Jayma: Ryan Murphy is an extraordinary man, and I feel very, very, very lucky to know him.  From an actor’s point of view don’t be scared, his writing and directing is unlike anyone else’s.  It’s rich, it’s comical and it’s extremely unexpected.  You absolutely have no idea what he’s going to write for you, but you do know it’s going to be good.  I’m amazed.  In one scene he can give me a note like ‘I really think you should be cleaning each grape before you eat it,’ and then in the next give me a wonderful moment of being coherent and grounded and giving advice as a guidance counselor. Ryan has the ability to highlight the uniqueness in all of us, emphasizing without preaching what makes us different makes us special.  You can see it in Running with Scissors, the series Popular and Nip Tuck, the fantastic Eat Pray Love, and now so prominently in Glee, which is probably my favorite.  I feel so honored and privileged to be a part of his world, and I’m so pleased to present the two thousand ten Social Responsibility In The Media Award to the very socially responsible Ryan Murphy.
