Art is a way for us to speak to each other without words. It gives a voice to those who feel like they do not have one and allows us to participate in the world we live in. From the beginning we've always made it a point to collaborate with other artists who speak to us, listen, and share the goal of creating a community of expression that perhaps would not exist without the voices lent through our different mediums of art. Three years ago Meghan Kelly invited Goldblum to perform among other local musicians at Buckham Gallery on what is known as 1st Friday at Buckham. As a longtime resident of Flint, this opened my eyes to other artists in the area that I had not been exposed to prior to the invite. This ranged from musicians, poets, and even circus performers. Noting that Meghan is an artist as well, we asked what the cost would be to commission a piece for a shirt design. Meghan offered to donate her work to us. I don't believe we would have had the opportunity to perform Goldblum songs alongside as many interesting performers without her reaching out to invite us to perform. With that said, we decided the best way to say thank you would be to donate proceeds from the sale of these shirts designed by Meghan and printed by Flint City T-Shirts to Buckham Gallery. Art is not about what you get in return, but what you can give back. These will be available at all of our shows. Thank you Meghan for your time at Buckham Gallery 🖤
