I'm returning to this hellish website for one final post about this cursed series.

I finished ACOSF yesterday and...lmfao.

Rights for Nesta, Emerie, Gwyn, and the House of Wind AND FOR THEM ONLY.

Don't mind me as I throw away 4 year's worth of theories and analyses about Nesta and stare blankly at a wall as I unpack the reality that I am supposed to somehow believe that Nesta assimilated to IC life and apologised to all of them, and didn't get an apology from any of them for their constant judgement and condemnation of her.

We spent an entire book with a character with such severe self-loathing she truly believes her life is worthless and cannot fathom being loved at all and the people who keep claiming they love her do nothing but invalidate her throughout. The only ones who validate her feelings (without the convenient incentive of a mate bond) are Emerie, Gwyn, and the House of Wind.

That being said, on my blog I previously wrote a post about how Nesta is like a character pulled straight out of the Romantic tradition and amidst all the mess, SJM actually fully leaned into this in ACOSF. Nessian have Cathy/Heathcliff energy and I mean that in the best and worst ways (not necessarily an aspirational relationship, but one of colossal scope, transcendent, sublime, and desperate).

I liked Rhysand before I took a step back and saw how he treated people outside the inner circle. The infamous Elain is Elain quote was the last straw for me.

Thoughts About the Value of Academia and the Ways We Learn

So this subject is very important to me and I am brimming with thoughts related to it. a lot of the critique i see of the IC is directly correlated to their treatment of nesta. so tell me, aside from nesta (regardless of your opinions on her), why don’t you like the IC?

is it that both feyre and rhys died to save prythian? that they created a found family for mor when she was raped and violated by her ACTUAL family? that they provide azriel with a safe haven from his abuse as a child? that cas found brothers when his mother died? that amren found a home so far away from her actual home? or is it that found family dynamic between them is so ‘problematic’ that it warrants y’all shitting on them? or is it that the IC was the catalyst in gathering the courts to prepare for hybern? that without the IC hybern would’ve taken over and it would’ve been amarantha 100x?

i will not take slander for the IC when it’s not warranted
