holds energy and I use my hair is a symbol of my energy. I rarely cut my hair and keep it long so that I can use it in my daily practices. The dedication and time that is put into growing out hair can be a spiritual experience in and of itself. Some people grow their hair out during specific times of their life or to represent a specific journey that they’re on.
The cutting of hair can also have many different meanings. Sometimes hair is cut off when close family members pass away or when they leave difficult/toxic situations. The cutting of hair can mark either the beginning or end of a spiritual journey. Some people believe that cutting their hair regularly rids them of negativity that they've been holding onto (through their hair).
Whether you choose to keep your hair long or short, you can find ways to incorporate it into your practice and use it in your magical workings.
Braids & Magic:
Braids have a strong magical and spiritual association in many different cultures. Their connection to protection magic is due to the fact that they are considered protective hairstyles. I braid my hair with intention when I don't want to wear a veil (I don't veil regularly but when I enter certain spaces, like graveyards, I like to). Braids are not the only hairstyle that this can be done with. For my short hair peeps, twists as work just as well as long as they are done with intention.
Many people believe that any hairstyle that covers the crown of their head can be used for spiritual protection. If you don't have the ability to braid or have access to hair-safe protective oil or veils, they can be great alternatives.
