Lust drunk or simply wine drunk, Grace can’t tell the difference but his acknowledgement of just how differently the night might’ve gone a glass or two ago sends a thrill down her spine. He wanted her, too.
His groan has a self satisfied giggle loosing itself from the blonde and it’s as she pulls back a little that she realizes just how difficult she’s making it on the poor man. While on a clear headed night she might’ve blushed and gingerly removed herself from the situation she’d caused but then again, she wasn’t clear headed and he’d admitted that if she were, she wouldn’t need to excuse herself. A smirk pulled across Grace’s lips, her gaze falling a moment to where his fingers drew designs along her thigh before rising to find his again, “And you are?”
Fingers twined, the woman brought his knuckles to her lips, brushing featherlight kisses across them. Another time she’d wonder if for all the trauma, all the hurt, this was their prize. If Daniel was always meant to be the grounding force of her life, the rock that made her stronger even in moments she didn’t think she could be. Was she something like that for him? Even with all this moment had cost him, did he regret it?
Grace rested their joined hands against her chest as her free fingers gently drew along Daniel’s features, that smirk having cooled some though the smile remained as she traced along his cheekbone, down his nose, across the lips that she would gladly kiss again and again and– “You’re so beautiful,” she murmured almost reverently, fingers drawing along his jaw to brush his mussed hair from his face before pressing a soft kiss to his cheek, “so– Good.”
“ Oh I am behaving like a gentleman, ” he assured her, a smirk to match hers crossing his face. He could definitely have been doing so much worse. He really wanted to be doing worse.
His eyes move from her lips as they ghosted over his knuckles to her chest as she draws their hands down. It isn’t in a perverted way. ( In all honestly he never really’d leered at her as others blatantly had Fitch. ) He’d definitely flirted shamelessly but he’d known there was no interest then. It had been safe. Now he had to be careful. He wanted to be respectful. Less of his former asshole self.
She made him want to be-
                                                                    “ Good. ”
He remained still as her free hand began to trace over his features. It was like he was holding his breath as she explored him. If anything she was the beautiful one. He was clean currently. He was unshaven. He was ruggedly handsome from what he’d heard. But he’d never been called beautiful.
Turning his face slightly he stole a kiss before she could pull away. Leaning forward he began to switch their positions, moving to tower over her now instead. The hands between them were drawn to his chest now, over his heart. The hand on her thigh moves to the floor beside her to support himself as he begins to practically lay on top of her, gently.

@goldcnsouls asked mistletoe - for Grace from Daniel; accidental
MISTLETOE ASK !
Tumblr media
“You’ve got to be kidding me-” a sigh almost fell immediately from her lips, having bumped into Daniel in her own rush to find Alex. Any sort of party the Le Domas’ threw always made her feel as though she were sticking out vibrantly against what seemed to be a very curated family aesthetic. And here, in the rumblings of the Le Domas holiday party, of course she would find herself in a wavering situation like this in the center of it all with Daniel.
“You do remember that you’re a married man, right? This sort of thing doesn’t really fit in the vows-” a part of her still a little bitter that Alex hadn’t proposed, the daunting married lives of the people around them making her feel a bit on edge. She took a moment, taking a long drink out of the champagne flute between her fingers before leaning up, pressing a short, gentle kiss to his cheek. “Call it even?”
“ I do in fact, ” he said. “ You may want to remind my wife. ”
She was over smoozing with his father and many of the other rich men.       And it wasn’t like he’d done it on purpose. Why did his family always blame him for things that were beyond his control? Grace wasn’t even officially family and she was doing it. He wasn’t paying attention when he felt her lips brush over his cheek, bringing him back to the situation at hand.
“ Oh come on, Grace, ” he nearly tutted. “ We can do better than that. ” A smirk played on his lips as he looked down at the blonde. Of all the people at the party she was probably the one he least disliked. By a long shot. So he felt a little bad at goading her. ( He’d been avoiding his father and wife for most of the evening due to wanting to avoid liver failure. A lot of his time had been spent with his brother and trying to keep his little sister from falling flat on her ass. Ah, the woes of an eldest sibling. )
Taking a sip from his glass of bourbon he’d refreshed only minutes before for the third time he raised a brow. “ This is a holiday party after all. They’re expecting a show. ”
Also, had she really needed to drink her whole flute in order to give him a peck on the cheek. Honestly he was offended. He might not have been cute in the same sense as his brother but he was pretty sure that ruggedly rich handsome was supposed to give him something.
Taking another small sip he leant over slightly. “ Don’t you want to make my brother jealous? ”

In all honesty, Grace would be happy to just sit here, making out like a pair of teenagers who ended up with an empty house but as Daniel eagerly reciprocates, the feeling of his fingers gripping her hips and holding her close sending her heart singing, she knows that’s not all she wants. Impatience and greed have her wanting more, her fingers searching for the skin revealed by his opened collar. Heartbreaking need craving the feeling of his skin against hers, no more barriers, no more hurting and being haunted by the experience that brought them together. Just bliss and sharing it with the one person who now knew her better than anyone else.
She trusts Daniel, how long has it been since she could really say that of anyone?
He pulls back and for a moment her fingers curl into one half of his shirt, ready to pull him back. She’s needy and craving him. It’s as his head comes to rest against her chest though, that she realizes how hard she’s pressed on the gas and how far over the line she might’ve stepped. Still as he catches his breath against her, her fingers lace into his hair, savoring the feeling of being close to him like this, being held– wanted by him. Her own breath heavy and quick as she cradled him close.
Heavy lidded and breathless, she studied his handsome face as he draws his line in the sand. Good to her. He’s always so fucking good to her and it threatens to have her leaning in again to pick up where they’d left off. Instead she turns into his palm as he tucks a stray wave behind her ear, pressing a gentle kiss there. One hand slides over his own, holding it against her cheek as she smiled softly, “And if I wasn’t drunk?” A brow arched. Sober she knew she wouldn’t tease him when he’s already shown her so much kindness, but without the barrier of second guessing herself, her wants are far less hidden than usual.
The blonde leaned forward, her lips grazing the curl of his ear, her voice little more than a whisper, “I promise you, my answer is yes whenever you’d like to continue this.”
His eyes follow her movements as she kisses his palm.
“ And if you weren’t drunk, ” he said, twining their fingers at her cheek, “ We’d be using far less words. ” Daniel leaned forward to press a softer kiss to her other cheek. Before he can pull back she whispers in his ear something that causes a chill to course through him.
“ You’re killing me, Smalls, ” he all but groans into her hair. If there is such thing as karma this is payback for all the flirting he’s done in the past. Though his probably hadn’t provoked any sort of reaction like hers is currently. She’d been with Alex back then and he was just a drunken loser. A rich one, but still a loser. He may have been related to the Le Domas dominion and married but he hadn’t had shit. Not like he might now is current situations were anything to go by. Now he possibly had the best thing.     And he didn’t want to fuck that up.
Pulling back he sighs, looking at her. “ You’re not making this easy, you know. ”
Daniel’s other hand still resting on her hip slides down slightly, thumb tracing patterns on her outer thigh. She’s making it harder and harder to think clearly. It doesn’t help that his body is betraying him the longer she is over him. Her hair is almost like a halo around her thanks to the light from the fireplace.
He wants to give her everything but it will have to wait. At least for a little while. He wonders if this is how Hades felt when Persephone had come into his arms. Almost scared to touch something so pure and powerful. So much better than himself. Though he’s telling her to leave he can’t seem to let go.

Before she can get too far a hand has lifted and slipped into her hair, pulling her closer again as he finally presses his lips back to hers. He feels bad that he can’t match her previous kiss’ energy. He tries at first. He does. But her lips are so inviting and sweet. His tongue slips out to gently taste the Riesling mixed with her own sweetness. ( He’s sure she can taste the bourbon on his lips that has practically become his water since the incident. )
A deer in headlights. Frozen in place as Daniel just– She should’ve known better. This was wrong and so, so presumptuous and they’d been drinking but fuck if he didn’t smooth the rough edges of her heart. He said all the right things all without even meaning to. He just was the right thing. But that doesn’t mean she has the right to be all over him like this. Sloppy she was so sloppy and selfish. He wasn’t hers to kiss, no matter how safe he made her feel or how an almost forgotten warmth had begun to flicker within her whenever he was around.
She’s about to bolt, an apology poised to fill the space made as she begins to pull away when his fingers slide into her hair. His lips meeting hers in a kiss that steals her breath away for a moment. All that nervous rigidity melts out of her body as she relaxes into his hold. Warm touch frames his jaw line as she returns his kiss in earnest, her mouth yielding to him, the sweetness of her drink cut by the smokiness of him. The taste of him all consuming and warm and enticing.
Clearer headed, she would’ve pulled back, given him a soft smile before excusing herself but she’s practically starving for affection. Words left unsaid that later she’d hope he couldn’t taste on her tongue. It’s that needy ache that has her crawling into his lap, her knees settling on either side of Daniel’s hips as she moves closer to that warmth she so desperately craves. Finally some selfish part of her aches with and in the wake of that relief a newer, more impatient heat flickered to life.
If he wasn’t already scheduled to go to hell Daniel feels like this kiss will do it. What starts out as innocent ( or as innocent as kissing your former in-law can be ) quickly is starting to turn sinful. Warmth flows out of her and quickly heats him up. What normally feels cold and dark is gaining a reprieve; the sun is reigning down on him.
He feels her moving over him. Hands greedily pull her closer trying to soak up all her light; or at least what she was willing to give him. The kiss has deepened the longer they are close. All he wants is for this to never end. For her to keep returning his kiss. To keep showing him affection.
Something is stirring in him, lighting a fire, making him desperate to not let go. His hands fit perfectly on her hips, holding her in place above him. Daniel continues to taste her, drinking her in.
    Drink.
He can taste it on her lips.
Slowly the thought begins to register in the back of his mind. He’s used to staying up all night and consuming enough to put down a small army. His liver never thanks him but it is one of the only ways he can get to sleep; He can keep his family out of his head. But Grace is different. She smokes, yeah. She’ll drink with him sometimes but her tolerance is definitely below that of the last Le Domas. And they’ve had a lot to drink tonight.    She isn’t sober,      his mind points out to him. She brushes against him slightly and he can feel his body’s reaction beginning to grow. His resolve is weakening.    Does she really want this ?     Does she really want you ?
He’s starving for someone to actually want him.
She tastes so sweet.
‘ You're a good guy. You're a really, really, really good guy. ’
    Fuck.
They need to stop. But he doesn’t want to. His body, really, doesn’t want to. He can feel himself coming out of the spell he’s been put under from the booze and the woman in his lap. He savors the kiss for another moment before pulling back abruptly.
Forehead rests on her collarbone for a moment as he breathes heavily. She literally stole his breath away. Fingers are still pressed into her sides, holding her. He pulls back to lean against the couch behind him. “ We have to stop, ” he says, voice hoarse. Daniel tries to clear his throat. Sound more sure of himself. “ We can’t do this right now. ” A hand moves from her hip to push some hair behind her ear. “ You’re drunk. ”

She’s still as he speaks, her gaze more shrewd than she means it to be as she soaks in his perspective. For everything her ex was, Daniel is not. Alex manipulated her, Daniel is candid, always, with her. Alex was withdrawn, Daniel is open. Alex used his secrets against her, Daniel… Well, she was was certain no matter what questions she had, no matter how uncomfortable the topic, he’d give her the truthful answer. If only she’d known the right questions to ask before it’d been too late.
You deserved so much better.
The words resonate more than Grace could ever say. In the days and weeks following Alex’s betrayal she’d struggled with the role she’d played in her own demise. She’d wanted so badly to make things work with Alex. No matter how badly it hurt when he’d push off the idea of marriage, no matter how distant he felt sometimes, she’d held onto him tighter, sure that if she was good and right and perfect enough he wouldn’t be ashamed to bring her in front of his perfect family. And she’d paid for it in spades.
Her glassy gaze fell to his fingers as they worked the button at his neck free of its loop and a newer, different emotion swirled its way through her and pushed aside the sadness for a moment. Instead a curiosity that’d bloomed inside of her settled front and center. Riesling stained lips press together a moment. In the time since they’d become the last two standing she’d managed to push those feelings aside. Daniel was mourning, as was she, over their respective losses. They both had so much to heal from regarding the night that’d landed the two of them on the floor beside one another, how could she even begin to think of Daniel as anything other than her former brother in law? Hell, according to the lawyers, there was still some concern about the legitimacy of that term anyways. Paperwork was signed, but not filed. Was she even really married to Alex before he’d died?
Did that make the fact that she’d been staring a little too long at the skin revealed by him opening his collar less weird? She couldn’t be certain but thanks to the wine that’d previously brought on tears, now had her shifting her position to settle on her knees beside the man who’d done more for her in their short time of knowing one another.
You deserve so much better.
The clarification is enough to push aside her reservations. Her touch is warm as she gently cups his cheek, drawing his attention to meet her gaze. Her lips pull into a nervous smile but the liquid courage pushes her to close the distance between their lips in a sweet kiss. The gesture is gentle, questioning as her lips linger against his. Just for one moment she wanted to repay the kindness he’d shown her, even if he wasn’t interested in anything else.
He’s still feeling so adamant about his declaration that he doesn’t at first register Grace moving closer. It isn’t until her hand is on his cheek that he turns to fully look at her. Really look at her. He sees the nervous smile. The initial indecision. Then her lips are on his and he doesn’t know what to do. His mind .... it’s short circuiting.
It’s so light and sweet he isn’t sure how to respond. It’s not something he is used to. The women he’s been with either want something or don’t kiss him. Lips at least aren’t on his.. His wife certainly never kissed him like this. Not even in the beginning. He was used to lust and want. To emotionless. Or needy.        Not tenderness. Not the sweetness. ( Though that may have a bit to do with the white wine they’d switched to. Either way he found he liked it. )
He still hasn’t responded. He can feel her start to pull away.
Shit.
( He’s sure she can taste the bourbon on his lips that has practically become his water since the incident. )

The rasp of Daniel’s voice has her tugging the corner of her bottom lip between her teeth, guilt making her stomach knot. She hadn’t thought of what the tube would’ve done to his throat. At the very least she’d wanted to fill the awkward space she felt, but instead the discomfort that’d settled over her in the quiet time alone after being brought from the burning mansion only deepened.
Long legs folded under herself as Grace settled back into the seat she’d sprung up from, her shoulders shifting in an uncertain gesture. “I don’t know…” That wasn’t exactly true, she had an idea of what had kept the eldest brother from succumbing to his wounds… Or, at least, what had brought him back after he was gone. But right now the last thing she wanted to talk about was the figment she’d seen in the flames that’d claimed the family home. He had taken enough for the time being.
“I told the police it was a business deal gone wrong. Sorry about the family name, I just figured it seemed a little more palatable than–” Her words trailed off, sea glass gaze falling to her fingers folded in her lap as she fussed with the sleeves of the oversized sweatshirt. Ritual sacrifice seemed a darker stain than a questionable business partner. At least it explained the various wounds and bruises on both of them a little.
“I’m sorry.” The apology, was more of a platitude than any legitimate remorse. In the quiet hours since their arrival she’d had her own time to come to terms with the loss of Alex (in more ways than one) but for Daniel– What did her sitting here cost him? The Le Domases were fucked to say the least, but they were his family, his wife. Fuck.
The elder Le Domas looked at her incredulously, or with as much energy to do so as he could. She was apologizing to him ? He shook his head slowly at her, not wanting to agitate anything else as he continued to slowly become more aware. He tried to push himself up slightly but quickly put a stop to it as it caused his neck to hurt.
He returned his attention to the water, finishing the glass probably faster than he should have. He didn’t care. He needed to talk; needed to know what happened. But he was very tired.
His eyes looked he over as best he could from his position. If he wasn’t so pumped full of drugs or whatever it was he was on ( did blood loss last this long? and speaking of how did he have any blood left? ) and hooked up to monitors he would have been in front of her. Fingers feeling and prodding her over to make sure she was really okay. Like a parent with a child that had just escaped a horrible accident. Which in a way she had. Though accident wasn’t the right word.
He needed to feel her. To feel someone else alive; to reassure himself that he wasn’t really dreaming dead. He supposed the pain from his neck wound had shocked him enough to know this was real but the want was still there. He needed reassurance. It could wait.
Daniel tried to bring himself back on track. A business deal gone wrong. Right. Okay.
“ Tony was always pretty shit at business deals. ” It was probably a miracle amazing Le Bail had stayed with the Le Domases this long. Only getting a few goats for keeping them afloat? Daniel would have held out for a better deal personally.
His voice is still a bit raw from the tube but not as bad as he thought it would be. There was always rasping and terrible sounds following breathing tubes being removed in cinema. Actors, man. Always putting on a show.
