You grabbed your bags from the overhead bin and shifted your weight nervously as the passengers started exiting the plane. You weren't a nervous flyer, but the prospect of meeting your boyfriend's family once the flight was over was making you anxious.

Even though you and Matt had been dating for almost a year, your schedules never aligned so that you were at the same games as his family members. You often went to weeknight hockey games because of your busy weekends, whereas his family was almost always on the opposite schedule.

Now, he had invited you to his family house in Calgary for a week to meet everyone and spend time with you. This was a big step.

You made your way to the gate where you quickly spotted Matt. He had a beanie on with a sweatshirt and sweatpants, inadvertently matching your airplane attire. You waved to him and he waved back, and before you knew it, you were wrapped up in his arms.

"Hey you," you said. You breathed in his clean scent.

"Hey, Y/N. Missed you babe," his words practically made you melt. "It's been lonely without you."

You were already lost in your thoughts about the upcoming days that you missed Matt gazing down at you, waiting for you to look up so that he could give you a kiss. You pushed away from him without realizing, already focused on getting home and meeting everyone. Disappointed, Matt took your carry on bag from you and you both started walking.

"Easy flight getting up here?" He asked. You nodded and kept walking swiftly to the exit.

"Yeah, it was good. I got the aisle seat, which is good, because you know I hate looking out the window and knowing we're up that high. And we didn't have any delays, so we're right on time. Oh, and I freshened up in the bathroom before I came out to you, so your family doesn't think I, like, smell bad or something because that would literally be the worst. And we-,"

"Babe, take a breath. You don't need to be worried," Matt reminded you.

"Well I am worried, Matt. This is your family! And they probably already have opinions of me and have seen my social media and I just don't want them to think that I'm lame or that I'm-"

"I love you, but can you just shut up and kiss me already?" You stopped in your tracks, not even caring that you were blocking people behind you.

"Huh?"

Matt chuckled, clutching at his chest. "I haven't seen you in weeks and you haven't even kissed me yet. I'm hurt."

You rolled your eyes but stood on your tiptoes to reach up and give him a kiss. "Well excuse me for being nervous, are you feeling better now?"

"Much better, and besides, my sisters already love you. It's gonna be a party all weekend, trust me."

"Hey, how are you feeling?" You were trying to be as quiet as possible as you joined Jamie in his bedroom. It was only the second day after his surgery to remove his sports hernia, so you were trying your best to be there for him whenever you didn't have work.

You knew Jamie was going to be staying in Philly for most of the summer and while he rehabbed his injury. You couldn't imagine staying somewhere so far away from family, but you knew that he had good teammates and trusted you as well.

"Better than yesterday," Jamie said quietly. You hummed in response and brought him some water to take his medicine with. "Thanks for coming over." Jamie gave you a small smile which you couldn't help but reciprocate.

"Well, you're welcome for coming over showered and with food," you teased. It had been a joke that one time, when you were sick, Jamie came over still sweaty from a hockey game and forgot to bring you the one food item you had asked for. You always made Jamie laugh when you brought it up, but today he only chuckled and groaned a little when his laugh hurt. "Shit, sorry."

"It's fine," Jamie reassured you. "It'll be like that for a while."

You frowned. After hearing how Jamie had been injured for most of his career in Anaheim, you felt really bad about him having to get yet another surgery. You hoped this would be the last one for a long time.

"C'mere, the bed is cold without you," Jamie said. He extended his hand in your direction.

"We can't cuddle, J. I don't want to hurt you," you responded nervously. You sat on the edge of the mattress but didn't dare to go any further.

"Just hold my hand?" You gently climbed in bed, trying to ignore how weak he sounded and how sad his eyes looked. You snuggled under the covers, to which Jamie smiled, and reached out for his hand. He gave yours a tight squeeze before he closed his eyes.

"Couldn't do this without you, Y/N. Love you."

You danced through the crowd, heading straight towards the bar for another drink. The music was pumping and you felt lighter than ever.

"Y/N, girl stop running away!" Your friend, Leah, called.

"Then hurry up! I want 'nother drink," you slurred. You giggled at the situation and Leah's exasperated face.

"Nuh uh, you do not need another drink. C'mon, Jamie is gonna be here soon to pick you up, babe."

"Jamie's coming?" You said hopefully. Even though it was girls' night, you missed your boyfriend. Leah nodded and you allowed her to take your hand and pull you back towards your table, and eventually the door of the bar.

"Is it late?" You mumbled. You were starting to get a little sleepy now that the fun was coming to an end.

"It's almost three in the morning," Leah chuckled. "Oh perfect, here comes Jamie." Your boyfriend pulled up in his car and Leah quickly guided you over to his car.

"Hey baby, fun night?" Jamie asked. He helped you get situated in your seat and said goodbye to Leah. "You guys stayed out pretty late."

"Mhm, I'm gonna be in bad shape in the morning, Jamie."

Jamie just laughed. He knew you always had terrible hangovers after a big night out. He navigated the quiet roads to get both of you home and before you knew it, he was walking you through your nighttime routine. He kept trying to talk to you to keep you awake but you weren't having any of it.

"Just shut up and kiss me already," you grumbled out. Jamie had just put your toothbrush away and he stopped moving to look up at you and laugh.

"Okay bossy," he teased but quickly fulfilled your request. You were one happy, drunk girlfriend.

You shifted your weight as you waited for Timo to walk out of the locker room doors since the hockey game had concluded quite a while ago. You picked at the skin around your red nails-a color you had picked out specifically for the night. Even though you had lived in New Jersey for a while, this was your first Devils game.

You and Timo had gone on a handful of dates up to this point, weaving in dates between his hockey schedule, and after a three months, he had finally asked you to come to a game. You may have spent the whole day getting ready and bought a whole new outfit, but that was just protocol for the game, obviously.

Now, you waited until you could take go back to Timo's apartment and cuddle him until you fell asleep in his arms. His voice drew you out of your thoughts as he approached you.

"Hi love, sorry I took so long," he said. He gave you a quick hug before picking up his bag and taking your hand in his. "Ready to get out of here? Back to mine?" You nodded quickly.

"The game was so much fun, T. The crowd was insane!"

He talked excitedly about the highlights of the game and you chimed in here and there, talking about what you saw and the crowd around you. He led you out of the arena and out to his car, quickly stowing your bags.

He came back around to open your passenger door. "You're such a gentleman, Timo. Thank you."

He furrowed his brows a little, thinking. "It's what a guy is supposed to do, no?" You shrugged. No guy had ever treated you like Timo, and you had only been dating for a few weeks.

"I've been with some bad apples, so I just like to say thank you."

"Bad apples?" Timo cocked his head to the side, confused at your metaphor.

"It means some guys who were jerks. I haven't been with a nice guy in a long time," you sighed. You felt suddenly insecure at your words knowing that Timo was a professional athlete who could have anyone he wanted. He didn't need to deal with your baggage.

"Well, I'm glad to be the good boy then," he chuckled. He took your hand and helped you into the car before going to his side. Leaning across the console, he pulled you closer. "Can I kiss you?" Your breath hitched. This would be your first kiss with Timo and you were more than ready. You nodded and leaned closer, feeling the sparks fly. Best night ever.

The weekend had been so much fun already. It was a celebration of love and you were definitely feeling like you and Quinn were closer to a future together. You would be celebrating four years together in the fall and you hoped that an engagement was near.

You and Quinn were the third pair walking down the aisle. The girls were all wearing light green dresses and the boys all had on navy blue suits with light green pocket squares. Quinn looked incredibly handsome and he had let you know that you had looked great all weekend, too.

The couples started walking down the aisle since the bride had arrived, so you fixed your flowers and got ready to join arms with Quinn.

"Wow, you look beautiful," Quinn said as he joined you.

"I hope this is us someday," you smiled. "They're so in love, it's awesome to watch."

“And the Philadelphia Flyers have defeated the Los Angeles Kings in overtime, 2-1!” The announcer declared. You were happy as you watched your boyfriend Jamie skate off the ice. He hadn’t scored, but he had played a really great game and it made you smile. The screen shifted to commercials after the interviews and closing and you reached to check your phone.

1:28 AM.

You sighed. Even though you didn’t have to wake up for work in the morning, since it was the weekend, you always stressed about your sleep schedule being off whenever Jamie was on a roadie. Especially a west coast trip.

You scrolled on social media for another hour on your phone before you settled on watching an episode of Friends on your laptop. You hoped that it would lull you to sleep.

Ten minutes later, a notification came across your phone screen.

From: Jamie Drysdale

Made it back to hotel, call you in five :)

You heart fluttered. You missed Jamie terribly whenever he was gone and you had become a little dependent on hearing his voice before you fell asleep.

You slid your finger across the green answer button and your laptop lit up with Jamie's face. He looked exhausted, but he still smiled at you, his hair hanging by his face.

"Hey baby, good game! You played great," you praised.

"Yeah, things are finally looking up for us." The Flyers had been having a rough few weeks, only managing to win a handful of games at home. Jamie had told you that morale had been low but his team was trying their best, and you were just happy to see them get a win.

You and Jamie chatted a bit before you could see he was getting sleepy, his eyes becoming droopy as he laid in the hotel bed.

"Why don't you get some rest? I'm sure you're exhausted after the game," you said quietly. While you didn't want to hang up with Jamie, you knew that he needed rest.

"And it's almost three in the morning there for you, you're gonna get some rest also, right?" You were quick to nod but Jamie gave you an unbelieving look. "You know you don't always need to watch the late games, and besides, you need sleep."

"You know I sleep better when you're next to me," you sighed. You snuggled deeper into your pillows and gave Jamie your best puppy eyes. "Come home soon?"

But life was funny like that sometimes.

With a little extra perfume and some lip gloss, you were pleased with your appearance. You and Jamie were headed to dinner and drinks with his teammates at their favorite restaurant in town. You would be meeting all of the other wives and girlfriends for the first time, so you wanted to make a good first impression.

A quick knock sounded in the air and you rushed to your front door.

"Hi babe!" You pulled the door open to reveal Jamie waiting for you. "I was just about to text you that I was ready. Do I look alright?" Jamie could sense your slightly nervous energy.

"You look incredible, Y/N. Is that top new?" You chuckled a little at his comment. "Yeah, got it from the mall yesterday." You swore you saw Jamie's pupils dilate as he took in the amount of skin you were showing with your tank top, a lacy black halter that showed off your boobs quite well.

You had decided to wear the tank and paired it with a straight cut pair of jeans and kitten heels. You wanted to be ready for a fun night and not look too serious, and it seemed that you had attracted a certain boy.

"See something you like?" You teased, giving him a quick peck on the lips. He hummed against your lips, pulling you in closer to gaze at you.

"Always. You know you drive me crazy, Y/N." Jamie looked like a little lovebird, you could practically picture the hearts floating around his head.

"Hey, we have to leave for the ceremony in twenty minutes," a voice called out to you. You clasped your earrings and walked out of the spacious bathroom to see Jamie sitting on the bed.

He had a gray suit on, prepped and ready to leave soon for his cousin's wedding that he had invited you to. His whole family had rented a house near the venue to stay at leading up to the big day.

"Can you get my zipper?" Your long, pale yellow dress was one of Jamie's favorites and complemented his suit.

"Yeah, turn around," he mumbled. You stood in front of him and felt his hands delicately rest on your waist to pull the zipper up. "You look beautiful, babe."

"You don't look too bad yourself," you teased. "I just have to put my shoes on and then we can head downstairs." Your shoes were cream high heels that tied around your ankles. While they may not be the easiest to put on, you loved how they looked with your dress.

Before you knew it, Jamie had knelt down to fix your shoes for you.

"Aw thanks babe," you smiled. You ran your hand through Jamie's hair in appreciation for him being so sweet. He finished tying your heel, but his acts of kindness didn't stop there. His hand ran up your leg, making goosebumps appear, and you knew what his intentions were.

"We have to go soon," you warned. "We can't be the last ones downstairs, J."

"Not even a quickie?" Jamie said with a grin on his face.

"Absolutely not! My hair would get all messed up."

"Then I'll stay right here," Jamie said softly. He was still on his knees, inching closer to where you sat on the edge of the bed to get closer to your core. His hands gently spread your legs open to find that you were needing his touch, even if you knew you should be leaving. You let out a quiet moan you had been holding in, unable to resist him for much longer.

"Jamie, your parents are downstairs!"

"Then I guess we'd better be quiet."

With your makeup products spread out in front of you, you reached for your primer to start your routine.

"Are you almost done?" A voice said from the bed behind you. Luke was stretched out on the mattress, staring at you through your reflection.

"I haven't even started, Luke," you said, and a groan erupted from your boyfriend.

"You don't even need any makeup, Y/N. You always look good and it's literally just my parents and idiot brothers." You just kept your focus on your makeup, ignoring your boyfriend. You didn't even notice that he had started hovering his hands over your head, giving you bunny ears from afar.

You rolled your eyes, but Luke's actions didn't stop. He continued to make funny faces, trying to pull your attention away from your blush.

"Stop distracting me or else I'm gonna look like a clown at dinner," you giggled.

"Hmm, maybe that was the plan." Luke pushed himself up on his arms and made a kissy face in the mirror behind your figure. You puckered your lips in return, matching his gesture with one of your own.

"Can we skip dinner and just stay here instead?" Luke asked. He was looking at you with puppy dog eyes as he clutched a pillow.

"And what would we do if we stayed here, hmm?"

"Well," Luke started. "We could make out, cuddle, kiss, just all of the necessary things." You laughed in response. You felt warm inside and you knew that it wasn't just from the sunlight streaming in from his bedroom window.

"Let's get through dinner and then I think that request can be arranged."
