Happy 78th Birthday to Queen Camilla
Camilla was pictured smiling in the sunshine and leaning on a metal gate in front of a meadow at her Wiltshire home Raymill.

Filled to the brim with sparkling gold and silver, St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle was the setting for the dinner held in honour of President Macron, together with his wife Brigitte guests of HM King Charles during their State Visit. The Hall was constructed 1353/54 as a Banqueting Hall; a new roof was added in 1503. The mahogany dining table used today and seen here - which seats 162 - was made in 1846 for Queen Victoria and cost £ 378. It takes a team of eight people three weeks to polish the Grand Service and 48 hours to lay the table, a juggling act as seen with the young courtier standing on the table for finishing touches.

The Irish Guards' first Queen's Guard mount back in 1901.
The rifle carried on parade may have changed over the years, but the standards kept by the Micks haven't. Look out for No 9 and 12 Coy on the Major General's inspection to see how smart we can be!

A rare look at an unedited photograph of Queen Alexandra in her later years, alongside a retouched photo from the same shoot. As the queen aged, she began to insist on her image remaining youthful to the public, possibly to avoid unflattering comparisons with her husband's younger mistresses.
Alexandra had always been image-conscious, suffering from deafness and a limp due to a bout of scarlet fever. To hide a scar on her neck, she took to wearing elaborate choker necklaces and high-collared dresses, which became the fashion for over fifty years.

Buckingham Palace
They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace - Christopher Robin went down with Alice. Alice is marrying one of the guard. "A soldier's life is terrible hard,"                                      Says Alice.
They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace - Christopher Robin went down with Alice. We saw a guard in a sentry-box. "One of the sergeants looks after their socks,"                                      Says Alice.
They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace - Christopher Robin went down with Alice. We looked for the King, but he never came. "Well, God take care of him, all the same,"                                      Says Alice.
They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace - Christopher Robin went down with Alice. They've great big parties inside the grounds. "I wouldn't be King for a hundred pounds,"                                      Says Alice.
They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace - Christopher Robin went down with Alice. A face looked out, but it wasn't the King's. "He's much too busy a-signing things,"                                      Says Alice.
They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace - Christopher Robin went down with Alice. "Do you think the King knows all about me?" "Sure to, dear, but it's time for tea,"                                      Says Alice.

This is Ruby, the last horse to leave the coal mines, stepping into the daylight on December 3, 1972, with flowers around her neck and music playing to honor her quiet courage. Like so many before her, Ruby spent her life in darkness, pulling heavy coal wagons underground, never feeling the sun or fresh air. Yet these horses carried on with quiet strength, knowing when their day should end and refusing to move if the burden was too much. They worked side by side with their human partners, sharing the weight and silence of a world beneath the earth. Today, we take the time to honor Ruby and all the brave horses who lived and worked in the shadows, reminding us of their dignity and sacrifice. They will always be the ghosts of the coal mines.

This life-sized sculpture dedicated to all Irish Guardsmen, past, present and future can be found in Windsor. The statue is depicted in modern combat gear and Osprey body armour as used in Afghanistan. The piece was sculpted by former Army officer Mark Jackson, the son of former General Sir Mike Jackson, using bronze brought back from Iraq, where it was salvaged from statues damaged during the conflict.

A crowd gathers at the entrance to Rillington Place in Notting Hill, London, where a fourth body had just been discovered at number 10. Three other bodies had been found in a niche which had been concealed by wallpaper by investigators the previous day.
At Pentonville Prison at 9 am on 15th July 1953, John Halliday Christie was hanged for one of at least seven women he admitted killing, that of his wife, Ethel.

In 2023, The Princess of Wales conducted her first official engagement as the new Colonel of the Irish Guards.
The Princess was taken on a tour of the Salisbury Plain training area used by the Guards and even got stuck in with some of the training drills.
