In our darkest moments, we don't need solutions or advice.
We simply crave the warmth of human connection. A gentle touch, a silent presence--these are the anchors that ground us when life's storms rage.
Don't try to fix me. Don't carry my burden or chase away my shadows. Instead, be the steady hand I can hold as I navigate my inner landscape. Sit with me in the quiet, bearing witness to my struggle without trying to change it.
My pain is my own to feel, my battles my own to fight. But your presence reminds me l'm not alone in this vast, sometimes terrifying world. It whispers that I'm worthy of love, even in my brokenness.
So when the night seems endless and I lose my way, will you simply be there? Not as a savior, but as a companion. Hold my hand until dawn breaks and I find my strength again.
Your silent support is the greatest gift you can offer. It's the love that helps me remember who I am, even when l've forgotten.

“How fortunate are we that we get to do life, right here, right now, with the people we get to do life with?
We are off of this earth far longer than we are on it—find some good today, some magic today, some love today, some hope today.
Keep digging. There is gold here.”

The Lightness of a Heavy Cat Cage
Tumblr media
When Miguel, my cat, and his partner, San, welcomed five adorable kittens, it became apparent that I needed to buy a cage for them. Given that I was renting a house and sharing it with four other people, one of whom wasn't particularly fond of cats, I realized the importance of ensuring my pets' safety and preventing them from wreaking havoc in our shared living space. With this in mind, I promptly placed an order for a cat cage.
When the three-tiered cat cage finally arrived at my office, I decided to leave it temporarily at the guard’s post, as it was both heavy and bulky. Carrying it inside the office seemed impractical, despite the fact that the cage was pre-assembled and packaged in a box resembling the size of a 32-inch smart TV.
Returning to my desk to complete my remaining tasks for the day, I overheard a co-worker complaining about stomach pain, which was causing dizziness. In an attempt to inject some humor into the situation, I playfully remarked, "Perhaps you're just hungry, and your stomach's parasites are famished too." We shared a brief laugh before returning to our work.
By 4:55 PM, my smartwatch reminded me to start wrapping up my work for the day. Typically, I'd take the bus home, thanks to the company's generous provision of free transportation. (What a stroke of luck!) However, as I readied to leave, I remembered the weighty parcel I'd entrusted to the security guards. So, I heaved it onto the bus and positioned it in the aisle since all the passenger seats were occupied. I stood alongside my co-worker, the one who had experienced stomach pain earlier, completely oblivious to her discomfort.
As the bus started to move, the sky had grown increasingly gloomy and hinted at an imminent rain. During the ride, I dwelled on the challenges of lugging that hefty cat cage. I couldn't help but complain about its weight and pondered strategies for carrying it to the terminal, where I'd catch a motorcycle ride home. Additionally, I couldn't shake the feeling of embarrassment associated with transporting such an unconventional item. (I am somewhat introvert.)
As we reached the bus stop, the rain began to pour, precisely as I had feared. I hoisted the cage over my head with both hands, but then it struck me that this unwieldy burden also served as an impromptu umbrella, protecting me from the downpour. I was grateful. Nevertheless, there remained a small grumble in my mind about the cage's weight.
The following day, while preparing for work, my co-worker who had experienced stomach pain recounted her ordeal from the previous day. As I listened to her story, I was taken aback and felt a sense of humility for my prior grumbling. She expressed profound gratitude for the cat cage placed near her because she had felt nauseous during the bus ride and nearly lost her balance. The cage became an unexpected savior as she clung to it to prevent herself from falling.
As I listened to her story of gratitude, my prior complaints about the cage's weight echoed in my mind. It was as though life was teaching me a valuable lesson that in every circumstance, whether favorable or challenging, can unexpectedly transform into a blessing, perhaps not for ourselves, but for others in need. 🙃
