it's the consequence of his own actions that damages jayce's leg.

his hammer - with everything it symbolizes - crushes him. so later we see jayce dismantle it to brace his leg.

jayce lets the past go with all it's mistakes, leaves it behind and climbs up, and then, and there, he gets a new hammer. a new promise. a new oath.

wtf is jayvik.

you start off as lab "partners." heimendingle tells u to destroy it bc hes traumatized by the arcane but hes immortal, hes old, hes not afraid of death the way all humans are; jayce talks abt legacy, progress, and memory here, all lies of scientific hubris (ian malcolm's "whether or not you should" comes to mind here) but that's bc for aiap jayce is young, jayce is alive, ofc viktor would want to work w this fresh blood compared to hingledeimer's apprehension

contrast w the mortality crisis viktor has that spurs on this final need for legacy... w the audacity of the melce sex scene to be portrayed as cosmic orgasmic soulmeshing sex intertwined w the merging of viktor and hextech via blood-- both of them make their betrayals to each other in this way, both of them stop forging a path together and autonomously make a diff path.
