The sixth producer I visited was https://www.davenportvineyards.co.uk Will Davenport started growing vines in Kent in 1991, he is passionate about making wine in the UK and doing it organically, starting with only 5 acres of vines at Horsmonden in Kent. 26 years later the vineyards now make up 24 acres and his wines have won many awards. The fifth producer I visited was Saddlescombe Farm, run by Roly and Camila http://www.camillaandroly.co.uk/saddlescombe-farm This beautiful farm is 450 acres and is situated in the South Downs National Park just 5 miles north of Brighton. They run the farm as a traditional sheep, beef and arable farm that produces the best quality meat through high animal welfare, protecting and enhancing the natural environment, and involving the local community by being a shepherd for the day, farm visits and open days. www.isaac-at.com www.gillcopeland.com

Photo Of The Day The theme of isolation seems very apt at the moment, I recently photographed the lighthouse on stilts, which sits in splendid isolation as it looks out towards the sunset on Burnham On Sea beach in Somerset. www.gillcopeland.com

The third producer I visited was Muir Jankowski of the https://brightonfoodfactory.org who I spent a brilliant day with. Muir & Brighton Food Factory are developing an ambitious non-profit enterprise, to help contribute to a resilient food system in Sussex. The model is not radical but simply steadfast belief that the food system can change through collaboration, solid organisation and efficient use of tech. Over the summer I was asked by Restaurant www.isaact-at.com to undertake what turned out to be a really interesting photography project. The restaurant is so passionate about local produce that they write the food miles of all their ingredients on the back of their menus. To try to convey this close connection between the quality of their local growers and the quality of the food that diners are eating in the restaurant they asked me to visit some of their suppliers and take photographs to make into Framed prints for their restaurant walls. My first supplier was Trenchmore Farm https://www.trenchmore.co.uk a sustainable farm, producing Sussex x Wagyu beef, Silly Moo Sussex cider and Trenchmore Heritage wheat flour.
