Writer's Guild Presents: The Ire and Needs of a Cuddly Snake Demon
Tumblr media
The Ire and Needs of a Cuddly Snake Demon
No warnings, rated T
Tags: mentions of past violence, Fluff with H/C
Summary:
Satan and Hell have been escaped, the Second Coming has been averted, with the Metatron never to be worried about again. All done and dusted. And now Crowley, with Aziraphale, is living his best life he only dreamed of, with more in it than he ever imagined.
But although Hell can no longer touch him, that doesn't mean that what he endured at Satan's hand while there, hasn't left its very lingering effects. Even the most Terrifying Snake Demon needs the simple, but very loving care and arms of his angel sometimes.
Excerpt:
Aziraphale put the offensive laptop, with its impossible keyboard, and horrific potential for surprise puns, in the bottom drawer of his desk – the realm of the odds of the ends. It was the lowest of low places, for the things of Aziraphale to end up. “You should feel bad about yourself,” he scolded the laptop, as he shut the drawer.
Crowley chuckled, before giving Aziraphale a quick kiss. “Well I’m going back outside to finish things up,” he said. “Fancy joining me? Let the fresh air chase away the memories of Mark’s horrible puns?”
“I’m not sure anything can do that,” Aziraphale grumbled. “But yes, I would love a change of scenery.”
......... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ..........
Aziraphale's hand tentatively held the side of his face, and Crowley opened his eyes. “Crowley, love,” Aziraphale began.
“M’not a love,” Crowley interrupted, his pain making him feel very argumentative.
Aziraphale's mouth twitched up in amusement, “Well, you are, quite literal…”
“M’a snake demon,” Crowley muttered, eyes flashing.
“Yes, dear, a very terrifying snake demon,” agreed Aziraphale.
“No, nono, no, no! Don’t go saying it all condescendingly,” countered Crowley, quite offended now. Although he could tell sweat was breaking out around the back of his neck and across his forehead, from how severe the tight burning around his chest was getting. He gripped the fence just behind him more desperately.

Crowley’s Mayfair flat design (concept art) for season 1 was inspired by an art installation in the Royal Academy of Arts called “Sensing Spaces”; in particular this piece from Grafton architects.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This installation “aimed to evoke the experience of contemporary architecture within a neoclassical environment”. Especially the light “coming in” from overhead was the most important aspect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most poignant of all was to recreate the light sensation of both moon and sun simultaneously.
The spatial qualities of light and shadow shaped the installation by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Irish firm Grafton Architects. The architects suspended large wooden structures from the ceilings of two galleries to recreate the experiences of both sun and moonlight.
Tumblr media
The structures by Grafton Architects, founded by Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell, hover above Gallery IX and the Lecture Room, suspended from the roof lights above. In order to create a strong spatial tension between adjacent rooms and to set up different lighting scenarios, two dramatically different compositions have been made. Choosing only to work with the roof lights, both installations feature a series of suspended surfaces and forms that manipulate the light and reshape the space in two entirely different ways; one as an exploration of lightness, with what is referred to as a waterfall of light, and the other being the exact opposite, exploring weight, containment and the formation of carved-out space. In the Lecture Room, a series of dark, brooding and apparently massive solid forms obscure most of the existing ceiling and roof light, articulated by two relatively small, high-level ‘apertures’ or openings of light. In contrast to this, Gallery IX features nine blades, suspended in alignment with the gallery’s exposed trusses to reflect a balance of natural and artificial light filtered through the exposed roof light. While both installations drop down within the galleries to create an implied headroom of 2.5 metres within the 8.5-metre-high spaces, two entirely different relationships are established between the floor and the light. In the Lecture Room, the installation intensifies the perception of distance between the floor and the light, while in Gallery IX the hanging blades bring proximity and unity. By quoting American architect Louis I. Kahn’s statement that ‘to hear a sound is to see a space’, Grafton Architects allude to a consistent ambition in their work to make space tangible. As they put it, they seek to ‘make as much nothing as possible’, and to structure space through the careful orchestration of the passage of light and movement through the void. In response to what they refer to as an ‘amazing generosity of space’ within the Main Galleries of the Royal Academy, their installations set out to radically transform each visitor’s perception of the familiar. As such, between Gallery IX and the Lecture Room the architects have created two distinctly different scenarios which, when experienced side-by-side, set up a powerful spatial duality and tension that reinforces the qualities of the existing rooms while radically transforming them into something new. (for a complete 360 view of the rooms)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
‘As well as enabling us to find greater pleasure in the spaces we inhabit, this exhibition will perhaps heighten our awareness of the sensory realm of architecture and thereby encourage the creation of a more rewarding built environment.’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From Michael Ralph: Crowley’s flat was the first piece of concept art he did before booking the job, and it stayed the same. He sent in seven pieces of concept art before he went for an interview, and four of them stayed exactly as they were – nothing changed from his original instinct. The idea of the apartment was for it to be almost a cement tomb but with a very high ceiling (hanging in mid-air) so there was a sense of light coming in from a very high level.
And just a piece I want to highlight: "manipulate the light and reshape the space in two entirely different ways; one as an exploration of lightness, with what is referred to as a waterfall of light, and the other being the exact opposite, exploring weight, containment and the formation of carved-out space."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a way, the flat has always possessed a bit of light and shadow, something reflected in Aziraphale and Crowley's own essences.

Writer's Guild Presents: Reclaimed, Ch. 30
Tumblr media
Reclaimed: Chapter 30 - Dimensional Deserts Make Amazing Planetariums
CW/TW/Rating: overall - M for Graphic Violence, this chapter - T for language
Summary: Final plans are laid before everyone goes their separate ways.
Crowley starts to realise just how vast the scope of his reach and abilities now are as the Ruler of Hell. And he uses that reach and scope to finally give himself and Amon the real break they, and Crowley in particular, have needed for so long.
Because Hell needs Ruling, the Metatron needs to be taken down, and several things are just beginning.... sort of.
Excerpt: Aziraphale looked between Amon and Crowley. “You both consider Mark the equivalent of your younger brother,” he said.
The two demons got very indignant looks on their faces, but when they couldn’t come up with any actual legitimate protest, Aziraphale first became very smug, before his demeanor softened. “I think the concept of family, for those of us who connect with that sort of construct, could be quite healing, you know? Like, if you feel that connection towards another Being – demon or angel – then that’s what counts, and who’s to say otherwise?”
There was such wistful longing in Aziraphale's voice, that Crowley immediately wrapped him in a hug. “How about we change things from the inside properly then, angel,” he whispered, “Make that a possibility for everyone who wants it.” He leaned down, grinning fit to burst, and whispered even more quietly in Aziraphale's ear, “Time to lick some serious butt, eh?”
Aziraphale pulled back slightly, doing a double, and then a triple take, at his demon, whose eyes were sparkling, along with that particular grin he got when he thought he’d pulled off some very mischievous sneak, and was absurdly pleased with himself. Read more on AO3

I love how in almost all iterations of nearly any post s2 anything, Crowley becomes the (very) reluctant angel mentor to Muriel and/or any other naive Earth angels 😂

Writer's Guild Presents: Reclaimed, Ch. 29 - Message In A Light Orb
Tumblr media
Reclaimed, Ch. 29: Message In A Light Orb  CW/TW/Rating: M, no warnings for this chapter except dialogue references to past physical violence. Overall fic warning: Graphic violence
Summary: Crowley remembers who Cassiel is. And between Cassiel, and Amon through Lucifer's memories, an almost complete picture of the whys and wherefores of nearly everything involving God, the Rebellion, the Metatron, the Fall, and...well...everything, is finally able to be pieced together. A picture that prompts Crowley to perform Creation in the form of a message to send to God.
And Crowley and Aziraphale finally get a chance to talk properly about things......
Excerpt: “Yes, because, here’s the thing,” Cassiel said, leaning forward, and smoothly taking over, “you and him, were supposed to get to ask God Herself your questions. You were supposed to question the apparent cruelty, and meaninglessness of getting rid of a creation that was only six thousand years old. That was the correct answer to the test… to the Game." Writer's Guild Presents: Take Me Home
Tumblr media
Take Me Home
(M), TW: Graphic Violence (for real), gunshot injuries
Tags: Crowley whump, BAMF Aziraphale, hurt/comfort, Ineffable Husbands
Artwork by Bluhtack
Summary: When a crossroads demon tries to cheat a teenager out of his soul, Crowley ruins the deal. But a ruined contract means no more contracts, and to Arax and his other crossroads buddies, Crowley is to blame. Which is how Crowley finds himself deep in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains facing a type of violence he is utterly unprepared for. A good thing Aziraphale is more than willing to brazenly walk into Dagon's office in Hell and demand to deal, in order to rescue HIS very precious demon.
Excerpt: For a brief moment, Crowley heard the sounds of insects and night animals as they scurried through the undergrowth. A flock of bats burst up from somewhere.
He just wanted to be back in his and Aziraphale's small, unassuming house they’d rented for two months, sprawled on the couch like he’d planned, doing nothing on purpose besides slowing his body down with all the windows open, and Aziraphale to specifically lounge on for his pillow.
But no. Instead, he was captured by crossroads demons and was being tortured in a difficult-to-track location, beyond discorporation, by means he had never experienced before. Read more on AO3
