The fact that a lot of Fandoms have exactly one definition of "good female character" or "strong female character" in their heads, and the moment said character shows even the slightest hint of femininity they lose their minds and immediately switch gears to calling her bland, boring, "gooner-bait," etc...

I ligit saw someone say that the episode Gender Bender invented trans representation and I screamed. Oh Lord did you watch the episode?

In typical fashion a bunch of right wing trolls on Twitter found the new fans posts and started mocking them for calling Mulder autistic or either of them gay. And like what do you expect on a site owned by Musk? Actual Nazi Musk 🤦🏽‍♀️ Get off that site.

And in regards to whether either MSR are either autistic or queer you have to consider whether it’s good representation since it’s entirely opposed to canon. And that’s obviously not good representation. The number of times Mulder is institutionalized, including by Scully. The constant eye rolling and “you’re crazy” is a whole lot less palatable if he’s written as autistic. It makes her look pretty bad to be constantly mocking someone with autism.

As for them being bisexual I think a case could be made for Mulder considering his weird relationship with Krycek but even there it’s not great representation. He is basically being punished for being a “failed man”. And Scully is the straightest of women I’m sorry. She doesn’t have a bi bone in her body. She’s not even friendly with any women and was visibly uncomfortable around lesbians in All Things. Both of them say things that are homophobic on occasion. By the Revival they are the classic Boomer parents who support the LGBT community but don’t really understand it. (And that’s actually really consistent with cultural shifts and is a good thing.)

Like when you head canon your faves as something you actually have to consider what kind or representation that creates and what kind of scenario that fosters.

lowkey hate when ppl say that shipping canon is "boring".. I have a hard tine shipping anything that isnt canon. There are only 2 reasons I would go outside of canon is because of ppl in fandoms. If I see enough art of a pairing, I'll start getting it. And if the media starts to ship characters together.

It would be nice if people would stop mocking using assistive devices like Kindle/Book stands, page clickers etc. My doctor literally advised I use one for my neck issues. Meanwhile people are over here like “hilarious, so unnecessary and lazy, why would anyone need that?” Just because you don’t need it doesn’t mean someone else will, or that someday you might too.

headcanons are all well and good, and are a great way for fandom to interact with a piece of media, but the minute you start praising or lauding something for representation that is purely fanon you have sincerely lost the plot

Everyone talks about the way Mulder yearns for Scully and not enough people are talking about how Scully yearns for Mulder. She never lets him go to voicemail. She leaves family events for him, cancels her weekend plans for him — I mean, in War of the Coprophages, it really feels like she’s waiting by the phone for him to call. She’s crushing on him bad.

Did you hear about the Dark Romance con that just happened where a bunch of women assaulted a guy and like slipped a tracker into his pocket? The convention people handled it super well and changed their rules in reasonable ways but oh my goddddd what would have convinced anyone that any of that was okay? Neck MRI results are meh 🫤 from my eyes (I read MRI results at work but very much not a doctor) Not that bad but explains my chronic pain. Unfortunately I also know that there are not many good treatments for chronic neck pain and injuries.
