Made this little gal all the way back a few months after security breach came out, I got an old furby from a charity shop and thought the base colours would be great for chika, in retrospect I probably ruined some fancy old furby but oh well

I really like how she came out :)

One major difference between the 2 furblets is the construction of the ear mechanism.

The real furblet has 3 pieces. There's 2 smaller pieces that have a spring that has a straight end, which is rested on the elevated bit on the middle which causes the tension on the spring. These 2 pieces are what keep the ears in place. The bigger piece acts as the head button and also has a spring which is used to keep it up. It has a small tab bit which is used to press the small button on the board, this button is what turns the furblet on/off.

As for the fake, the 3 pieces has been condensed to 1 large piece, and it works very well. The major difference functionality wise would be the actual button on the board. It doesn't function as an on/off switch, in fact every button works the same and all can play the same sounds. Also long presses don't do anything.

Here's a much clearer view of the front shell and the circuit boards. Other than the purple piece on the real furblet, the face part is pretty much similar.

The fake's circuit board doesn't get screwed to the furblet, and is very different. I wish I could comment on the exact differences of the architecture on the boards, but I don't know much. I just know that the cpu is not covered in the fake.

The speakers are also different and in the fake, the speaker is slotted inplace whilst the real has it connected to the back shell.

One thing to note, the springs on the ears on the fake are secured in the shell whilst they're free in the real (which makes them annoying to put back together).

Finally, here's a video comparing their functionality. The fake uses Hip-Bop's lines. I do really like the sounds of its ears snapping into place.

So ever since the fake furblets were shown off, I wanted one cuz I felt it would be a neat thing to compare to the real deal.

I was scrolling through Vinted LT and came across a listing for one. My grandmother got it 2 months ago and it has finally arrived.

So here's some images :D

Packaging

Overall, the colours are less saturated on the fake, and has a more matt finish compared to the glossy official. It also has the furblet named Mello-Nee, even though the image used is Ray-Vee.

Some of the artwork also is traced, or AI was used on them - the fake Ray-vee's art is much smoother/has less defining fur.

In place of the Hasbro logo is "Little Live" which is taken from the current generation of Little Live Pets from Moose.

The back of the fake is almost similar to the front, except for the top part which features more traced artwork.

The bottom of the fake contains many warnings but unlike the real, it does not state the company who manufactured it.

External Appearance

The one that I got had fur that was blue and purple, which the one I could closely match to was Star-Lee. It's ears and faceplate are a lime green. It's eyes are less glossy than a real furblet's and it's green with suns. It's heart gem is a hot pink along with It's beak which has an unpainted tongue.

It's feet/baseplate is a bright white, and the battery compartment is a different design, and only has 1 screw to open it. The screws that hold the baseplate to the furby's insides has 3 screws instead of 4.

The keychain is a solid red with a basic look, linked to a smaller metal one.

Note that I had already opened the fake before taking these images, and that when I first opened it, it's fur was not tucked in.

The Internals

The insides is where it gets interesting personally.

The shell casing is a different design, made with a bright white plastic, and a different layout for the speaker holes.

It's ear is one solid green piece, which is very different from a real furby where it is made up of 3 pieces, plus 2 tags to hold the skin in.

The head button is the same white as the shell.

Taking one half of the shell shows that the insides are pretty different. I will compare them more closely in the next post cuz I reached the image limit.
