personal new moon reading for the present moon cycle, ending may 25 🌚
1. Where am I in life at the opening of this cycle? High Priestess At the doorway between the physical dimension and another; at the border between consciousness and sub- or unconsciousness. Comfortable with intuition and allowing Spirit to speak in its own ways. Accessing higher feminine powers of wisdom, feeling, emotion, dreams, and creativity. Initiated into life’s mysteries. In balance. Passivity, allowing. In a period of reflection and meditation. Perhaps dealing with repressed emotions or thoughts and a reliance on others’ validation.
2. What is blocking me from growing? The Sun This is a card that is speaking personally to me in this position because it is the card I associate with a lover who is not presently in my life but has been on my mind a lot and causing me some anxiety. I have also been looking forward to the summer as if all of my problems will disappear then, as if quite literally the sun will suddenly appear and melt away all my anxieties and discomforts. This card in this position is confirming my hunch that for the time being I need to leave behind these desperate hopes and obsessions for a quick cure-all and instead focus on balance and slow but steady progress. It may also speak to blocked joy: focus on the future instead of allowing joy to be experienced in the present moment.
3. What intentions should I set in order to grow? Three of Cups; Ace of Wands Two cards popped out and wanted to answer this question for me. The Three of Cups speaks about friendships, harmony, and relationships that ‘click’, though not necessarily romantic ones. It is a card of celebration, oneness, joy, dancing and drinking. It is a time for me to focus on my friendships and about getting the most joy and partnership from them that I can, and also about celebrating how far I’ve come and the turning of the season. I should intend for the next cycle to be one of merriment, communion, and harmony. The Ace of Wands is primarily a card of creativity and action, advising me to follow my own power to create, manifest, and pursue my own happiness. It is a time to begin long-term creative processes and follow hints and offers that come my way. I should intend to express myself fully and follow passions.
4. What knowledge do I need to gain to aid in the cultivation of my intentions? 2 of Swords Denial of true feelings. Feeling stuck and perhaps afraid to accept a situation in its entirety. Avoiding unpleasant truths. Refusing to act. Overprotecting the heart. Closing off to avoid conflict. Alternatively or in addition, closing oneself off from the outer world to meditate and sit with energies of balance, the moon, and watery emotions. This card, alongside the Three of Cups in the previous position, suggests that I need to reconsider when, why and how I close myself off from life, particularly relationships and emotions; there is a sense of reprimand from this card, instructing me that closing off my heart and denying past pain is no longer going to work.
5. What positive energy will emerge during this phase? Justice; 3 of Swords Again, two cards wanted to answer this question. Justice speaks of balance and karma, the law of return. It also speaks of logic and protection and taking responsibility. This card is instructing me that if I act justly and fairly, I can expect just and fair return. It also speaks of decision making and understanding. Read alongside the Ace of Wands, Justice is instructing me to have faith in my own power to influence karma. Next to the 2 of Swords, it encourages me to deal with my denial of emotions by reassuring me that I will get what I give. The Three of Swords is generally considered to be a negative card, spelling heartbreak and grief. The image of three swords piercing a heart is really interesting considering the idea of blocked emotion and overprotection of the heart that the 2 of Swords advised me about. Perhaps this card spells a release from past heartbreak through finally allowing myself to acknowledge, accept, and feel this pain without fear.
Bonus clarifier card: The Lord of the Underworld (Celtic Shaman Deck) This is a card of change, ecstatic movement, and the rectification of inbalance. The Lord could be King of the Fairies, Hades, Odin, or Cernunnos. It speaks to the confusion and active subconscious I have been experiencing in the last few months and suggests that great karmic movement is happening beneath the surface. It speaks to the fearful journey of entering the underworld of the subconscious but reassures me that, like nature, the wheel of karma continues to turn and every action has a balanced reaction.

❣ Simple Palmistry ❣
(Main Source)
Palmistry is the practice of reading a person’s palm to learn about different aspects of their life. Palmistry is heavily entwined with the idea of predestination. Palmistry “has been spoken of in the Hindu scriptures and the old testament. Palmistry most likely originated in China or India and was used by the ancient Greeks and Romans”. (x)

Short Head Line: The head line is located in the upper part of the palm. It is said to be indicative of your intelligence and gives the palm reader an idea of your approach to problem solving. A short head line denotes a no nonsense thinker who comes straight to the point and they don’t bear fools lightly.
Long Head Line: “A long head line reveals that you are a deep thinker with a rational approach to problem solving”.
Straight Head Line: “A straight headline denotes a deep and thoughtful thinker.”
Curved Head Line: “A curved head line belongs to a person who is imaginative and has an intuitive approach to problem solving, this line belongs to a creative person.”
A Sloping Head Line: If you have a sloping head line you are most likely artistic and creative and tend to be less practical in your approach to problem solving. Authors and Poets often possess this line.
Horizontal Head Line: If you have a horizontal head line you likely have a straightforward and no nonsense manner.
Forked Head Line: If you have a forked headline you find yourself to be full of ideas, possibly have entrepreneurial skills, and can be an excellent mediator.
Floating Head Line: If you have a head line which is not anchored to any other line you possess a carefree attitude towards life and are always ready to help those with a less than relaxed approach.
Head Line That Starts Under The Index Finger: If you have a head line that starts under the index finger you may possess a quick mind and easily accomplish academic success, you love to read and are always ready to learn.

The heart line can reveal not only what has or is happening in your life, it can also reveal why things happen the way they do.
Curved Heart Line: “A curved heart line is considered a sign of a sensitive and demonstrative person, very romantic and forthright in love. The curved heart line starts under your little finger and curves up to between your middle and index finger.”
Strong Heart Line: “A strong heart line reveals confidence and emotional stability, someone who is self possessed and able to make astute emotional decisions with clarity.”
Weak Heart Line: A weak heart line is indicative of someone who is likely to have difficulty in relationships due to insecurity. If revealed early in life, they are able to work on self worth issues to foster self confidence.
Straight Heart Line: “A straight heart line belongs to someone who is more reticent to show emotion, a passive romantic who needs the other person to make the first move.”
Heart Line Steep Curve: “If your heart line curves steeply and dramatically ending in between your middle and index finger, you may have an active libido. If the line curves up towards the index finger you should choose your partners very carefully.”
Heart Line Curves up to the middle finger: If your heart line curves up to the middle finger you may be quite needy and insecure in romantic relationships and when you are aware of this, you are able to work through your anxieties.
Heart Line Straight And Short: “When the heart line is straight and short the person will have a rampant sex drive and be short on romance".

“ The life line actually reveals the quality and the vitality of your life. A life line that is deep denotes fewer problems than a line that is fine and difficult to see, the difficulties of life are easier for the person with a deep set line to cope with and they are usually more resilient mentally, emotionally, and physically. If the life line is deep and red is shows a more aggressive personality. The life line is often joined to the head line which runs parallel. The point of separation between the heart line and head line reveals when you became independent from your childhood home. If there is a faint line within the life line this is called the line of protection. Breaks in the life line show times where there are challenges.”

The fate line runs vertically up the middle of the palm. Sometimes the fate line runs from the bracelet lines on the writs to the mounts of the fingers thus revealing influences in your life.
Fate Line Missing: “Don’t worry about a missing fate line as this means you have control of your destiny.”
Extra Long Fate Line: An fate line is considered extra long if it goes past the heart line. This denotes a very long and active life and early success in life due to ambition and will to succeed. “The difference between your active and passive hand is how you have developed your natural potential. A strong fate line means you have taken charge of your life and learned how to maintain balance. A weak fate line shows there may be a lack of control and you need more balance in your life”.
Fate Line Beginning On Your Life Line: “If your fate line begins on your life line it reveals a close bond to your family in your childhood. You will have influence over others if your fate line ends on the mount of Jupiter. The mount of Jupiter is located at the base of your index finger.”

The Moon “The Moon is the card of intuition, dreams and the unconscious. The Moon provides light as a reflection of the Sun, yet this light is dim, uncertain, and only vaguely illuminates our path as we journey toward higher consciousness.”

Quote
In the world that we live in today, there is a constant pressure projected onto us each and every day. We are told that we must continuously work hard, make more money, and acquire more possessions. Then, and only then, will we be considered as ‘successful.’ Right? No, not even close. This road only leads to a life of pure discontentment. Before we get dragged into this cycle, we must first consider what ‘success’ truly is, and it may be slightly different for everyone. Take a moment to ask yourself, and see what you have to say. What do you consider to be successful? Yes, for some it may involve making some money during your lifetime, although make sure that, what ever it is, it’s your own opinion, not society’s.

Hello, all! 🔮 🌀 👋
My name is Chelsea. Recently, I have begun a period of intense self-transformation, and a major part of and help on this journey has been an increase in my attention given to spiritual matters. I decided to begin this blog primarily as a place to explore tarot and oracle cards, including recording my own readings and exploring spreads, but secondarily as a spiritual catch-all. Please feel free to follow me on my journey, and follow my main blog (link in desc)!
To begin, I decided to use Beth Maiden’s Deck Interview spread to reacquaint myself with the three oracle decks I own. I think this is a wonderful spread to use in beginning a partnership with a deck, because as any reader knows, decks and cards have minds of their own! This spread is useful in that it allows the deck and its cards to speak for themselves concerning what they can offer you, both in terms of the way they were designed and their own personal quirks.
Here are the interview questions as given by Beth and added to by myself:
1. Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic? How would you symbolize yourself? 2. What are your strengths as a deck? What should I come to you for? 3. What are your limits as a deck? What problems can’t you help me solve? 4. What are you here to teach me? Why did you come to be in my possession? 5. How can I best learn and collaborate with you? How should I use you? 6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
To begin, I decided to interview the Camelot Oracle deck by John Matthews, illustrated by Will Worthington. This deck was a gift from my mother chosen based on my love of Arthurian myth and history and is a truly prized possession of mine. It’s a deck I’m still a stranger to.
Here were my draws:
1. Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic? How would you symbolize yourself? → Nasciens
Ah, I love this. I didn’t know who Nasciens was before doing some reading in the deck’s booklet, but I didn’t have to do more than look at the card before I understood my answer. The card’s illustration is that of an old, wiry hermit, with sightless blue eyes and a kind look on his face, standing in the midst of a forest. The booklet informed me that Nasciens’ primary aspect is that of ‘contemplation’. His character is that of an elderly ex-knight-turned-hermit, whose eyes lost their sight as he stared into the Holy Grail (analogous to the Cups suit in the Rider-Waite deck, the concave womb with all its female mysteries, seeing-pools, scrying mirrors, etc.). Nasciens is an elderly relative of the knight Sir Galahad, and helps the latter to Camelot to be knighted initially. This deck is profoundly spiritual in nature, and holds arcane secrets that everyday eyes cannot see. It is thoughtful, ancient, and visionary. It is concerned with wisdom, emotions, and journeying through other planes of existence.
2. What are your strengths as a deck? What should I come to you for? → The Questing Beast
The image on this card is one of a frightening, yet calm, hybrid creature drinking from a forest pool. The creature appears ancient and dragon-like, certainly a mythical beast of archetypal proportions. The deck’s booklet reads that the Beast’s primary aspect is ‘testing’, alongside ‘seeking’, ‘challenging’, and ‘mystery.’ It also tells of Merlin’s explanation to King Arthur that the Beast’s purpose is simply to serve as the purpose of a quest. Again, the idea of a meeting with an archetypal character deep within a forest occurs. This deck offers to test me and give me purpose along my journey; it offers to help me face my fears and encourage growth and practice.
3. What are your limits as a deck? What problems can’t you help me solve? → Igraine
As a Mists of Avalon fan, I know a bit about legendary Queen Igraine, consort of King Uther and mother of Arthur and Morgaine. Here, she is pictured as a smirking, invitational, middle-aged queen sitting on her throne, seemingly challenging the viewer to best her. The deck’s booklet speaks of the ancient nature of the archetype of Igraine- mother and wife- and reads that her primary aspect is that of ‘ancestral wisdom’, alongside ‘motherliness’ and ‘faithfulness’. Perhaps the deck is telling me that it is more concerned with my personal issues than with connecting me to wider archetypal patterns of humanity, and that it cannot offer me the kindness and resolution of a mother- instead, it will encourage me to journey on my own, and try to trip me up along the way.
4. What are you here to teach me? Why did you come to be in my possession? → Balin
The image on this card shows a balding, stout warrior, appearing a bit worse for the wear. The booklet speaks of Balin’s impulsiveness, determination, and hot-headed courage; he is a brave warrior through and through, and rarely pauses to think before he acts. One of the issues I am currently dealing with in my life is anxiety and over-thinking, alongside lack of self-confidence: this deck is going to help me learn the value of confidence, bravery, and blind faith.
5. How can I best learn and collaborate with you? How should I use you? → Galahad
Interestingly, Galahad is that same young relative of Nasciens whom Nasciens brought to Camelot to be knighted. The card depicts a young and handsome warrior, almost angelic or elfin in appearance, wearing a smile and large, calm eyes. The booklet tells that Galahad’s primary aspect is ‘spirituality’, alongside ‘clarity’ and ‘truthfulness’. In Arthurian legend, Galahad is one of the knights who eventually succeeds in reaching the Holy Grail! The deck asks me to submit to its experience and wisdom (Nasciens) and work with it to seek spiritual truth.
6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship? → The Resolute Path
The image on this card is one of a path over the water to a blissful island of apple trees- the Isle of Avalon! This is an especially lovely pull to me both because of my love of the Mists of Avalon and another reading I did recently related to journeying over water, which should be detailed in one of my next posts. Like the Holy Grail itself, Avalon is intensely feminine and spiritual, representing clarity, spiritual oneness, and calm. This deck is very clearly telling me that Avalon is on the horizon, and it can help me get there!
