reasons why i headcanon hirano as autistic! (coming from a late diagnosed autistic person)

1. why does bro not know how relationships work?😭

DUDE WORKS WITH A SET STRUCTURE OF HOW HE MUST ACT AROUND OTHERS. like, that's awfully neurodivergent if you ask me. like there's a set way of how he acts around each person in terms of mannerism. idk how to explain it but it's like he's been specifically told he has to act respectfully around older people, take care of peers and 'protect' younger people. he applies that to everyone based on their age range and what they are to him which makes his behavior look a little stiff, to me at least. i would've added that this also depends on how close he is with a person but bro doesn't know how to measure this stuff, like when he said many times kagiura was 'just a roommate' when in fact this is not how other people including kagiura would label their relationship.

2. apparently intense difficulty in recognizing his own feelings

this ties back to the part where i said he doesn't know how to label his relationships with people. to make an example: he would probably label his relationship with a parent as family because that's matter of fact, his parent is his family, but that's as far as he goes. what i mean is he often doesn't go past facts, like labeling sasaki as just a classmate when what he did for him goes a little bit past the classmates type of relationship or labeling hanzawa as literally just dorm advisor or president of the disciplinary committee but then go to him for advice on how to behave around kagiura?? even calling kagiura as just his roommate in front of others. i think this happens because he doesn't recognize his own feelings or emotions around others or takes a lot of time to come to terms with physical sensations, emotions, how they could be tied and how or what they're related to. with this i mean he wouldn't notice how he's feeling unless brought up or related to a situation he's very invested in daily (like all this situation with kagiura), and it'd still be hard for him to recognize and accept he's feeling said emotion/sensation (like when he's denied to himself he was missing kagiura because he remembered what miyano said😭) because it's new and basically unexplored territory.

3. he doesn't realize many things are inappropriate

I'm eepy and i really don't feel like writing all the examples down but remember that one time he insisted on making kagiura let him touch his abs? that, along with many inappropriate things he's done which he didn't even think about because he has the things in his 'guidelines to social relationships' but doesn't really know how to be nice or educated, in fact he's described as an intimidating guy with rough mannerism and kinda rude too. he can be nice, but only when he's not forcing himself to fit any 'structures' because he's a genuine person.
