Does the character need to be canon queer or canon disabled? Not "and", I mean: "or".
I know that one of those requirements can be headcanon, but does at least one need to be canon, or could someone submit a character that isn't canon queer or canon disabled just on the power of headcanoning them as both?
Not judging anyone who would do that. I'm just asking for clarification.
Nah, both disability and LGBTQ+ can be headcanon, it just doesn’t happen much. Last round I think we had like 3-5ish that were noncanon either (around 3% if I did the math right), but to be quite honest even those were really ambiguous. (One has since become canon LGBTQ+ lol). So yes, they can be submitted on the power of headcanon alone, it just really doesn’t happen much due to ambiguity. You can see more about it here.

hi i was the one who submitted sasha nicolai from dark carnival. what information was the submission missing?
None actually! Mod A didn’t check well enough, so couldn’t find proof of what you were saying, but we checked again and she counts, so will be in the showdown.

Hi hi! I entered Lillium White from Countdown to Countdown and in my submission I confessed that I was not far enough into the story to know for certain whether or not he was canonicaly queer, I have returned to inform you that he does appear to be canonicaly queer. I would explain the cannon queerness but I will sound insane. Just know it involves an alternate universe(part of main story) forehead kiss.
Lolll. No worries, he will be in the tournament. Can we link this ask in his polls when they happen?

Just curious, why aren’t helluva boss and hazbin hotel characters allowed?
So this is something we established last round, and the reasons why can be found here, here, and here (last one isn’t super relevant but it’s on the topic). We will very likely not be changing our minds on this matter.

Idk if anyone has replied re: Willow from Reverse: 1999 but if they haven't; she is canonically disabled (missing a leg) but is not as far as I'm aware canonically queer beyond like, vibes I guess
Thanks for the information! She will be included in the showdown.

i'm gonna be honest i don't even remember who all i submitted ^^; i know at least one of them was without my account attached because of the series involved glad this is still going on though, can't wait to see who all gets in!
Lol, I think you submitted a character from Pokemon and a character from Ninjago: Dragons Rising. Also we will still finish round two no matter what goes on, it may just take a while.

More information for Markus from Hunter: The Parenting. I'm the same person that submitted him, so I'm only adding more info on his disability.
While it has never been explicitly stated, there are moments in the series that show Marckus having ADHD.
Exhibit A

Exhibit B
Exhibit C
There's also been information added by the production team on their blog.
Like Marckus having bad sleeping habits and this which idk how to call it. Planifiation method?. The last one is an ask in which anon assumes that Marckus has ADHD and the head of production doesn't contradict them.
Hope this helps I would really like him to be able to participate.
Thanks for the additional information. He is now in the showdown. Would it be alright for us to link this post to his polls when they happen?

Hello! Totally ok if these two aren't included but did want to submit some more info :)
Scorpia: her claws make it difficult for her to do day-to-day tasks in a world where Everything is designed for people with two hands. She has adapted in order to use her claws safely (e.g. only hugging with her arms, only being able to wear outfits designed to go over her claws)
Lottie Matthews: she is canonically diagnosed as schizophrenic, she may also have some prophetic abilities?? but so far it's been left up to interpretation as to whether that is true or whether that is a symptom of her schizophrenia. Either way she has PTSD.
Thanks!
Thanks for the additional information for Scorpia and Lottie Matthews, both are now in the showdown. Is it ok for us to link this ask in Scorpia’s polls when we post them?

Hello! Jude St Francis was my submission and I saw he was rejected for dubious content matter. Do you consider him a problematic representation of queerness, or just not like the book itself/think takes its traumatic scenes too far? I know it is very controversial media but it means a lot to me and other people—am I able to convince u to let him be included?
Unfortunately, we’re still not gonna run him unless we get more people saying that he should be run.
#asks#g answers#a answers#a little life#also regarding the representation#the queerness isn’t really an issue for this blog#so its more the book itself#mod a also isn’t really comfortable running him bc as far as we know the author is neither disabled or queer#which isn’t inherently problematic#just in this case it’s not helping

Would a disabled gem from the show Steven Universe count as they are all agender with she/her pronouns? That is the norm there so I cannot tell. Thank you for your time, and thank you for running such a fun tournament (:-)
(Please ignore the fact that I am answering this over a month late, sorry). I think it would probably depend on the character, if you are thinking of Lapis Lazuli, she was in the last round, and could be submitted for this round. TBH as long as you provide a decent argument for whatever character we’ll probably take them.

Hey Y’all
Sorry for kind of disappearing into the void, life has been kinda chaotic. Submissions are still open, and we’re unsure when we will close them. Last time we had 194 characters and around 300 submissions. Currently we have around 150 submissions and at least 70 characters. We’re aiming for around the same bracket size, but we’ll see how things pan out.
LGBTQ+ Disabled Characters Showdown: Electric Boogaloo (2) Submissions
Who can be entered:
Anyone can be entered that is LGBTQ+ and disabled. This includes physically disabled characters, neurodivergent characters, and characters with mental health things like anxiety and depression for example. However, this is not limited to solely just canon confirmed characters. In order to be considered for this showdown, if they are not canon you must provide a good argument for their inclusion. More about our canon policy here.
Who cannot be entered:
Real people
Harry Potter
Helluva Boss / Hazbin Hotel
OCs
Yang Xiao Long from RWBY
Neil Josten and Andrew Minyard from All For The Game
There’s a few more things that might be excluded, but it’s an if it’s submitted we’ll point it out kinda deal. Most/all characters from last season are free game except the ones listed because they won first and second. Any character that was rejected last season could be submitted and potentially run, and anything from last season could potentially not be run.
Multiple characters from the same media can be submitted and be in the showdown.
What should be in the submission:
Who the character is
What they are from
Why they qualify
Propaganda
Submissions:
Characters can be submitted in the google form linked. If you are not comfortable using a google form you can also shoot us an ask. You can submit as many characters as you like, but please don’t spam the same character. If you’re not sure a character counts feel free to shoot us an ask. Submissions are open until at least around the end of March. Don’t assume your character has been submitted, they probably haven’t even if they are from a popular media. Bracket size is as large as we can get it.
Disclaimers will be under the cut
Disclaimers:
1.) Please tell us if we are using the wrong terminology or are doing something offensive, we are trying our best but are only human.
2.) This showdown will be as big as we can logically get it, however we reserve the right to not include characters at our discretion.
3.) We will block without warning, please be civil when interacting with the content.
4.) If you have an issue with one of the characters feel free to send us an ask or message and we’ll figure out what do do from there. That being said this isn’t really about who is the best representation.
#lgbtq disabled characters showdown#lgbtq dcs eb2#polls#poll#also as a reminder: any characters from last round can be submitted#and they will not automatically be added into this round#also please please please can we get some more Star Trek#the fact that we only have Kirk right now should be a crime#(we will probably submit some if nobody else does#we just don’t know them very well)

Just wanted to get clarification again on what the stance is for things like mental illnesses? (I know y'all mentioned something for the first go, but I don't remember all of the details and am not sure if the criteria has shifted). The characters I'm thinking of submitting in particular have ptsd, for more context
Yeah characters with mental illnesses can be submitted.

Characters in Showdown: Electric Boogaloo (2) Currently
Notes:
1.) This list is subject to change; characters will be added, some could get removed (very unlikely). Not all characters that have been submitted have even been reviewed yet. Characters are under the cut.
2.) The groupings are to make it a bit easier to find characters, they are broken up like this bc that’s how I did it last time.
3.) The form is still open, if you want to submit more propaganda for a character on here go ahead.
4.) Rejected characters are in a separate post here, along with characters that we are on the fence about. If you submitted someone and they aren’t here or on the rejected characters list feel free to ask about them, but just know it’s probably only because we haven’t gotten around to checking them yet.
5.) If there is a character you think doesn’t qualify you can ask us and we can tell you why they have been added. Just because a character can be deemed problematic isn’t grounds for removal.

Characters that have been Rejected from Showdown: Electric Boogaloo (2)
Notes:
1.) This also includes some characters we are on the fence about, that would require more information for us to include them.
2.) If you would like to appeal a rejection you can send us an ask, but don’t be rude about it or we’ll be less likely to consider your point.
3.) Characters that have been accepted here.
Characters that need more information:
Akihiko Shiraishi from Our Walk Home
Ariake Shoutaro from ooe
Sasha Nicolai from Dark Carnival
Freyja Maria Mendoza (fainéant girl) from The Post Traumatic Manifesto: “I don’t really know what’s going on here” -Mod A
Characters that need better arguments:
James T. Kirk from Star Trek: we need a bit stronger information / more receipts for us to consider the disability aspect.
Characters that have been rejected:
Maria Calavera from RWBY: “isn’t queer, the submission had nothing about her supposed queerness, and the wiki was so sparse as to not provide conclusive support either way” -Mod A
Vaughan and Gabrielle from Crash by JG Ballard: Content matter is dubious to the point of not wanting to run these characters.
Jude St. Francis from A Little Life: Content matter is dubious to the point of not wanting to run this character.
Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist: “did not have a compelling submission in favor of queerness” -Mod A. Additionally we have watched Brotherhood, and don’t really think he’s queer so unless we get an actual argument it’s not happening.
Solo Polyamorous Hijabi Amputee from Twitter: Doesn’t really count as a character.

would characters who don’t have arms count if it was normal for their species? like most characters do have arms but a large amount don’t have them
Initial answer: do what feels right in your heart.
Actual answer: it really would depend on the character or media, so it’s hard to pass vague judgements. Per Mod A “…kinda a false equivalency but we don’t consider animals disabled cause they don’t have arms [animals like snakes] so why [] would we do that with other species” If you give a specific character then we can tell you if they count. Additionally, if it is treated as a disability or not would have some influence on if they counted or not.
