Rachel smoothed out her outfit as she stood there. ‘’Oh I just wanted to thank you for doing the ballad with me. Our voices are perfect together.’’ She nodded with confidence. ‘’Even if it was under protest from you.’’

She bit on her lip for a moment. ‘’That’s all I wanted. Maybe if we ever sing together again it’ll be a little less awkward for you.’’ She said that with hope that they would. An excuse to hear his beautiful voice again.

Endless love || Schueberry

RACHEL.

Rachel heard the applause from the others and smiled. She noticed him trying to move on to another ballad so she obliged. ‘’Thank you Mr. Schue. I think we sounded great together.’’ She went to sit back down and let out a sigh. She was probably being looked at like she was crazy or something but she didn’t pay attention.

For the rest of the class, she would occasionally look at him. She kept going back to their song in her head and knew her feelings were real. She knew he was her teacher but it wasn’t like anything was going to happen, right?

The class ended and as everyone else left, some giving her strange glances, Rachel got up as well. She stood there for a moment wondering if she should say something.

Will tried to move on to the next ballad as quickly as possible, dismissing Rachel with a smile and a “Good job.”

The rest of the class, Will sat off to the side on a stool, trying keeping his attention on the performances in front of him. He sighed to himself as his mind slipped back to Rachel and their ballad. He wasn’t supposed to be thinking about her, not like this.

Before he knew it, class was over and the students were gathering their things and heading out the door. “Great job today, everyone.” he called out to them as they made their way out of the room.

Will noticed Rachel standing there, as if she wanted to say something to him. “Can I do something for you, Rachel?” Will asked, keeping his distance still.

The glee club were doing ballads so they were paired off with each other. Since one of the members, Matt was sick, Rachel was paired with Mr. Schuester. He didn’t want to do it at first but finally the music of Endless Love started. Then she heard his beautiful voice.

It was then she noticed how pretty his eyes were and she couldn’t help but stare at him. It was probably looking creepy to him and the others but when she was singing, she didn’t notice.  She walked around the piano as she sang, lost in the moment. 

‘’My love, my love, my..endless love.’’ Rachel sang. She had never sung with him until now and it felt like she was seeing him for the first time. She realized then she had feelings for her glee club teacher, Will Schuester.

Will had been hesitant about singing a ballad with Rachel. He wanted the kids to sing together, but with Matt out sick, there was nothing he could do but go along with it.

When Rachel chose Endless Love as their ballad, Will suspected trouble.

As the song went on, he saw the crazy in the girl’s eyes. She followed him around the piano and sang to him as if she meant every word she was singing.

Somewhere along the way, Will’s thoughts went from being creeped out, to something else entirely.  His words began to come through as true and meaningful. Oh no.

When the song ended, Will stopped on the opposite side of the piano, trying to keep his distance from his student. He couldn’t be doing this – feelings for a student. He was married and this was — wrong.

‘’Why do you think?’’ She asked not looking at him. ‘’We were together sure but we were cheating. I know it wasn’t supposed to happen but it just did. He was upset that day..and I was there for him. It went from there.’’

She finally looked at him. ‘’You shouldn’t be upset. Yes we were seeing each other but I didn’t think at the time we would end up together. I felt guilty about what I was doing but I needed to feel loved I guess.’’ She wasn’t sure what else to say. ‘’I’m sorry.’’

Rachel sighed and bit on her lip in thought. ‘’I forgive you..’’ She whispered and sat down on the bench. She stayed quiet for a few moments. She figured there was something Will deserved to know. It happened a while ago but she wanted to tell him.

‘’I want to be with you. You should know..I’m not a virgin anymore Will...’’ She looked over at him. ‘’Finn was my first. ‘’ She whispered as she looked down at the ground.

Rachel watched as Will almost begged for her to forgive him. Part of her felt angry and jealous that he would do that after the events on the plane ride there. She knew she shouldn’t be mad because they weren’t even a couple yet but she thought he didn’t love her. He told her that.

‘’It didn’t mean anything?’’ She repeated what he said as a question. She stayed in her standing position as she looked down at him. ‘’I just thought that..you didn’t love her like that Will. We’re planning on being together aren’t we?’’ Her voice cracked and her eyes filled with tears. ‘’I hurt Finn because of this.’’

Rachel felt her heart stop and her eyes went wide. Did she hear him right? That couldn’t be true. They were supposed to be working on being together and he ended up having sex with Emma. It sounded silly since she was his fiance but he had told her he didn’t love her.

She stood up from the bench and looked down at him, hurt etched all over her face. ‘’I can’t believe it. We..we’re supposed to be together. We confessed our love for each other and you end up doing that?’’ She crossed her arms over her chest. ‘’Why?’’ It was a simple question.

Rachel was startled from her thoughts at the sound of Will’s voice. She hadnt even heard him come up. She managed a slight smile for him. ‘’Hi.’’ She looked away from him and stayed silent for a minute.

‘’Finn doesn’t want to talk to me for a while. I really hurt him.’’ She placed her hands on her lap. ‘’Did you sleep last night? It doesn’t look like you did. You look tired.’’ She observed. She slept on and off the night before. She also noticed Will didn’t look happy. It was ironic.They should be celebrating and they both looked unhappy.

The next morning, Rachel woke up in a funk. She was happy that they had won Nationals but the other events from the day before had brought her down. She had texted Kurt to see how Finn was. He had told her that Finn didn’t want to talk to her for a while even with her explanation through Kurt. 

She got dressed and brushed her teeth and went out for one last day of sightseeing. There was a local park she had heard of so she went off by herself and sat down on a bench to think.

At this point, Rachel just wanted to go back home. She had hurt Finn and now she had Will to think about. While they were on the bus Kurt tried to get her to talk to him but she only said that she just wasn’t ready to be engaged. She had New York to think about. Normally she could tell Kurt anything but he wouldn’t understand her situation.

They returned to the hotel and Rachel went back to her room with Mercedes. She changed into her pajamas and curled up under the covers. She silently started to cry.

Rachel bit on her lip and looked down at her feet as Will spoke. He might have told her she wasn’t a horrible person but she still slightly felt that way. How could she not? She thought back to when she had a crush on Will and how silly she had acted. Flash forward to her junior year and they were seeing each other in secret. 

‘’Do you mean that Will? I’m sure Finn wants nothing to do with me now that I didn’t accept his proposal but I’m never sure with him. I want to be with you. I hate hurting others along the way but now that I know you love me..it will happen.’’ 

After they finished speaking, Rachel silently went with the others back onto the bus. She avoided everyone’s eyes and sat next to Kurt. She kept her eyes focused on anything but Finn.

‘’I think I really hurt him Will..’’ She whispered as she stayed close to him. ‘’You know I want to be with you.  I had to admit to myself that I wasn’t over you. I just..’’ She trailed off and went over to the mirror to fresh her face. ‘’I didn’t want to hurt him. He’s so amazing and I’m a terrible person by doing this.’’

She turned to look at him. ‘’I don’t want to be engaged to someone while I still love someone else. Besides, I’m going to New York. How would we plan a wedding? And..I love you.’’ She looked to the floor. ‘’What do I do?’’
