Gale from @vannral's the wizard fashion, which I emphatically recommend if you think you'll enjoy some sweet married bloodweave smut and Astarion losing his mind over Gale wearing pretty lingerie (as he SHOULD)💜💜💜 I've been having a time these past several weeks and vannral's bloodweaves have been such a comfort, so I figured another fanart was in order as a show of thanks LOL

I've done fanart for the halcyon days ahead of us (post canon, only one bed RAAAA) and on these calm waters (act 3 falling in love 🥺), and I also really love in the middle of a maze (Gale peril!!!) and the price of loving someone (really sweet Gale & Shadowheart friendship plus some misunderstandings). The ongoing an act of bargaining also has me in a chokehold rn but honestly, I wholeheartedly recommend every one of vannral's bloodweaves as they are wonderfully written and sweet and ogugghgughg I love them so much 😭

Getting the sheer robe to look right was a TRIAL but it was so worth it imo 😊 Multiple translucent layers stacked on top of one another to get the right amounts of opacity., and then a gradient map to get the pearly effect wehehehe

Having completed at least one romance run with every origin companion, I can now say Gale is still unmatched for me. The others have great moments (especially Lae'zel IMO), and I'm biased because Gale was my first love interest, but how do you beat a romance with a man who

-tells you you've given him a reason to live after believing for so long that he has to die for his own redemption and the safety of everyone around him -tells you he forgets the literal goddess whose bed he shared when he's with you -gives up the chance to become a god himself for you -describes your beauty with phrases like "you put the stars to shame"

re: the debate over whether or not gale is self aggrandizing because he's insecure, or whether or not he's actually that good of a wizard . . . it's both babes. he's a genuinely talented wizard and he talks it about it all the time because he feels like it's the only thing he has to offer. it's what drew mystra to take an interest in him in the first place, it's what his whole adult life has revolved around, it's all anyone knows him for in waterdeep. if you manage to roll a 30 in balthazar's secret chamber to make the pixie lamp yourself he basically says "i guess you don't need me at all, why am i even here" and sounds like he's going to burst into tears. it's why he says "you love me for the man i am, not my magic" if you romance him; he's not used to being appreciated for anything other than his wizardry. if you pay attention to his dialogue, you'll notice every time he brags about himself it's about his magic/intellect, and if you criticize any other aspect of him, his response is just "you're right 😞" obsessively reminding people of the traits he assumes they'll find valuable because he's insecure about his worth does not mean he isn't genuinely skilled at those things. thanks for coming to my ted talk.

If playing bg3 has taught me anything, it's that a lot of people don't know the difference between Magiatrates and Lawyers.

Astarion says he used to be a magistrate in the city. Not a lawyer. He wasn't the one speaking to a judge on behalf of someone, HE WAS THE JUDGE.

The definition of magistrate is a civil officer or lay judge who administers the law, especially one who conducts a court that deals with minor offenses and holds preliminary hearings for more serious ones.(literally copy and pasted that definition from the dictionary)

He's not a "Your honor, respectfully, you weren't even there"

In my recent game I came across some dialogue from Gale I've not seen before, despite this being my 500000000th romance with this man. So we meet Lorroakan for the first time and convince him that Aylin is dead. Speaking to Gale, I think, ok, he's going to be like "hey what a shit wizard" or "what an arrogant little twat" because we've already seen his rubbish projections and it's Lorroakan, come on. Then Gale says this:

Yes, he falls short of - wait. What? Gale is roasting Lorroakan not for his magical skills. He is incensed by his inability to use multiple sources to verify information.

This absolute nerd is more pissed about having too few citations than the fact that Lorroakan is an amoral little jerk that wants to torturously leech off of an aasimar's soul for his own immortality.
