The all-encompassing Egyptian state is architecturally symbolized by huge buildings all across the vastness of Cairo. Many of these date from the earliest years of the post-monarchical, post-colonial Republic—the optimistic era of Gamal Nasser’s socialism, which promised to propel Egypt into the modern era of the mid-20th century, and carry the rest of the Arab world with it. Here is one of those primary symbols, both of yesterday’s optimism and today’s tyranny: the State Radio and Television Headquarters, built in 1959-60 to the highest standards of international production and broadcasting. Informally known as the Maspero (the name of a nearby street that honored a French archaeologist), it rose as a skyscraping symbol of Arab modernity and unity—Cairo had long been the media, publishing, literary and theatrical capital of the Arab world, and the Maspero, its proud tower’s reflection glistening in the waters of the Nile, promised to refresh this status in a new technological age. What was decades ago a symbol of the Arab world’s embrace of progress has over time come to embody the intentional abandonment of those hopes. What had momentarily been a socialist pan-Arab miracle is today a shabby and suffocating state bureaucracy, functioning only to disseminate propaganda. In its immense dimensions, especially of its horseshoe-shaped lower portion as much as its encrusted tower block, it physically manifests the bland, decrepit brutality conjured by the term Kafkaesque.

I was showing my mom pictures I took in la today and she was swiping through my phone like moms do and she swiped too far and saw some lowkey nudes I took earlier and was like WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOSE and I was pissing myself bc my brother got in huge trouble for having/sending nakey pictures so on the spot I said super chill “oh I use myself as a reference to draw” bc I’m an art hoe and she was an art hoe back in the day and she was like “Oh nice, great collarbones” and I was like holllyyyyy SHIT how did I just get out of that

Cityscape Scratch Art by Lago Design

Seoul-based studio Lago Design created a series of scratch-off projects, which comes in the shape of a wooden pencil kit. To create the cityscape image, one must scratch off the gray area of the surface, which results in an illuminating shiny gold sight, which contrasts beautifully with the dark paper. How to change my life?!!!

i should make a move and change my life. i've started to feel like, i have not done anything useful in my life. and i’m just wasting my time.

and what i really really really hate is that everytime i ask someone what should i do to change my life they tell that i should go to crack some books. and the real problem is that i know and i’m sure that college won’t help or even get me a normal job.

the finals are knocking the door. and i have to study but i don’t want to cuz i want to change my life and something useful for myself.

HER The Movie

i’ve just finished watching her the movie, i don’t know what to say just not to make it weird for U but i’m almost living the same story, i’m in love with my gf like he was in love with his OS, we call each other all the time, and we don’t see each other this much.

i don’t know, it’s just feels weird to live like this.

am i really like him or what, the only thing that is different that we see each other from time to time, and we see how each other feel.
