The Wicked King release is upon us! Here to celebrate is another papercraft of Jude and Cardan. Took some inspiration from a previous Cardan sketch I did a while ago (sitting in a similar throne design). Lots of ooey-gooey symbolism here. Unfortunately the contrast of the characters were lost a bit in color correction, but I can’t resist dark, evil-looking trees as backdrops. :)

A new papercraft inspired by a riveting scene from Mistborn: The Final Empire. This moment was so vivid in my mind when I first heard it; Sanderson’s writing paints a scene so lush with as little as a few sentences. I really had fun playing with depth here. Lots of weaving and warping with the mist and mistcloaks. Clip/Coin designs inspired by the official Mistborn Coins by the Shire Post Mint.

I think this piece rounds off my Wicked King recovery nicely. There is so much juxtaposition in the sequel compared to the Cruel Prince, and this one was the most literal.

Cardan on puppet strings is a very common motif among his fanart - but Holly LITERALLY made Jude a puppet on strings in the sequel that the comparison had to be made! The fact that they were both tied down due to polarizing forces offered us readers what will be the most excruciating catch-22 of 2019. (I found it hilarious Jude being so self conscious about her dress for Taryn’s wedding - I made it suuuuuper low cut)
