Chapter One : Soft Smile, Harsh Reality.

“Here we are, Greed Island.” said the man with the turban, holding between his arms an infant, sleeping peacefully.

The 6 years old standing besides him looked at the landscape in front of them, she was strangely quite and wore a small smile on her face, breathing heavily as she glanced at her father with glowing eyes, with a hint of sadness that he noticed immediately.

“Are you jealous that I made this for your brother, Gem ?” asked Ging, already knowing the answer.

“I’m not.” replied the girl.

“Then why do you have this sad look on your face ?”

He didn’t need to question his daughter’s sincerity, he knew she was a very smart child, even smarter than him at her age, which made made very proud. He sometimes was taken off guard by her replies, most adults would take her behavior badly, seeing her as an insolent little girl, but her father knew better, and encouraged her to speak off her mind, but didn’t have time to actually teach her how to, leading her occasionally to trouble, but she always knew how to get her way out, for her cheerful smile and spontaneous optimistic nature made up for it, an indication of a tender soft heart but a very motivated and stubborn spirit.

“I’m a little sad for Gon, you’re going away, leaving him and I, and I know you won’t come back, at least for a very long time. I’ll miss you, I know Gon will ask about you a lot. I’ll try to be a good sister, but I won’t always be there for him. I dream of a life like yours, a life full of adventures, and it’s gonna be hard without you around. But I guess that’s what you actually want for us both.”

Her father looked at her, no emotion could be read on his face, until he smiled, softly and responded :“ You’re right, that’s what I want, and I trust you to take care of your brother, and teach him what I taught you. We will meet again, you, Gon and I-”

“I won’t search for you, I won’t waste my time doing so, I’d rather go discover and learn anything I can about the world. Gon will though, and I’d find you anyway.” interrupted Gem.

“Well, I guess you’ve already got everything planned. Very well. I trust you.”

“I know, so do I.”

“It’s time to go. We’re going to Whale Island, you’ll live with Mito-San”

As they walked back, the girl frowned for a second :“ You told me that she’s a true mother hen, please tell her that I’ll be passing my exam when I’m ten years, I can’t stand anytime later.” urged the girl.

Her father chuckled :“ I will, don’t worry about it. Study well, work hard and never give up. And never forget, you should enjoy the little detours to the fullest. Because that's where you'll find the things more important than what you want.”

Gem looked at her father, stood right in front of him, with a fierce look and a confident happy smile said :“I will Dad.”

He looked at her, then at his son, pride invading his soul, then hardly managed to stutter three words a father should say easily to his children, but couldn’t.

Feeling his embarrassment, she simply said :“I know Dad, I love you too.”

He felt less embarrassed, but still didn’t like how he couldn’t express his feelings to his own daughter. Taking her hand, he lead her to the plane waiting for them, to take them to the nearest port, a boat was ready for them, heading back the elder’s natal home, where both his and he’s two children’s paths will spread, only for the young girl to secretly hope they’ll reunite again.

Hello there, this account is a Hunter X Hunter fanfiction account, dedicated for only one story, and there’s a few things I would to clarify beforehand :

English is not my first language so I apologize in advance for any possible grammar or vocabulary mistakes, please let me know so I can fix them as soon as possible.

This story is about Gem Freecss, Gon’s older half sister and Ging’s daughter. Gem and Gon do not share the same mother, and Gem is 6 years older than her brother, which makes her an adult.

Every event and character mentioned in Hunter X Hunter are Togachi’s, other events and characters are mine. For this fanfiction, I might change some events from the original plot to go along with mine, which most of you hopefully will notice.

There will obviously some spoilers of the anime/maybe manga, so if it bothers you I advise you to finish the anime first at least.

While writing the first chapter of this fanfiction, I am at the 75th episode of the 2011 version, please take not that finishing the serie, with a quite busy schedule can be overwhelming, so I don’t guarantee a regular update for this, but I’ll try my best for the plot and everything involved.

I am open to any question, suggestions and constructive criticism, so please feel free to express your opinion !
