glacier you draw so often and consistently. i sometimes find myself paralyzed between having to practice or to learn new techniques online. how do i balance this out? is learning techniques often a meme?

i tend to learn by doing. i find the key to upholding good practice methods and testing new techniques is just double dipping. i end up experimenting and pushing my comfort zone a lot when im drawing my ocs or doing personal art. it's still self-indulgent and fun, but there's sometimes ways i challenge myself that ends up achieving both having fun and learning new things at the same time.

like this entire huge ass comic was a huge challenge for me. lots of different face angles (i struggle with drawing faces so much guys) and a way to test different compositions and such. but it was also me drawing my blorbo with karlach so i managed to stay invested.

it's just about balance and not sacrificing enjoyment for education. sometimes you do just have to do something very clinical and academic but there's no reason why learning art can't be fun.
