Usually I don’t like theories like this, but this makes so much sense I applaud you

anyways bitb is literally just a metaphor for growing up. There was no bugs rolan was just raised religiously and felt he was monsterous and inhuman. Kian never got bugged he just realized he was queer and it was a gorgeous metamorphosis that Becky helped him through. There was no barrier rand just felt trapped in the town and like he was physically unable to leave. Rachel’s death wasn’t the work of aliens but it was the only way rand could live with the guilt. Of course the monsters were like those in dnd, it’s because they made it all up.
