anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.

i only just today heard about Kumanjayi White, a 24 year old disabled Warlpiri man who was killed by northern territory police on May 27th. He was handcuffed and forced to the ground, face down, with an officers knee on his neck. He was walking around a grocery store, by himself. A worker at the grocery store described him, saying, "One look and you can tell he's got special needs".

A poor and disabled Aboriginal man was killed in the northern territory and i can't help but notice the similarities to George Floyd. Murdered in a public place, knee on the back of his neck. Only difference is i havent heard a word about this anywhere, in the news or otherwise, since it occured 2 and a half fucking weeks ago. where's the anger? i dont like making political posts, i hope this doesnt break containment its just. god its fucking pissing me off right now.

life for gaza - raising money for the gaza municipality to repair water and waste management infrastructure

taawon - partners with local civil organizations to provide food, water, medical care, shelter, and basic supplies

the sameer project - running various initiatives providing tents, medical care, and necessities. they have their own encampment project focused on sheltering families with children, sick and disabled members, or members in need of perinatal care

islamic relief worldwide's gaza emergency appeal - provides food, water, hygiene kits, medical supplies, and psychological support

baitulmaal - provides a variety of necessities, including food, water, shelter, and medical supplies

hygiene kits for gaza - provides hygiene supplies including menstrual products, wipes, and toothbrushes/toothpaste

anera - provides a variety of necessities, including food, water, hygiene supplies, medicine, blankets and mattresses, and psychological care

palestine children's relief fund - provides supplies and support with a focus on children. also has an initiative for lebanon

so, eddington. everyone says it's a pandemic movie, but it seems to have nothing to do with the pandemic, only with the politics & policies surrounding it. which i'm not saying are unimportant, but the *ongoing* pandemic is above all a public health & disability issue, and i have yet to watch any media that claims to be about covid19 and actually deals with covid19. does this? because ari, as much as i like him, has a bad track record with disability. right now it looks to me like the actual covid movie this year at cannes was made by julia ducourneau, which is weirdly not being framed as such at all (bc of the blood transmission angle and i guess we can't extrapolate anymore, not like hiv & sars-cov2 have a ton in common or whatever idk). like i hate to be pre-emptively angry at a movie that i don't know that much about, but it really sounds like eddington continues the trend of pandemic media that ignores the impact of the actual pandemic in favor of the impact of pandemic policies on healthy & abled populations
