“Thank you,” he mumbled before stepped in. Yami knew Hikari, he knew that the girl wasn’t the one to trust stranger; all the more he appreciated the fact that she didn’t just have him leave. 

Yami didn’t let himself do anything without Hikari’s permission, being even more careful with her than usual. So he didn’t come is as if he’d have normally done, just waited for her to invite him to the living room, or wherever she liked.

However, there was one matter he found himself just unable not to pickk up. “I assume you don’t remember me, but... do you remember anything? Like, what were you doing a few days ago? I’m sorry, I just–” It was awkward; awkward as hell, but also hard, because looking at her and seeing no familiar feelings from her was like... Even hugging her was not an option.

Hikari blinked, noticing the body language of his form appeared to be rather tense for some reason. Did she do something wrong? All she did was say that she really didn’t know him, yet…

She squeaked a bit as he asked to come inside. Normally, she wouldn’t just let strangers inside of her house in fear of what they could possibly do to cause harm, but seeing that this man actually knew her and appeared to be rather upset, she couldn’t help but allow it. 

“A-Ah, s-sure…C-Come in.”

“If you answer my question, I can ever rhyme for you.”

"Long time no see."

“Seems like you’ve missed me.”

Hikari blinked, her eyes showing confusion and the unfamiliar recognition in them. Truly, the small glint in her eyes proved that somehow this wasn’t a cruel joke, a prank for Yami to fall for. Indeed, this was really happening, that she really didn’t recognize him.

Did this man know her? Probably, considering he actually knew her name and appeared to be an acquaintance. Yet, she didn’t…remember…

“A-Ano…G-Gomene, s-sir. D-Demo…I-I really don’t know who you are.”

So that wasn’t a joke – and awareness of it terrified Yami, causing his eyes to widen. He found his hands shaking involuntarily.

What the hell could happen that during just one day all of Hikari’s memories had got vanished all of a sudden? He understand completely nothing, but there’s must’ve been anything he could do. “I’m–” Yami hesitated for a moment, not sure how to say what he wanted, just like there was no way to express what he was thinking without confusing Hikari, and making her feel uncomfortable would’ve only worsen the situation.

Yami took a breath.

“Please, don’t call me ‘sir’,” he asked, trying to sound calm. “May I come in?”

"Long time no see."

"Seems like you’ve missed me.”

“Huh? No, no. To be honest, completely on the contrary. I met up with Aibou, and now I’m just heading home,” Atem smiled at the girl, his arms crossed over his chest. They had never spent much time together, nor talked a lot, but now – surprisingly – he found himself really comfortable with Serenity’s company. “How about you? Are you going somewhere? If not, well, you can just go with me.”

“I’m really glad to hear, that you’re doing this good.” she said in a relieved and happy way. “May I ask, where you’re going to? Are you going to meet up with the others by any chance?” She didn’t wanted to be too persistent, so she wasn’t going to ask more than those two questions. After all, it was his privacy. And it wasn’t like she was one of his closest friends.

The apartment wasn’t far from the place where they’d met, so they got there just in a few minutes. Yami wasn’t used to greet guests; he usually spent time alone, but it was more like his personal choice above anything else. However, he was always a good host, especially for such a special guest like Yusei. 

“Fancy for something to drink?” The Pharaoh asked as he let the other in, and led him to the living room. “Or to eat? I’m not sure how tiresome it is to travel in time, but... Well, just make yourself comfortable.”

“I agree, there’s nothing that has surprised me. There has always been so much that has happened,” Yusei said with a smile, nodding in agreement with his friend. “Of course. let’s go talk and actually catch up on everything.” He nodded following his friend.

After those self-harsh words, Yami couldn’t help, but let out a soft laugh. “I see you really believe in yourself,” he teased, but he was still talking to her in a very friendly way; especially the meaning of the following words was supposed to Nadia, at least a little. “You shouldn’t think like that. I’m not good enough, I won’t accomplish it... They are not the proper phrases to repeat in order to reach your goals. Try harder, and  tell yourself that it’s possible.” Everything was possible; he’d realized it long time ago. Maybe in a little different way that he was trying to encourage Nadia, but she definitely needed to change the attitude.

“That’s why I’m here,” he explained with a shrug. He barely knew the girl; that answer was definitely much more safe to say. “Ancient Egypt is what I’m the most interested in, but I try to get to know more and more about the history. On my own,” Atem added with a shrug, but was’t even sure whether the girl cared. However, sometimes talking just to talking itself was nice, even if they wouldn’t meet again.

She smiled weakly then shrugged. “I guess…it’s not often that I meet new people these days.” She said sheepishly. Plus there was the fact that she thought Yami didn’t like her based on their last encounter; even though he has shown subtle tones of kindness. Nadia was just a little bit more skittish than normal.

She took a deep breath then sighed. “I think you’re right, what you said, saying that trying is important. That’s all I was doing, except, I’m not sure if I’ll really be submitting it for a grade.” Nadia said with a chuckle. She thought she could do better and she had some more time to do another sketch before submitting her sketchbook to her professor.

Silence consumed the room once more as Nadia gazed around the room looking at all the artifacts. Even though she was struggling with adjusting to Japan, history always remained the same. Wherever she went history never changed. “Do you like history?” She mumbled out loud, not expecting much of an answer; ust trying to break the awkwardness between them

"I hate contracts, I literally hate them because you cannot get out of one once you are in one."

“So why do you get in them, anyway?”

"E-Excuse me, sir? B-But, do I know you?" (M!A! XD And I MISSED YOU!!!)

That was the very last greeting he’d expected after knocking onto the door of Hikari’s apartment. No. That was something he’d never expected, not with the uncertain look in her sapphire eyes, not with that stuttering tone, which he hadn’t already heard for a while, since she’d stopped to do it that often when they’d got very close to each other.

But now she was standing right in from of him, treating him like a stranger, Yami really wanted to believe that it was that kind of bad jokes, which are more creepy than funny, yet, on the other hand, Hikari seemed like the last person willing to make them. 

However, he preferred to believe that all of a sudden his girlfriend wanted to scare him. “Hikari,” he started almost calmly, “it’s really not funny.”

“So did I. But, I must admit, there’s rather nothing what could surprise me anymore.” Saying such things usually was a little dangerous, but with everything he’d already experiences, Atem felt like he had a right for that. “You also don’t look shocked,” he chuckled. “Well, we finally deserve a proper friend talk, just like do it normal people, who don’t have to fight to save the world, using cards.” That would’ve been funny in the most creepy way, if suddenly something terrible happened, and there was something more than just a friend talk. However, everything was calm, eventually. “Let’s just come to my apartment. It’s not a long way from here, but you could tell me how were you since the Paradox thing.”

Yusei returned his smile, and chuckled. “We do. I wouldn’t mind being you a visit, I just didn’t think after Paradox, we would be able to meet again,” the duelist admitted. Though, he was glad that they were still able to meet. He’d still love to be able to meet and talk to him because the short time they had spent together, he had enjoyd their conversation thoroughly. He was an interesting person with an interesting history to him. “We do. Do you want to talk out here or go find somewhere to talk?”
