I didn’t really make much art as a kid, but I suspect this might be what it would have felt like to have my parents put my #artwork on the fridge! Thanks @create_mag for the feature, and the wonderful @jennifersrizzo of @spoke_art for selecting my work to be part of this amazing publication. #lifegoals #gratitude #gabelangholtz #artlife #livingthedream (at New York, New York)

The problem with having your own vision, I think, is that nobody immediately sees it.

Coo Coup?
I dropped off a couple of my favorite paintings at Marta Stafford Fine Art yesterday.  Before I became an artist, I don’t think I realized what a personal process creating art can be.  I certainly couldn’t appreciate the attachment an artist might feel to some of his/her works – the attachment I’m feeling now.  Some pieces are harder than others to let go.  I suppose these difficult-to-release pieces are those that I find comfort in.  They seem (to me) to be whole, complete, and deeper than the image on their surface.  But most importantly, having them around affords me a balanced perspective.
Presently, my home is my studio.  I spend much of my time surrounded by unfinished and frustratingly dull works of art.  Works that in their present state fall flat and inadvertently impose themselves on my overall mood.  The stronger works of art are my mental peacekeepers.  But once they’re out of the house, there’s a noticeable uprising of bad artworks, wanting nothing more than to overthrow their king.
