I continue to run into people that are confused as to why Americans have screens on our windows and it’s really quite simple.

Tbh the way they talked about it I always thought it would be like all dark and sort of like Jack the Ripper lives there but also a little like San Pedro in True Detective season 2, and it's always raining and there are red eyes in the shadows and weird Batman figures but then we got there and it was like. A charming if not somewhat shabby beach town
Sometimes Bg3 will do this thing where it acts like Baulders Gate is the most evil city ever. However. I've been to Kirkwall. So.

I know that some British people take umbrage at Americans calling the Great British Bake Off relaxing, but it's just because GBBO is such a different kind of stressful from American baking shows.
American baking shows will be called something like "Cupcake Knife Fight", there's horror movie lighting everywhere and dramatic stings every 5 seconds. All of the contestants are shit talking each other and fist fighting over the one single deep fryer provided by production. It will show the judges all whispering to each other at their super villain table overlooking the whole kitchen, and one will be like, "Oh my god. Everyone look at Brenda right now. She's straight tanking it." And it will cut to Brenda, who is running around covered in flour and crying and also bleeding for some reason. Then you get a clip from an interview with one of the contestants, and they're like, "I really need to win this. Without this award money, I'm gonna need to close my restaurant, sell my dad, and live out of my car. AGAIN." Then the giant digital doomsday clock overhead lets out a horrid klaxon, the judges tell half of them that their cupcakes taste disgusting, and one of them gets eliminated and sent to walk down the dramatically-lit shame hallway never to be seen again.
Meanwhile GBBO is in a lovely, brightly colored tent, there are delightful and friendly hosts/jesters there to keep everyone entertained, and all of the B Roll is of like... a bumblebee going into a flower, or a lamb running in a field. And yes, there will be moments where someone will mess up their timing or something, and they'll be looking at their bake through the oven door like, "oh gosh I don't think this will rise in time!" Then they stand up to find Paul Hollywood directly behind them ominously. His creepy whitewalker eyes will glow white, and he'll say something like "the 12th of June. 2035. Drowning." And his eyes will go back to normal and he'll walk away. Then the baker gives a playful grimace to the camera and says "that didnt sound great, did it?". Cut to a sweet looking older woman sipping tea on a stool and she says "oo I do hope that Prue enjoys the taste of my sugary, sticky baps!". Then, at the end, someone gets a gold star for doing good, and the loser of the episode gets in the middle of a giant group hug. You see all of them at the end of the series at a giant carnival with their families and the post credits informs you that all of the contestants have become a Partridge Family-style traveling band and stayed friends forever.

Article Mentioning Returns of Abraham and Glenn in a flashback? (TD)
Has anyone seen this? It vaguely mentions a possible "flashback" in which we might see Glenn and Abraham again with other secretive hints. It's from earlier this year.
I asked ChatGPT to find some other old articles for me this morning just for funsies. I managed to locate the old article where Gimple mentions specifically a connection between the World Beyond Coda and Daryl Dixon season 2. Personally, I'm starting to get fatigue from the lack of specific information regarding the Wildfire virus, considering the fact that we came so close to it with World Beyond. That was five years ago. Most of the "hints" in this coda have still gone unfulfilled.
I am hoping that DD season 3 brings some of this old science fiction back into play, even if only in small ways. Daryl's story is messing around with a lot of different genres and historical callbacks. I'm not sure if that's a hint that we may enter the realm of scifi soon or not. But like, I'm ready lol.

Definitely! The relationship between alcohol and a cure for the virus has been kicked around for years, and I like the relationship here with honey. I also like the connection back to Denise. I made a post at the start of Daryl Dixon season 2 about the history of the French liqueur Chartreuse and its relationship to Catholicism and the French Revolution and what's currently going on in France in the TWD canon. While some of the details have been proven wrong, I was pretty close on a lot of predictions in terms of Laurent being separated from Daryl and Losang's ulterior motives. I still like the overall parallelism between Chartreuse (aka "the elixir of long life") and the cure for the Wildfire virus, as it clearly links France and Spain in the context of exile and "revolution," and there are lots of other connections pertaining to the science and symbolism at play. You can read my post here if you'd like!!
On that note: For whatever reason Scott Gimple is taking quite a while to make good on his long-ago promise, which I can not longer find online, that the World Beyond coda re: the different scientific research teams and the science of the Wildfire virus, is linked to the events in France and Daryl Dixon. What I keep hoping for, and the thing that keeps driving all of my analysis these days, is some actual Hard Factual Evidence pertaining to the wildfire virus and its cure. What we are getting instead keeps showing up in Soft Metaphor, symbolism mainly via Laurent and using religion/cult as a metaphor for scientific study and obsession. The symbolic connections to Beth are tantalizing, but that's all they remain at the moment: symbol.
To this day, since season 4 of the flagship, World Beyond (and to a lesser extent, the Everett episode of Tales) is the only reference material we've gotten pertaining to official scientific study of the virus. There IS some interest in curing the virus in the final season of Fear, and many big "Beth" hints pertaining to the fact that Alicia survives the fever, and radiation does seem to have some relationship to a cure, drawing a tentative connection back to Slabtown and the flagship (which @frangipanilove has written about extensively in the past); however, in Fear season 8, June's "research" on radiation is couched in the "off-label" context of P.A.D.R.E., which was originally a project of the US Military (a faction we now know to have been eradicated from play very early in the apocalypse) and entirely divorced from the CRM or any other major paramilitary or scientific factions. SO. I'm hoping in season 3 of Daryl Dixon we at least begin to encounter some sort of more specific science fiction pertaining to Wildfire and its origins!! My body is ready lol.
The universe of The Walking Dead keeps getting bigger and bigger, but it's had no real longterm goal in mind since the end of the flagship, nothing drawing all the stories together. We once thought that the CRM would serve this function; however, we've since rerouted given the events of The Ones Who Live. Thanks to so many of our clever members, Team Delusional remains on point with so many of our theories, even as they have yet to come to fruition in more concrete ways. I am now hoping that the thing that's actually going to draw all this together is the CURE, which, as a plot arc, will be helmed by Beth's return. I definitely haven't given up!! It's little things like your observations here that always draw me back in. Here's hoping something big pans out this season!!!! (Sorry for the derailment here lol. I'm just looking forward to season 3 and haven't talked TD in a while!!...^^)
the cure to wildfire virus and love pt.2
in part one, i talked about how honey is connected to the cure. in this part, i'm going to write about ambrosia, the food of the gods in greek mythology.
Tumblr media
ambrosia derives from another greek word ámbrotos meaning immortal.
let's talk about what kinds of foods and drinks are considered ambrosia. a scholar named roscher believed that honey and nectar were involved because of a few different reasons. first, honey was believed to have healing and cleansing powers. second, there's a beverage called mead involving fermented honey, and it's considered a type of wine. i think we can include all types of wine.
if any type of alcohol or food involving honey protects the person who consumes it in twd, it's probably because they've based this idea on ambrosia.
also, i think they have chosen dwight and sherry's names based on this. if beth really is the cure (honey) and daryl is her partner, one of their counterparts/foils/proxies, whatever you want to call them, as a couple is dwight and sherry.
Tumblr media
this is the origin of dwight. dionysius is the god of wine-making, fruit and etc.
Tumblr media
a wine made from grapes grown in spain? whoever has been responsible for these names had fun, that's for sure.
one last thing, remember this poor girl? her name, denise, is one of the descendants of the name dionysius. its meaning is the dedication to dionysus. i guess when you devote yourself to something, you die.

The gods of video game moms are going to give me the strength to finish this Durge run of BG3 before I cave and start Death Stranding 2. I actually love the Durge run. It's incredibly fun. And yet.
I haven't had two video games I've wanted to play at once in years, certainly not since my life has become infinitely more busy 😭
