shit man, this geology war is fucked. i just saw a volcanologist shoulder their rock hammer and say "pyroclastic blast" or some similar shit, and every geologist around them turned into mummies, frozen forever in poses of fear and horror, and die. the camera didn't even go onto it, that's how common shit like this is. my ass is firing rockslides and mudflows. i think i just heard 'iridium meteor fallout' two groups over. i gotta get the fuck outta here.

sorry your boyfriend got subducted. yeah he’s reintegrating with the mantle and sinking down to the core mantle boundary where he’ll heterogenize and be immediately overlayed by more subducted slab material. yeah he’s completely unrecognizable from when he was on the surface and only detectable by slight differences in seismic wave velocity. sorry :/

Disclaimer: my hatred of geologists is purely theatrical, but if I did have to kill one for some reason, it would be very easy.
I’d brandish my obsidian knife at them and they’d be compelled to approach. “That’s very cool,” they’d say, confident in their superior strength and endurance from all the rocks they carry around at all times. They’d shower me with very interesting facts about obsidian and hover just out of range of the cutting edge, waiting for me to exhaust myself. “But as it is volcanic glass, it’s very fragile, you see, and isn’t well-suited for use as a weap—” and then I’d hit them with the wooden baseball bat in my other hand, which they would not have noticed because geologists can only see rocks and minerals.

It's dunite day. We're looking at dunite. That's code for A Whole Hell Of A Lot Of God Damned Olivine. And a little pyroxene to taste! I have to somehow draw this absolute beast of a thin section. I love my degree.
The jet black stuff in the upper right is chromite btw. She's a beaut
