Why Brass is the popular metal for industrial as well as non industrial use
Brass is counted amongst the most demanded and globally utilized metals for varied industrial as well as non industrial manufacturing activities. It's the economical nature as compared to the gold & silver also make this alloy popular among the people. Not only this, the bright shine and aesthetic appeal that this metal gives off similar to the silver & gold metal is also one of the prime reasons to hike in order for the metal. Due to the distinct shine, you often see this alloy in different architectural designs. Its good malleability, corrosion resistance and high conductivity also make this preferable for electrical wire manufacturing.
Brass  is simply an alloy of copper and zinc i.e. It is made up by combining two metals into some measured proportion using various industrial methods. The proportion may vary as per the required mechanical as well as electrical properties. For centuries, this alloy has been the highly used for various purposes like designing ornaments due to its aesthetic look & brighter, adorning homes, water supply via pipes & fittings, for marine engines & pump parts etc. It is highly used as a clock and watch components, electric terminals etc. For its non magnetic nature.
Properties of this metal:
As already mention, this metal is widely used in varied industries for different properties and features that it posses. Let's see
High resistance to corrosion - This is the reason, why this  metal is highly preferred for manufacturing components that are utilized in moist conditions like marine engine, ship parts, kitchen & bathroom hardware, door knobs/handles etc.
Antimicrobial properties- People often use this for metal faucet, handles and spouts due to its properties of killing germs and viruses.
High malleability - Makes it perfect for making electrical wires
Soft metal - Electrical wire that spark less
Low melting point - Makes this  easiest to cast
High corrosion resistivity - For manufacturing hardware and components that are used in corrosive environment
Good acoustic nature: Perfect for making musical instruments
Some industrial uses of Brass:
Free Cutting Brass
Also known as  C-360, this variant is made up of copper, zinc and lead and has good toughness and corrosion resistivity. Hence, this is variant is utilized for making
Nuts, Bolts, Threaded Parts    Terminals    Jets    Valve Bodies    Pipe or Water Fittings    Taps    Injectors    Balance Weights
Red Brass
Also known as Gilding metal, this variant is made up of 95 % copper and 5% zinc. As a soft alloy, this can be hammered and shaped into desired designs thus making it suitable for craft objects like
Grillwork    Badges    Architectural fascias    Ornamental Trim    Pen, Pencil and Lipstick Tubes    Jewelry    Door Handles    Marine Hardware    Primer Caps
Engraving Brass
Referred as alloy C35600 or C37000 generally includes 1% to 2% lead along with copper and zinc. As the name suggests, this alloy variant is generally used for making engraved nameplates and plaques. It may also be used for:
Gear Meters    Appliance Rim    Clock Components    Builders Hardware
Arsenical Brass
Referred as C26000, C26130 or 70/30 brass contains about 03% arsenic along with the major metal combinations in order to enhance the corrosion resistivity suitable for moist or corrosive environment. It is majorly used for making plumbing products. Other uses include:
Heat Exchangers    Electrical Terminals    Plugs and Lamp Fittings    Cartridge Casings    Drawn and Spun Containers    Radiator Cores, Rubes, and Tanks    Locks
High Tensile Brass
This is a strong variant of brass alloy that have a minute percentage of manganese in it. Due to its strength and non corrosive nature, it is often used for products that undergo a good deal of stress. Some examples include:
Hydraulic Equipment, Fittings    Locomotive Axle Boxes    Heavy Load Wheels    Valve Guides    Swash Plates    Marine Engines    Pump Casting    Heavy Rolling Mill Housing Nuts    Bushes Bearings    Battery Clamps
