I illustrated my story with 52 images I made by hand, cut and glue, with drawings, paintings and old magazines ripped up. Then I scanned and embellished in Photoshop.

The character Nala, the Mapper of New York, from my upcoming illustrated Novella Map Boy. She saved Map Boy when he was young and couldn’t control his powers. He thinks the maps of her fate are the most beautiful he’s ever seen. In the world of the story, Mappers can see and manipulate the patterns of the universe—for a price.

The window. I see the sky. All that air… The universe is too close, and too concentrated.

Existence. Patterns bleed through my skin, into the blood. I want to melt these people into their seats, and the seats into the air. Fuse them beyond the trappings of blood and bone. Free them beyond the confines of this machine. Reach further than life.
