A Start
With so much going on in the world right now (7/1/2020) it would seem the most foolish time to start a blog. Police are out of control in the US, the “news” is more concerned with Entertainment value than facts, and a plague is killing at a rapid pace that half the Population wants to ignore. Here I sit on a rainy morning to try and figure out my place in this chaotic time by typing into the void with a free trial of Square Space and a cup of coffee to convince myself I matter. Its not all doom and gloom for everyone out there, however, people are getting married, having kids, and experiencing some joys for the first time in their life. I myself just made a big cross country move with my significant other, a fun 24 hr road trip and 5 years of saved up money have led both of us in a better place than we were before. This, like any jump in life, comes with growing pains; buying a broken washer, leaks in the new apartment roof to name a few. It maybe easy to focus on these problems and stress over each detail but you have to keep in mind of all that you accomplished to get to a point in life to even have these issues in the first place.
It is hard to keep that in focus now, it will always be difficult in times of change and uncertainty. Every time I go on social media I am given another reason to be angry, to be depressed, to be disgusted at humanity, and believe we can only do evil. You are given a choice; hunker down and ignore it until it goes away or to be apart of a movement of change for the better. Too many worry about how life will be like after death wile ignoring the hell around them, as if the suffering of others means nothing if it is not themselves suffering. People are out there in droves, every week, sanding up for what is right, to make a change to this world for the better. What are they given for there efforts? A leather police boot to the face, indifference from those who want to hide, and hate from those who benefit from their suffering.
Yet they continue to push back against hate and injustice, this is what we must keep in mind -what I must keep in mind- to keep our sanity in a time where there seems to be no end in sight. We have progressed so much to get this point and this is a growing pain in our society that, together, we can push through. It is a Start.
