I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken. It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly. The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independence, and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability and hopelessness. Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past. And this is all to say, that the next album I’ll be releasing is my version of Red.

Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way.

Sometimes you need to talk it over (over and over and over) for it to ever really be… over. Like your friend who calls you in the middle of the night going on and on about their ex, I just couldn’t stop writing. This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even ten minutes long.

Red (Taylor’s Version) will be out November 19.

Very well said! I think it’s so much better to take some time and learn the facts about an unfamiliar situation before taking a stance or making any sort of statement, as oppose to saying something uninformed, just for the sake of saying something (like just because ur expected to or because everyone else is doing it). If anyone is using antisemitic hate speech to justify a pro-Palestine stance, you are being nothing but absolutely counterproductive, and starting another war that does not need to be started. Also if anyone is looking for a good comprehensive video to watch on this issue I recommend u look up @subhi.taha on Instagram and watch his video called “map of occupied Palestine” it really helped me understand what was going on.

I don’t have a problem talking about what’s happening in Palestine. Though I am also in no way as educated about the situation as I should be. Like most Americans I have been given a rather carefully curated version of the situation. So I have been trying to do a lot of listening and learning.

What I can say is that I do not condone settler colonialism, which is what I believe is happening in Palestine and has been happening in Palestine. What settler colonialism means and more general FAQs on Palestine. And yes, I say this as someone who is a colonial settler living on the land of people killed and displaced through settler colonialism.

I can say that I don’t condone violence. I do this while also understanding that while the violence is not unilateral, it is extremely unequal. This is not a “conflict” between two equally armed forces. I condemn the violence and understand that those who feel hopeless and those who are made powerless and those who have been rendered invisible to large parts of the world can see no other way forward.

I can say that I do not support the actions of the Israeli government and state, or the United States’ support of the Israeli government. I do this while also carefully understanding that the actions of this state are not the actions of a  religion. I do this with the understanding that antisemitism and extreme violence has been wielded against Jewish peoples for centuries and centuries and that it still is today in my own country, and that the current actions of the Isreali government do not justify antisemitism. I can condemn the actions of the state with the knowledge that for individual Jewish people there may be incredibly complicated, deeply emotional feelings and beliefs around the state of Israel. That does not erase that I believe Palestine is being violently colonized and that I support the right of return of Palestinians.

I condemn Islamophobia and I condemn antisemitism all while realizing that framing this as a ‘religious conflict’ is a smokescreen for what is really happening.

Seeing what’s been escalating over the last few days between Palestine and Israel is absolutely heartbreaking. Violent acts of terrorism by the Israeli government involve trying to remove the innocent people of sheikh jarrah from their homes in an attempt to ethnically cleanse. Additionally, the al-Aqsa mosque was under attack by isreali soldiers a few nights ago. Their goal was to target innocent worshipers on a holy (and very important) night of Ramadan. Palestinians need you at this time. Raise your voice and give what you can 🇵🇸❤️
