gnxhongki:
hongki was relieved when his father said he could go home for the day. in a small town, the hardware store wasn’t actually that popular. they got consistent customers. his favorites were the ones who wanted to “improve” something in their home. then they called his father and mother to come fix what they tried to “improve”.
that day was a slow one. it was the middle of the week anyways, so he was glad to get out. his father knew he wasn’t going to go home. he tried to spend as little time there as possible and then he usually got an ear full, but his parents rarely ever told him no. they felt too guilty for his illness, but their fears were still too strong.
as he left the store, checking his watch, he heard eunbi. he glanced at her, raising a brow then he looked at how she linked their arms. eunbi was outgoing. they used to get along a lot better in their past because hongki used to be the same way. he’d always cling to people and demand their attention, introducing himself to strangers and talking to several people an hour. sometimes he missed being that person, but the eyes that usually looked back in his were full of sadness when they realize at any minute, hongki could suddenly forget who he was. their pity and his bitterness made him into who he was now.
eunbi was one of the better ones. he knew she pitied him, but she refused to show it outwardly. it was a relief, even if he knew the truth. “you’re not giving me a choice, eunbi,” he pointed out.
If there was one thing Eunbi was, it was forward. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or to be clingy to people, especially when she wanted the attention from them. Hongki was no exception. Sure, they weren’t as close as they were back when they were kids, but that wasn’t going to stop Eunbi from giving it a try, anyway.
Did she wish that Hongki could live without the cloud of his condition? Yes, of course, she did, but she wasn’t about to treat him any different than anyone else. “Nope! Not a choice at all. You’re with me now, isn’t it great? Doesn’t the sun seem a little brighter? I think I hear more birds singing even,” she chimed in, ignoring the fact that yes, in fact, she really wasn’t giving him much choice or his own personal space.
“You’re not working right now, right? That’s why I saw you leaving the store?” she asked, slightly skipping to keep up with his strides. “I won’t have any part in your being negligent to your job,” that was partially true, a half fib. She wouldn’t mind being the cause, but she wasn’t about to share in the responsibility of what would come from it.
“It’s warm today, should we get some ice cream? That sounds great, doesn’t it?”

We Are Who We Are || Eunbi & Hongki
@gnxhongki
Eunbi wasn’t someone that normally grew tired of being her own company, but she was very much a social butterfly if she wanted to be. This particular day, she was wandering about the town, trying to see if she could bump into someone, anyone, to hang out with for a while. She wasn’t shy, so she would try and talk up a total stranger if she had to, but she’d rather make the best use of her time and meet up with someone she knew.
The hardware store was not exactly the place she thought she’d find said person, but sure enough, just as she was approaching it, out walked Hongki. They’d known each other for a long time now, since they were both in Gaenari their entire lives, so she was more than willing to approach him. She knew how people tended to treat him with his condition, but she would treat him just like he was anyone else. Besides, who could forget her? Even if he did, she knew she was in that brain of his somewhere, she’d help him remember.
“Hongki! It’s been a while!” she exclaimed, coming up by his side, grinning widely at him. “So, how you been? Wanna hang out with an old friend? Huh? Huh? Of course, you do!” she said, linking arms with him and not really giving him the chance to speak on the matter.

gnsora:
Fuck people.
That’s the phrase that came to mind whenever Sora managed to catch a snipit of people talking about her like she was some hot topic. Sora was boring, mundane, at least she was trying to be for the time being. Her focus was on saving up money for… the future, whatever it was, whatever she decided it would be. At this point she wasn’t sure, but that didn’t give people the right to go talking about her. Some interesting theories were being spread around, and it was getting on her damn nerves. Did they not have anything better to talk about?
These thoughts tumbled through her head as she manned the floor at work, some peppy little number twittering her way inside the shop to pull Sora from her thoughts. She forces a hint of a smile - the extent of her customer service etiquette - as she heads over to help her. She takes the first question seriously, beginning to look through the shades on display while glancing to the customer’s face to get a gauge on her skin tone and undertones. She picks a tube of peach lipstick but stops before she can hand it to her, the question about the idol taking her off guard. Her face goes stone cold, like it always does, and she puts the lipstick back, shifting to try and hide her nametag before directing her attention back to this nitwit. “Yeah, it’s true. Why do you ask?” Sora was going to play along, for now, and get every detail she could out of this girl before she put an end to this stupid gossiping.
She looked at the other’s hand as she paused, lipstick being held aloft, but not being passed to her and for a moment she contemplated asking if she was alright, but before she could react, the saleswoman had placed it back into its spot. “Not the right one?” she asked, as though nothing was wrong with that. “It did look nice though!” she was still as friendly sounding as ever, but soon the other had turned her attention to her and she knew it was time to get to work. Hearing a confirmation that yeah, there really was a former idol, or at least someone who was going to be one, anyway was there, she decided to see what the other was willing to part with for information.
“Oh really?” her voice was inquisitive, ready to get into it with the other. “So, I have some sources that told me that she was forced to leave,” she began, not actually having any sources other than her own imagination. “They told me that, get this, that she had a pregnancy scare. Turns out she wasn’t, but it was too much for the company to risk, especially...and this is the really juicy part,” she was grinning slyly, on a roll now and she couldn’t stop herself. “Turns out, she had a sponsor. You know? The guys that pay money to have some... one on one time with idols?” she asked, thinking that this was some prime gossip, even if she was making it up as she went. “And he was the one that it almost happened with. Isn’t that wild? I’m not sure how she ended up here in town, but that’s crazy right?”

💘- A memory that gets their heart pounding
💘- A memory that gets their heart pounding
TW: Alcohol
It was a dark corner of INSIDE, the music pumping through the club was loud and Eunbi had been invited to join a few people that she didn’t know at the time that she had been dancing with, in a booth. She normally didn’t drink too much, so she was just a little buzzed, not drunk at all. So when one of the girls from the group suggested that she give her a kiss, she was definitely sober enough to make the decision on her own. She had always found girls attractive, but had never done anything about it. She knew she liked guys too and had certainly kissed them before, so why not go for it? She’d be just as happy with either one, in her opinion. So she did and she knew she was not mistaken in her liking of both men and women. She only wished she had gotten the girl’s name that had helped her figure it out...

💕 (you can make it about children she knows or knew)
💞- A memory about their children
Eunbi actually really likes taking care of kids, though she’s not sure if she wants any of her own. She used to babysit when she was in high school as an after school job. Her favorite was a little girl that she used to watch. They grew really close, enough so that the little girl called her her “big sister”. They’d usually end up eating together and then watching a movie and Eunbi would help her get ready for bed by reading her a story. Unfortunately, the family moved away from Gaenari when the mother got a great job offer elsewhere. Occasionally Eunbi still gets letters from the girl, though they have become less and less over the years.

❣- A memory that leaves them laughing
People from out of town were the best people to mess with, since they didn’t really know what to expect from Gaenari. A fond memory was pretending to be a tour guide. She wasn’t quite sure how it got as big as it did, but she had nothing planned for the day and she found a tourist who wanted to know the “hot spots” of the town. Well, she had sent one tourist on a wild goose chase in the past to the rice fields, but this time she decided to be helpful, though not honestly. She told them they were in luck and she was the tour guide and that they’d be starting their next tour in five minutes and where to meet her.
Five minutes later, she found that the tourist actually had a couple other family members with them and she started walking along, telling them the “true history” of Gaenari, not the kinds of things you’d read about online. None of it was true, mind you, but she still had fun doing it. Before she knew it, they had picked up four or five other people for their impromptu tour, a couple of them were even locals trying to figure out what was going on. She will never forget that time.

💛- A memory that makes them feel angry
Anger isn’t really something that Eunbi really holds onto. She might have little bursts here or there, but she’s kind of like Teflon, nothing really sticks to her. That being said, if she sees an injustice, she’s someone that feels she should spring to action. One hot summer day, she found something that got her blood boiling.
A parked car, all windows up, with a dog inside. She checked to see if the car was running, she knew some people would leave their car running with the air-con on in it to keep the cool, so she shouldn’t jump to conclusions, but no, they had not. She tried the door, but it was locked, so she looked around seeing if anyone was around, and not seeing anyone, she grabbed a rock from the side of the road and smashed the window. She then unlocked the door and carefully swept the broken glass away so the dog wouldn’t hurt itself.
Telling it to “stay”, she then went into a nearby store and bought it a bottle of water and a cup to drink it out of. While the dog was enjoying the cold water, she sat down on a bench nearby to make sure that it didn’t run away and waited for the owner to come back. She told them that she hadn’t seen anything... as she drank from the bottle of water.

💚- A memory that makes them feel guilty
Often Eunbi’s life motto is to live with no regrets. She, of course, has some, just because to have none is somewhat unrealistic. That being said, the majority of the time, she doesn’t feel guilty for most things she does, even with her mythomania. Sometimes just slightly, though, she feels it a little bit. She ran into a tourist one day, just someone passing through the town, who stopped and asked her for directions, as they were trying to reach the art gallery in South Star. Now Eunbi knew exactly where Glimpse was, she had been by it hundreds of times, more likely than not, but she just couldn’t help herself, and she gave them directions. To the Heo’s rice fields.
She came back through later that night and saw them sleeping at the bus stop, the last transport having gone by earlier in the day. She assumed that because of her directions, they had ended up having to fully backtrack to find their true destination and had missed their bus. Shrugging it off, she felt a little twinge of guilt that they had missed it, but she immediately reconciled it with herself that the would have a great story out of it and got to explore the scenic fields of Gaenari in the process.

❤️- A happy memory that makes them smile
She remembers good times when she was younger, going down by the river and playing with other kids. They’d spend hours upon hours down there, though they were always careful around the water, it wasn’t the cleanest back then so they made sure to stay out of it. Now the water’s been cleaned and today’s kids can have fun there too and actually swim. Back then, it was almost like a boundary for their games of tag or just laying around and listening to the water rush by. She would never trade those times when life was more simple for anything. She honestly would love to have them back.

💙- A sad memory that makes them cry
TW: Death
This memory is bittersweet because it leads to an eventual happy part of her life, but she still cries remembering the first dog she ever had. She still remembered the day it passed away. It was old, granted, but still, she was saddened by it quite a lot. The dog had been one of her best friends growing up, chasing after her while she went out to play, cuddling up to her when she was feeling down, she loved the dog a lot.
When she was little, she used to ask her parents what kind of dog it was and they would respond with “corgi”. Her young self had trouble remembering this, so when asked what kind of dog she had, she would cutely and incorrectly reply “goyangi”. A few years after her pet’s passing, her parents surprised her with a new corgi puppy, which they had pre-named for her with her mistake, telling her the story. That is how she ended up with a dog named “cat”.

💘- A memory that gets their heart pounding
She still remembers that day, getting caught in the rain. It was cliche, but cliches are cliches for a reason. She didn’t have her umbrella and all of her friends had already taken off. He came to her rescue, she thought he might be a little older based off of the uniform, but she didn’t know who he was. He held the umbrella between them, instructing her to keep close. It was one of those stupid crushes at first sight moments and at that moment, it was just perfect. She often wonders if she could catch that type of moment again someday.

💝- A memory that made them feel loved
It’s something that a lot of people experience, but having her mom and dad come to her high school graduation and seeing just how proud they looked when she got her certificate always made her heart feel big. She knows often that she might not be making them proud now, but she always looks back at that day and tries to do a little bit better. She hopes to see those smiles in person again instead of just in her head.

💝- A memory that made them feel loved
TW: Food
Once in grade school, she was supposed to bring in food for her class. She was told this a week ahead of time, which meant ten-year-old Eunbi had a week to distract herself with other things and ultimately forget that she was supposed to do so. Jolting out of bed at midnight, she rushed to her parent’s room, practically falling onto the floor to wake them up, tears streaming down her little cheeks. They scolded her and told her to go back to bed, that she should have let them know about it when she had first heard about it.
The next morning when she made her way out to the kitchen, she found multiple containers filled with gimbap along with her father, who had fallen asleep at the kitchen table after staying up late and making it for her to bring to school so she wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of her class.

💜- A memory about one of their loved ones, happy or sad
Eunbi was once really sick with the flu a few years ago. The kind of sick that you can barely leave your bed to do anything. She remembered how her mom would come in and even though she was too old for bedtime stories, read to her. She was feeling too weak to hold the book she had been reading and her mom, even though she had no idea what it was about, went into it full gusto for her. She would bring her soup and feed her in between pages, get her a cold cloth for her forehead. It was like being a kid all over again and she loved every moment of it. While she might ditch the orchard most days to wander, any time she’s asked by her mother to help out, she does so without complaint and with a warm smile on her face.

❤️- A happy memory that makes them smile
One thing that makes her happy looking back on it is when she was in high school and won an award for her work with the school newspaper. It only cemented her want to become a journalist someday. Even though it’s been several years since he graduated, she still holds onto this memory, even still proudly displaying the trophy. Some may think it’s a little lame, her holding onto a high school moment like that, but she could care less. That moment means more to her than a lot of people could ever know.

💗- A memory about a good deed they did
She still remembered the day she found him, her pet crow, Baekdu. He was just a little chick that had fallen out of a nest and had been making his way across their property. She barely caught him before one of the barn cats did. His little wing was crooked and he could only hop around. She scooped him up and carried the little bird around, trying to find the nest he had came from, but to no avail. Crows were certainly not uncommon in their orchard, but she hadn’t seen a nest at all.
Carefully she brought him back to the house and together with her mom built a little nest for him and Eunbi went to work procuring worms and anything she could think of to feed him. They brought him to a vet who helped set his wing and they brought him back home to recover. He did make a recovery, but when she tried to set him loose, he would just end up following her around. He seemed to know not to leave the yard or the orchard, since those were the only places that she had ever taken him and he’s been there ever since!

💙- A sad memory that makes them cry
TW: Death
There honestly isn’t much that makes Eunbi cry, she tends to hold herself together fairly well, or manifest her feelings in a different way, usually in some form of acting out. If she had to come up with one thing that would, it would have to have been the fact that she never got to say goodbye to her grandmother. It was a few years ago and she was feeling one of her rebellious teenage moods and she told her parents that she wasn’t going to take their weekly trip to go see her grandmother, that she “had plans”, which, of course, she didn’t. Between that day and their next scheduled one, her grandmother passed in her sleep. Eunbi never really forgave herself for that and still cries if she thinks on it too much.
