....I began my life of faith in the Methodist Church and I studied theology at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary. But when the time came to plant a church, I joined the Baptist denomination because I knew the spiritual value of baptism. It wasn’t until later that I discovered a critical limitation of the Baptist denomination. It ignores the command to receive the Holy Spirit and the spiritual gifts that He brings to those who believe. The Pentecostal movement, which emphasizes the work of the Holy Spirit, first began in a Sunday school of a Baptist Church in the United States. However, the Baptist denomination completely rejected the Pentecostal movement. Today, even though the Pentecostal movement has gone global, it is still limited in that it does not recognize the universality of power to every believer which is one of the experiences Jesus clearly spoke about. The Pentecostal movement stressed that every believer should receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues, but it falls short of Jesus’ assertion that, “These signs will accompany the believers.”....

Today is the birthday of Kidong Kim, the senior overseer of Sungrak Church. He was born in 1938, and twelve years later, in 1950, Korean War broke out on his birthday. He spent many days of sufferings in his young age. He struggled to survive in the devastated circumstances. He has preached 'the Picture of God's Will' in the Bible as the founder of Berea Movement (Return to the Word).

May God bless and comfort our spiritual leader, Kidong Kim!

Many religious people imagine heaven as a place from where their dead loved ones look down on them. That’s where sayings like, “My father is watching me from heaven above” come from. Heaven is not like that. There are two meanings for the word we commonly use for heaven. The first is what we generally call the atmosphere, the sky, and space. It is a place that exists within the physical universe. It is spiritually called Hades also. The other is the spiritual heaven, which is the kingdom of God. Jesus said, “In My father’s house are many mansions.” (John 14:2) That “Father’s house” that He was referring to is heaven. When God created heaven, He also created angels there. Some people think that our home in heaven was made at the time of creation, but it was not. The preparations for our heavenly home only began after Jesus entered heaven. Jesus told His disciples, “I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and take you to be with me, that where I am, you may be also.” (John 14:2-3) Why would Jesus, who can do anything simply with a command, tell His disciples that He’s coming back to take them to the place He is preparing for them if he had prepared the place already?

...Jesus said that those who believe in Him will do greater works than He did. (John 14:12) What does He mean by greater works? Baptism. Jesus came to the earth and redeemed man from their sin through His death on the cross, but not once did He Himself perform a baptism, through which people may experience redemption. It was only after His resurrection that He said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19) Of course, His disciples baptized before that, but it was a baptism by water like the baptism of John. (John 4:1-2) Baptism is an experience in which a man’s soul is united with God. Since, as Jesus’ disciples, we have been charged with saving-souls, we ought to preach the gospel and baptize anyone who believes...
