Discord has introduced microtransactions to make only specific users hear sound effects. Skype is back as a livestreaming platform. X is now marketing ā€œtwitterā€ as a paid-only private area to post in on X. There are clouds gathering above the field now. Thereā€™s an ache in your tooth when you eat something sweet, sharp and stabbing, but you put it off. The wind makes the puddles in the mud ripple after it rains. When you look out, you like to pretend they are deeper, deep enough to drown in. You wonder if youā€™d still be able to see just how big the cloud-heavy sky is as you fall beneath the surface. You wonder if youā€™d hear the first drops of rain. You wonder how the wind always seems to find you out there. The field is large, and it is cold outside. Come inside now. Itā€™s getting late.

i know itā€™s been said before, but it bears repeating: a big, big part of maintaining your confidence & self esteem as a creator is fully embracing the concept ofĀ ā€œyou donā€™t have to be good like them.Ā  you can be good like you.ā€
for example, iā€™m not someone whoā€™s particularly good at coming up with complex, elaborate plots or incredibly unique ideas.Ā  itā€™s just not how i choose to write.Ā  and it would be easy for me to look at someone with an elaborate, super unique plot & decide that because i donā€™t write like that, iā€™m not a good writer.Ā  after all, unique plots are good, and my writing lacks those, so my writing must not be good, right?Ā  well, no, actually.Ā  i just have different strengths, like taking a simple premise & digging super deep into its emotional depths.Ā  thatā€™s what i do well & it isnā€™t any better or worse than people who do elaborate world building or come up with really creative and unexpected plots.
your writing is never going to be all things to all people.Ā  it just isnā€™t.Ā  inevitably, youā€™ll have to make creative choices that favor certain aspects of writing over others.Ā  there is truly no getting around that & itā€™s honestly a good thing, because it means youā€™ve developed your own style.Ā  but youā€™ll always encounter other creators who posses strengths that you donā€™t.Ā  it doesnā€™t mean one is better than the other or that your writing isnā€™t good enough.Ā
comparing yourself like that would be like taking a piece of pizza & a cupcake & goingĀ ā€œoh no, that cupcake is so sweet & my pizza isnā€™t sweet at all.ā€ orĀ ā€œgosh, the garlic crust on that pizza is delicious and my cupcake doesnā€™t have ANY garlic.ā€Ā  obviously your pizza isnā€™t sweet.Ā  obviously your cupcake doesnā€™t have garlic.Ā  a food canā€™t have every single delicious flavor at once.Ā  the cupcake is good like a cupcake.Ā  the pizza is good like a pizza.Ā  so you donā€™t have to be good like them.Ā  you can be good like you.

i do think theres something sad about how largely only the literature that's considered especially good or important is intentionally preserved. i want to read stuff that ancient people thought sucked enormous balls

seems to be an unpopular opinion on here but I kind of think it doesnā€™t matter if you hold egalitarian and socially progressive values if your main political action is ā€œconvince people online that itā€™s pointless to try to make the world a better place and they should give upā€. like doesnā€™t that move us away from equity and justice what

was thinking abt the difference in how (some) people view women's products as "things companies are trying to sell to women" while men's products are "things men want as consumers" and like. men's desires are constructed by the patriarchy. this is the problem w engaging w the concept of the patriarchy as like, the culmination of every single individual man's active desires instead of a system inherently intertwined with other systems of power. like men are constructed manhood is sold to you! if you think that everything the patriarchy says about women is a lie but you take it at it's word on The Ways Men Naturally Are. I simply need you to rethink things
