fictional character discourse would be more fun if we all internalized the fact that characters are narrative tools, not people. once we have that basic fact down, we can start talking about what story the author is trying to tell using these characters, whether they’re successful, whether the story itself is successful and by what means we are measuring success—which are all really fun and interesting things to discuss! but we simply cannot get to that point unless we first accept that fictional characters simply do not have thoughts, feelings, opinions, or any agency on their own. a fictional character has more in common with the fictional chair theyre sitting on than with a real person

I hate... fanon archetypes. You know how people sand down their blorbos to fit into the same handful of incorrect quote templates and then they forget their actual canon personalities because they've gone too long without engaging with the source material? I hate it. I hate it. He would not fucking say that. So I’ve seen a lot of assumptions that Aaron doesn’t have an eidetic memory like Andrew but they’re identical twins…wouldn’t he have it too? Am I just ignorant on twinhood?

Edit: turns out I was ignorant and that twin brains can develop differently after birth + memory is impacted just as much if not more by environment in which a child develops and that’s cool as FUCK

It’s so fascinating to me how much softer Kevin is when it comes to Jean like we really don’t know much about whatever their relationship is, and the glimpses we have is truly some of the most devastating stuff I’ve ever experienced. Kevin just seems so different interacting with Jean than he does with the foxes, especially when he’s alone with Jean, just the two of them

And it’s not a softness that usually accompanies the term it’s something different and uniquely theirs it makes me crazy
