How are you?? I hope you're feeling better since the last time we spoke :( Haven't bothered you in a while, so here I am!

I've said this to you multiple times, especially under ao3 comments, but I still wanted to tell you that TW is such a good rewrite, that made completely forget how terrible the original source actually is.

I just saw some Klamille clips and... you weren't kidding when in one of A/N said that everything about Cami, is actually about Klaus. I am so used to your version of Camille, the one with actually self respect and consistency, that i was disappointed to see how much different she actually is in canon.

I may be biased, but I really can't see the appeal of her character the same way I do with your version of her. And the thing is... she's just a side character in TW. Probably have even less scenes than she does in canon, and yet! with the limited space she had in the rewrite, you still managed to give her so many layers.

So, yeah! that's pretty much it!! the more I see the canon verse, the more I cherish your edition. The fact that A WHOLE TEAM OF PEOPLE, lead by a WOMAN, thought that making canon!cami the way she is was a good idea... gives the chills.

As always, you are very kind ❤️ But yeah, I stand by my opinion on canon!Cami. I don't think she ever stood a chance with the way they wrote her. I don't think JP&co ever understood what was it about the Klaroline dynamic that made people insane about the two of them and they tried to replicate it with Klamille in a million ways and it all felt cheap, unimaginative and forced.

I'm obviously biased, but I do like my version of Cami a lot more lol Obviously she isn't romantically involved with Klaus, so there is that 😂 But I did try to do her justice in moments where I felt they did her dirty on the show. Like for instance, Klaus never once apologized for pimping her out to Marcel. That was so disgusting to me. He compels her to go out with Marcel and spy for him and even when she gets scared of Marcel and decides she doesn't want to see him anymore, Klaus compels her to forget and think that she's enamored and to keep seeing him. That is so fucked up, and it never gets acknowledged. They just pretend it never happend. Cami gets all kinds of mad at him for ~stealing her agency when he compels her to forget about what happened to her brother, but for some reason she's not upset he compelled her to seduce someone just to spy on them? How??? It's awful. That was one thing I knew for sure I needed to fix, because it bothered me so much. She does not forgive him for doing that, she holds it against him and she only starts getting in a good place with him when he actually apologizes for it. I also really enjoyed writing her and Caroline beings friends, because tbh I think they'd get along well if they ever met lol But Caroline needed a friend who wasn't a Mikaelson, and it felt natural for Cami to slip into that role.

But friend, you'd be surprised by how little participation Cami has on the show lol It's not that different from TW. She's just not that big of a character. The whole 'influence' they keep talking about, how she 'inspired goodness in Klaus', is all said, not shown. She's barely there at all. I think Matt has more screentime and storylines than she does. Jeremy for sure gets more individual moments of development than Cami. Everything that happens to her is related to Klaus - his story, not hers. She just happens to be there, and sometimes barely. In season 3, after she becomes a vampire, in what should've been a big moment for her character individually, she doesn't even appear in a lot of episodes, just goes to deal with her issues off screen. And when she does appear, it's for a few minutes, marginally doing other things, with other people. They had no idea what to do with Cami, and it got to a point where they didn't even know how to include her in Klaus' storylines anymore because it didn't fit. They wrote her into a messy corner and didn't know how to get her out. She turns into a vampire and has literally nothing going on, Klaus keeps doing his thing away from her and that's it, it does not affect him at all. No wonder they killed her off.

But anyway 😂 I'm not sure I'm not writing the best version of Cami I could, but I'm glad you like her anyway. I really like my Cami tbh, I got attached. Which is why I didn't kill her lol She deserved better than that.

Lost anon here! I guess i just wonder whether you prefer Jate or Skate. I find the love triangle so fascinating because they both seem like such a subversion of what you’d expect each trope to be.

Like Sawyer as the bad boy and Jack as the good boy, yet the formula doesn’t exactly fit right because Jack is kind of insane and seems to channel a lot of that insane-ness into at least one unhinged act of devotion for Kate per season. Meanwhile, Sawyer as the “bad boy” is the more tender and stable option between the two, and the most sensible one if I’m being honest.

I’d be curious to know your thoughts!

I was obsessed with it the way everyone was, but I wasn't particularly shipping anyone. I remember not liking either of the main couples, but I think I was more into Jack in general? I think the whole cowboy thing with Sawyer didn't capture my heart. But I wasn't a fan of either of them tbh, I was a Desmond girlie 😂

Bear in mind that this was 20 years ago and I remember nothing 😂 I have no idea how I'd feel nowadays.

The thing is for me Lost was never about the ships. I might like a pair here and there, but for me to actually *ship* a couple it takes some. It's very rare tbh. I get obsessed with shows and characters all the time, but never feel strongly enough about romantic pairs. Lost was like that. I loved the show to bits, spent hours awake downloading the episodes as soon as they aired in the US because it took weeks for them to air in my country 😂 But I didn't care enough about ships, they didn't do much for me.

#getting lectured: a thrilling saga

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.

I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.

The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.

Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.
