And that's a wrap!
Hey there friends, this is the last week of my internship! Here's a sum up of everything that's happened in the last week: I met up with Danielle a lot and sorted through every single reward to find which one of you added extra to get the procrastination poster. From there I made a giant list in order from the first reward to the last. And now we're packing the posters and sending them off! It's been a long and boring process, but it's almost done and heading your way!
I will also be working next week for a while, which should be a little more interesting. Next week, we are planning to go to the mac store so that I can help Danielle pick out her new computer and look at some of the tools of the trade, then we are going to finish packing and shipping out the procrastination posters, and hopefully we will end the internship with a couples of lessons on watercolor, anatomy and comics in general! It's been a great internship and Danielle has been a great mentor, I've learned SO much about what it takes to be a freelancer and how to get myself out there, and I've grown as a person and an artist in the end :) If ANYONE has the slightest thought that they want to pursue a career in design or comics, or even illustration, GO GET AN INTERNSHIP! You learn so much and, although it's a lot of hard work, it's absolutely worth it in the end! And don't be afraid to ask someone! I shot a message to Danielle and asked if I could work for her, and about two years later here I am! Go follow your dreams people!

And Kickstarter continues!
Hey everyone! So for the past few weeks, Danielle and I have been continuing with the kickstarter orders! Not too much is different from the previous weeks, I've just been doing a lot of sorting, packaging and mailing for you all! I have seen a lot of happy responses from the comic originals that were sent out, and I'm glad that I did a good job!

Nothing too much has changed at the internship! For the past month now we have been doing nothing but preparing all of the kickstarter rewards to be shipped off! Hopefully in the next week we will be creating some art together so I can learn some processes for digital coloring and traditional media. Over the past few weeks Danielle has also taught me a little bit about the comics business! I've learned the process of creating a story, how to board it out, and how to create a successful final piece! She has also been helping me with places to use in order to set up a great website!

I feel weird to admit it, but I love packaging! My packaging duties have included tasks from putting everything in the package, to stamping them, to filling out customs cards. I've learned so much about sending out your freelanced work through this process. It's very time consuming, but when you're finished you feel very accomplished!

The past two weeks have been so much fun! I've gotten to go through tons of original strips for the kickstarter! I have been sorting through them to make sure that everyone has the exact strip (or close to the exact strip) that they wanted!

Did anyone order from kickstarter? If you have, then I've been putting your stuff together! Danielle and I have been getting all of your kickstarter orders together and shipping them off!

Starting from before SPX, I worked with Danielle on putting together her GWS Volume 8. It was a lot of work, but it really paid off in the end. Every day for a week straight, we worked from 3 pm to almost midnight putting the book together. I got the chance to work with all of the strip files, creating a table of contents, creating a collage, putting together the tour pages, and so much more. I worked in indesign for the entire process.

Hey all! For the next few days I will be updating you all on my internship so far! It's been a wild and crazy ride! First up, SPX 2014!!!!! I got to go to SPX with Danielle and helped her work her booth this year! I got to see the other side of the convention life, all of the cool behind the scenes stuff that we don't all normally see! The first night was tons of fun, we got to the hotel and got settled, then went to a meet and greet where I got to meet a story board artist who works for Steven universe! (On tumblr he goes by neo-rama)new socialized with tons of artists and it was awesome! The first day of the convention was crazy! We set up in the morning and had a super breakfast where I got to meet one of my comic inspirations Lucy Bellwood!! We worked the whole day, I helped deal with sales so that Danielle could talk to you guys and sign all of your stuff. It was super busy but so much fun! That night we went to get food with artists Stephanie Zuppo, Monica Gallagher, and neo-rama, although Danielle, neo-rama and I went to the wrong place and had some awesome food somewhere else. That night was a big social night that ended in a bunch of artists drawing together until 3am! So much fun! The final day was about the same, very busy, but I got to look at some artists booths, and man did I see some cool stuff! The night ended with an artists prom with a bunch of crazy cool artists all dancing together, and one guy got married to comics, you heard me correctly. We went home that night and got sushi with Monica and a few others which was tons of fun. That weekend was full of fun, great networking, and tons of experience in the field. Thank you to all of you who came up to thank me for putting the book together! You warmed the cockles of my heart!

The 8th Book
Hello everyone! Just two weeks ago I got to go through the amazing emotional roller coaster that was doing the layout for GWS book 8! The experience was amazing, I talked to a real designer who gave me tips on what she did with the previous books and helped answer all the questions I had (what a help!). I started making the book on September 8th, and it was so nerve wracking! Danielle and I worked every day from 3pm-3am almost every day until September 12th came along and at 10pm the book was done and ready to be shipped off to the printers. I learned a lot about indesign and about the process of putting a book together and it is an experience I will never forget. I can't wait to see the proofs!!! Nicer pictures of the book when it comes back from the printers will be taken (stay tuned in december)!
Here are a few pictures from the week that I had time to take:
