Can you do 15.What would happen if i kiss you right now.
Please
I had so many ideas for this one.
Check out my ao3 // send me a prompt from this list
Prompt: "What would happen if I kissed you right now?"
The archive was dead quiet, save for the low hum of a single, flickering lamp and the occasional creak of old floorboards. Dust hung in the air like smoke, and the whole place smelled like paper, like old stone, and time.
Lin Beifong stood hunched over a crate of police files, flipping through incident reports, one by one, her brow furrowed. She was in work modeâdetective modeâand nothing but a bomb could interrupt her.
Except, perhaps, Kya.
âThis is not how I thought Iâd be spending my Friday evening,â Kya groaned from somewhere behind her.
Lin didnât even glance up. âYou said you wanted to help with the case. This is helping with the case.â
âUgh. I thought it would be exciting, but this is so boring. What are we even looking for again?â
âAny and all reports on the Harbor Explosion from '28,â Lin replied, scanning the page in front of her. âInternal notes, police logs, city council records. Anything not in the public archives.â
âRight.â
There was the sound of papers rustling, followed by Kyaâs voice lifting with amusement. âAh, look at this little print! Isnât it adorable?â
Lin looked up to find Kya holding a paper card with an image of a lemur on it. âYes. The cutest. Put it back.â
Kyaâs eyes glinted. âWhat would happen if I took it?â
âIâd have to arrest you. Put it back.â
Kya made a dramatic, long-suffering noise. âPfft. Youâre no fun.â
She placed the print back and began to wander the room at a lazy pace, her arms loosely crossed. Lin tried to ignore her and refocus, but it was hard. Kya had this way of filling space. She was difficult to shut out.
âYou know,â Kya said casually as she strolled along a row of shelves, âitâs actually kind of nice here. Quiet. Chill. Romantic.â
Lin shot her a look. Kya grinned, raising one eyebrow just enough to imply flirtation and trouble, all at once. Lin rolled her eyes and ducked her head again, hiding the faint flush rising up her neck. Kya always did this, teasing her, and it annoyed Lin to no end.
âOoh, look at this pretty vase!â
Lin glanced up just in time to see Kya on her tiptoes, reaching toward the top shelf where a delicate, dust-covered vase sat precariously between two ledgers.
âKyaââ
âCan I have it?â
âNo!â Lin snapped. âStop touching things.â
Kyaâs bottom lip jutted out as sheâthank the Spiritsâcarefully placed the vase back onto the shelf, before turning around wandering deeper into the archive.
Lin exhaled and rubbed a hand down her face. She shouldâve known better than to bring Kya here. Technically, she wasnât even allowed access, as non-officers werenât permitted in these restricted stacks, but Kya had insisted, practically pleaded, eyes wide, to help out.
And, frustratingly, Lin hadnât been able to say no.
âOh Lin, look at this necklace. Itâs gorgeous.â
Lin didnât even look up. "Yes. Donât touch it.â
When no reply came, Lin looked up to find Kya reaching for the glass casing.
In one breath, Lin was across the room. On instinct, she grabbed Kyaâs wrist, yanked her away from the case, and pushed her back against the nearest table. Kyaâs back hit the edge and Lin pressed close, one arm holding her in place.
âKya,â she snapped sharply, âare you stupid? Youâre going to trigger the alarm. Stop. Touching. Things.â
But Kya wasnât listening.
She was looking at Lin with wide eyes, her face flushed. Lin realizedâfar too lateâhow close they were. How warm Kya felt. How good she smelled. How her chest rose and fell just a little too fast. How Linâs hand was wrapped tightly around her wrist, and how the weight of her own body was angled forward, holding Kya there, feeling the soft pressure of her hips against her own.
Linâs mind had gone blank. The file sheâd been reading was gone. The archive was gone. The case, the paperwork, the fact that Kya had almost gotten them caught, gone. All she could focus on was Kya. The curve of her mouth. The way she was looking at her likeâ
Like she knew.
Kya tilted her head just slightly, her gaze flicking from Linâs eyes to her lips and back again. Her expression softened.
Then she smiled.
Slow. Intentional. Dangerous.
âWhat would happen if I kissed you right now?â
The words werenât loud, but they hit like a gong. Linâs heart skipped a beat. No, slammed into her ribs. She couldnât speak, or move. Her grip on Kyaâs wrist had tightened involuntarily, like letting go would snap her back to reality.
She swallowed, her voice barely more than a whisper.
âOnly one way to find out.â

Kya lifted the cigarette to her lips, softly pulling the fire into her lungs. She strolled through the streets, finding her way back home, taking the time to take in all the sights and sounds of the city she had been away from for the past four years. So much had changed since the day she left air temple island. Her eyes drifted across the landscape, watching people enjoy food from the various vendors, and noting all the different storefront signs. She lifted the cig to her lips again, lost in thought, when she heard a voice call out from behind her, âKya?â
She turned her head around to find a familiar face staring back at her in disbelief. It was Lin, she was standing in a queue at one of the food stalls, a shy smile replaced the shocked expression on her face as she stepped out of line towards her old friend, âWhat are you doing here?â
âLin!â Kya exclaimed, her heart fluttered at the sight of those bright green eyes. Kya rushed forward and closed the space between them, throwing her arms around the smaller woman. Lin chuckled and returned a small squeeze before Kya pulled back, holding Lin by her shoulders, âI just moved back! Iâm so fuckin excited to see you, what the hell have you been up to?â Kya was brimming with excitement.
âOh, you know,â Lin shrugged, âworking hard to clean up the city.â She gestured to the RCPD duffle bag in her hand. Kyas hands dropped back to her sides, her fingertips grazing along Linâs toned arms as she glanced down at the bag she hadnât noticed a moment ago.Â
âDetective Beifong, working as hard as ever.â Kya replied, taking a beat to look Lin over and make note of other things she hadnât noticed a moment ago; the way her tight white tank top had ridden up ever so slightly revealing her soft pale belly, her toned shoulders that glistened with a light sheen of sweat, her dark hair curling in around her strong jaw, and two new pink scars that her mother had written her about.
âSergeant, actually.â Lin stated, pulling Kyas attention back to those mischievous green eyes, âI was promoted about a month ago.â Linâs eyes were still fiercely locked onto Kya, a shiver ran up her spine.Â
âWell, look at you.â Kya playfully replied, once again raising the cigarette to her lips to take a drag. Kya kept her eyes fixed on Lin as she turned her face slightly to blow the smoke out of the side of her mouth. Lin broke her gaze to nervously glance around at the street vendors, beginning to squirm under the intent observation.
âAre you doing anything? I just got off work and was about to grab something to eat. I would love it if you joined me.â Despite Linâs casual tone, Kya noticed her now slightly flushed cheeks. Kya fought the smile that tugged at the corner of her mouth.
âThat sounds great.â She replied, stepping forward and pivoting to stand next to her friend, casually draping her arm over Linâs shoulders, âSo, whatâs good around here?â Kya asked as she scanned the landscape.Â
âIâll tell you, but itâs going to cost ya.â Lin teased.
âHa!â Kya huffed, and she lifted the hand that was draped over Lin so that she could take a hit of the cigarette that rested between her fingers. A warm sensation washed over Kya as she watched Lin lean in and focus on taking a drag. She thought fondly of the last time they had shared a cigarette, sitting close, out on the dock of air temple island. Their feet grazed the cool water as they looked at the moon through the haze of smoke in the air, the evening before she had left four years ago.
âLetâs see,â Lin exhaled the smoke through her nose, staring out into the street, âYour favorite noodle place closed a while back, but I think I know someplace youâll like better.â Lin looked at Kya and grinned at her.
So much had changed in the past four years, Kya thought to herself, but at least this was still the same.Â

I've always liked the idea of Kya II being able to see spirits, like Jinora (and Iroh in the og show) did. Maybe not as clearly as Jinora, or she didn't have as special bond with them, but it just feels so very convenient that she somehow deduced that Jinora can see spirits simply by seeing a child chase something invisible. Like talk about a lucky guess.

Tenzin: You have to trust me. I can help you. Kya: There might be another way. Jinora, is there something you want to tell Korra?
Now, I imagine there are two paths this headcanon could follow.
One is rather sad, where Kya manifests the gift, but never tells Aang because he's too focused on training Tenzin. And so Kya doesn't really do much with her spirituality.
But the other, and more cheerful (and the one i find more plausible) is that Kya did tell Aang about her ability and he tried to to train her in the traditional way airbenders were, however it didn't work, as Kya herself has admitted that she struggled with memorising the theoretical and historical aspect of it.

Obligatory "yeah i bet you couldn't keep them straight you beautiful sapphic" joke
Which is why Kya didn't consider herself a viable spirit guide for Korra in B2. Tgough she clearly did internalise some of Aang's teachings, like mediatation and a nomadic lifestyle. Perhaps her journeys led her to more spiritual places, who knows. I also think that, while focused mostly on the physical and chi, healing through waterbending appears to be a decently spiritual discipline, which may be why Kya excelled in it.
Big fan of her signature move, the "scan em like a big xerox machine"
Also, piggybacking off this, I always thought that the reason Kya ans Bumi succumbed to the Fog of Lost souls quicker than Tenzin was bacause they're both more spiritually attuned than him. Sort of an open door policy on spiritual influence, good and bad.
