“Y/N, are you coming to karaoke night, tonight?” Bucky asked you in the training room, wiping the sweat from his brow with a red towel.
“Of course,” You replied with a smile, continuing to jog lightly on the treadmill, “I wouldn’t miss karaoke night for anything.” You turned the speed down to a brisk walk, “Especially this one.”
“Been working on something new?”
“You could say that,” You smirked, taking a sip from your water bottle, “Hey, did you hear that Sharon is back from Germany?”
“Is she?” He asked, shrugging his shoulders, “I haven’t seen her around. Have you talked to her, yet?”
Oh, you lying sack of shit.
You took your towel from the side of the treadmill, hitting the stop button and wiping your face and chest, “I saw her in the hallway, a few days ago. We didn’t get to talk for long.” You hopped down from the machine and grabbed your water and phone, “I was hoping to see more of her, tonight. I invited her to karaoke night when I saw her.”
You pretended you didn’t hear Bucky choke on his water a little bit. You completely ignored how he was completely covering for his lying, cheating, piece of shit best friend – who just happened to be your boyfriend.
You had seen the texts in Steve’s phone by complete accident. You’d thought it was your phone, and picked it up – only to see the texts sent back and forth between him and Sharon.
‘Baby, I miss you. I can’t wait to see you, again.’
Sent by Steve.
You felt your heart break into a million tiny pieces, as you realized that the last few years clearly meant nothing to him. He’d known that you had been cheated on in the past, and he knew how hurt you had been. You’d thought he would have been different. You’d thought that his forties values would keep him from straying.
Clearly, you should’ve never trusted him.
The phone had conversations dating back six months. You saw that Sharon was coming back to America a few days from then, from the texts in Steve’s phone. From the looks of it, she didn’t know that you and Steve had been dating for almost two years. She had been undercover until seven months ago, and Steve was on a mission in Germany when she had gotten back from her own mission.
Clearly, they had seen each other, there.
You and Sharon were like long-distance friends – you could go forever without seeing or hearing from each other, but there was nothing but love and happiness when you saw each other, again. You loved her.
Which made this betrayal so much worse.
He’d played you both.
You’d gone through the immediate emotions after reading the texts. Heartbreak, not feeling adequate, wondering where everything went wrong, wondering if you just weren’t someone worth a relationship, wondering how many other girls there were, etc. The one emotion that stood out the most, though, was anger. A deep, resonating anger. One that fueled a fire in your heart. Anger that made you not want to just break up with the cheating asshole – but to get revenge, as well.
You just needed to get Sharon on board.
“Sharon!” You hugged her when you saw her in the lobby, the day she arrived, “How long are you back? I’m grabbing lunch, you want to join me?”
“Of course. I’m back for a few weeks, then headed to DC.” She smiled, looping her arm through yours, “How have you been? I haven’t seen you in forever. I missed you.”
“Oh, I’m awesome.” You both exited the building into the warm, summer air and headed toward your favorite diner down the street, “I’ve been training a lot, I took up axe throwing, and I’ve been dating someone for…” You pretended to think about it, “almost two years, now.”
She stopped you both, a look of glee spreading across her face, “Oh my god! You finally started dating, again? Tell me everything! I need all the details!” She was practically bouncing in place.
“Well, Steve asked me to coffee one day, and we just hit it off from there.” You continued to grin, pretending you didn’t feel her stiffen up and see her face fall slightly, “We’ve been dating ever since, and… you know, I think he’s the one for me. I think I want to spend the rest of my life with him.” You saw her face turn white, and tears prick her eyes. You couldn’t keep this up anymore. “No. I don’t think he’s the one for me, actually. I like my men monogamous. Hard for Steve to be monogamous when he’s been sleeping with you, huh?”
She took a step back, tears brimming her eyes, “I am so, so sorry. I had no idea that you guys were dating! He never said anything, and I thought that I could trust him-”
“Sharon, I’m not mad at you.” You sighed, running a hand through your hair, “You aren’t the one who cheated, and I figured you didn’t know. I saw the messages. I trust you.”
The tear that was brimming her eye left a trail down her face as it fell, “I am so sorry, Y/N. I never would have… I didn’t know.” Her face went from hurt to animosity in a matter of seconds, “That fucking prick. I can’t believe he played us!”
You put your hands up to her face, wiping her tears with your thumbs.
Then, you looped your arm through hers, continuing your walk towards the diner, “Don’t worry, I have a plan.”
“Holy shit, girl, you look hot.” Natasha raised her drink at you, as you walked into the club with the cheater. “Steve is one lucky guy.”
“Don’t I know it.” Steve grinned, arm around your waist. He pressed a kiss against your forehead, “I’m the luckiest.” Should have thought about that before you cheated, asshole.
You smiled up at Steve, acting skills on-point as you leaned up and pressed a loving kiss against his lips, “Don’t you ever forget it.”
Bruce handed you your usual drink, “Sharon is here, she was asking for you. She’s at the bar.”
You bounced a little in your heels, pressing a small kiss to Steve’s jaw, “I’m going to go catch up with her. I missed her.”
Steve let out a nervous chuckle, taking a swig of his drink, “Alright. Let us know when you’re going to go sing. I don’t want to miss it.”
“Oh, honey, trust me.” You smiled, winking at him as you walked towards Sharon – who was waving at you and ignoring Steve, “You won’t miss it.”
He looked confused for a moment, catching something in your tone - and quickly turned to the team, nervously, to strike up conversation.
Natasha was giving you a look – one that definitely meant she had also caught your tone, and was trying to figure it out. You sat down next to Sharon, turning to Natasha and giving her a wink.
Natasha looked at you, then Sharon – and burst out laughing, earning some weird looks until she waved it off.
“You really do look hot, you know.” Sharon bit her lip, flirting as she motioned the bartender for another round, “Steve is going to shit himself.”
You looked down at your attire. Your black dress was definitely meant for a club. It was a tight, high neck, sleeveless dress that flared at your waist to mid-thigh – but there were so many cut out mesh panels, that your top half of your stomach was on display, as was chunky strips to flash your cleavage. The icing on the cake, was that there was another mesh panel that ran along the middle of the flare in the skirt – exposing more thigh.
Paired with some fuck-me pumps… you looked sexy as hell.
“Alright, next singer!” The karaoke DJ called out over the speakers, “We got a real VIP in here, tonight, ladies and gentlemen! The Avenging beauty: Y/N Y/L/N!”
“That’s my signal!” You downed the rest of your drink, grabbing the new one Sharon had bought you, and strutting up to the stage with confidence.
You leaned over to the Karaoke guy, double checking that he had the song correctly, before walking over to the microphone stand, “This song is dedicated to my boyfriend: Steve Rogers.” You winked at him, and he raised a glass to you.
Little did he know: he was about to get his lousy, lying, cheating ass called out in front of the whole crowd.
“Oh, you broke my heart!” You let all your fury out in that first line. Your heart warmed with pleasure when watching Steve’s face jump from a big smile, to a complete look of horror and shock. “I told you I was weak for love, but then you went around, and did what you wanted to do… And now I’m crying, crying.”
The entire crowd seemed to turn to Steve, looking at him in disgust with the little bombshell that you just dropped in public.
He shrunk a little, chugging the rest of his beer as you continued glaring at him.
“Ooh it seemed like everything was going fine. I found the love that I thought was gonna last.” You smiled at him sadly, before your face fell into disappointment, “Then I accidentally saw a few things in your cell. I even LOL'd…” You laughed, quickly, shaking your head in dismal. “Man I should’ve known.”
You pushed your feelings down, putting on a façade of indifference. “Why, why you’re doing what you do? You, you might as well just tell the honest truth. See I’m not really down with this.” You shook your head at Steve, eyes narrowing. “This ain’t no texting shit. Know I got no biz, but it is what it is…” You shrugged your shoulders, ripping the microphone from the stand and starting to work the crowd, walking from one end of the stage to the other. You could see the cellphones, as people recorded your little show. “I don’t really have much to say. I was over it the second that I saw her name.”
“I got two, ooh ooh letters for you…” You placed the mic back into the stand, needing both hands for this. “One of them’s F!” You raised your right hand, middle finger high in the air, “and the other one’s U” The left hand joined your right as you stared into Steve’s angry gaze. “‘Cause what you gotta do, is go get yourself a clue.”
“Only two, ooh ooh letters to choose.” You grabbed the microphone from the stand, again, dancing along with the song, “One of them’s F and the other one’s U. SMH, I’m pressing send on you.”
The karaoke DJ joined you in the song with the male vocals, “Could’ve been this, could’ve been that. We done been there, we done been back.” You joined the vocals, putting on a show of flirting with the DJ, leaning on his side, grasping his bicep, and popping your foot up behind you, “You ain’t with it, could’ve said that. Why you tripping, let me hear that. I ain’t trying to argue all morning. I do it all for you. You know you’re my right eye. Baby let me show you.”
You turned back to Steve, walking to the edge of the stage and pointing right at him. “Oh I know what’s been going on. Don’t even try to act like Mr. Super Nonchalant.” You motioned at Sharon, who winked at him from the bar. “What makes you think I’ll stick around. I’m not as stupid as you sound and you sound really dumb right now.” You blew Sharon a kiss.
“From A to Z, ooh. I got a lot of nasty things, blowing up in my head. But none of them are worth my time. You’re not even worth this rhyme, And I don’t, I don’t give a flying.” You flipped him off, again, turning to the crowd, “I don’t really have much to say. I was over it the second that I saw her name.”
“I got two, ooh ooh letters for you.” You pointed across the crowd, getting them to join along with the hand gestures, “One of them’s F, and the other one’s U. ‘Cause what you gotta do, is go get yourself a clue.” You strutted to the right side of the stage, where there was a pole on a platform. You gripped it with your free hand, wrapping a leg around the pole and leaning your head back as you sang, “Only two, ooh ooh letters to choose.” You swung around, gaining a loud roar from the club as they sang along, “One of them’s F and the other one’s U. SMH, I’m pressing send on you.”
“Ooh ooh two letters for you yeah, letters for you” You stepped off the platform, dancing your way to the DJ as he joined you, again.
“What you trippin’ on, huh? Girl you know you’re wrong, huh.” The DJ spun you around under his arm, and you ran your finger down the front of his shirt when you came back to his body. “Don’t let these girls drive you crazy”
You motioned for Sharon.
“I don’t really have much to say, I was over it the second that I saw her name.” Sharon joined you on the stage – and you grabbed her hand, looking over at Steve, again. His baby blues looked like they were about to bug straight out of his head. “I got two, ooh ooh letters for you:” You held up the first middle finger, “One of them’s F.” Sharon held up the other, “and the other one’s U. 'Cause what you gotta do, is go get yourself a clue.”
“Only two, ooh ooh letters to choose: One of them’s F and the other one’s U. SMH, I’m pressing send on you.”
As the song ended, you grabbed Sharon by the back of the neck, plunging your hand into her hair, and pressing your lips against hers. The crowd went wild. You put on a show - tongues fighting for dominance, and her hands were grabbing your ass roughly. You were letting all your anger out in the kiss, and Sharon was showing the same amount of enthusiasm.
When you pulled back, you looked straight at Steve, “Also, I fucked Sharon, too.”
You held out your arm, and dropped the mic.
