Washing their back/hair in the shower.
oooo i could see luke loving his girlfriend washing his hair and she always does he curl routine for him
Toast my love 🥹 Thank you for requesting
-
The buzzer blared through the speakers of the TV, and you winced. The devils lost 5-4 in a shootout. Luke looked absolutely exhausted in his post game interview. It ticked you off a little that they made him do them so often. It's like they forgot he was a rookie sometimes.
Lukey The Loml: Be at urs in 20
You: Ok, drive safe love. See you in 20 ❤️
You paced around your apartment anxiously while you waited. You heard his footsteps in the hall, and before he even had a chance to stick his key in the lock, you were flinging the door open and holding your arms out to him.
Luke stepped over the threshold of the door, dropped his bag, and collapsed into your arms with a sigh. The height difference has him hunching over awkwardly for him to bury his face against your neck. His arms lock around your waist, and he sighs, melting further into the warmth of your body.
You card your fingers through his curls, fingers catching on all the knots from wearing his helmet for so long. You tug him further into your apartment, kicking the door shut as you go. He doesn't protest when you lead him to the bathroom and detangle him from your embrace to turn on the shower.
"You played so well, my darling boy," you say softly, helping him strip.
He gives you a tired smile, "Thanks, baby."
You make quick work of your own clothing and pull him into the shower. He groans, rolling his shoukders as the hot water hits his back. "Fuck I'm tired," he mutters attempting to run a hand through his hair. His fingers catch on the tangles, and he grunts frustratedly, yanking at his hair.
"Sit down, darling, I got you," you say, tugging his hand from his hair gently, and guiding him to sit on the shower seat, he does so without complaint, closing his eyes and ducking his head under the hot stream of water. He rests his hands on your hips, rubbing gentle circles with the pads of his thumbs.
You pop open the shampoo bottle, squirting some in your palms and lathering it up. The scent of coconut and vanilla melds with the steam, and your fingers delve into his curls once again, massaging at his scalp expertly. He melts against you with a happy sigh, his forehead resting against your torso.
Luke will never get tired of having you wash his hair, and honestly, you'll never get tired of washing it for him. Your fingers move in gentle cirlcles from the top of his head to his temples to the back of his neck. You detach the shower head and rinse the shampoo out of his hair before reaching for the conditioner.
You spread it all over your palms and drag your hands through the ends of his hair, working out all the knots with practiced ease. Luke had never been a post game ritual guy. As long as he had a shower, snack, and got to sleep, he was good. Until you came along, with your whirlwind of hair products and showed him the wonders of having his hair washed by another person.
Now, whenever he had the opportunity, he pulled you into the shower with him and made you wash and style his hair. You scrub him down gently and rinse out the conditioner. If he notices the floral scent of the body wash, rather than whatever the fuck Night panther smells like, he doesn't comment. Although you know he likes your bodywash better.
You hand Luke a towel and wrap one around yourself before padding to the bedroom and grabbing a change of clothes for the pair of you. Sweats and a hoodie for Luke, and one of his sweat shirts and shorts for yourself.
Luke takes the change of clothes from you and plants a kiss on your temples, "Thank you, baby."
As soon as the two of you are clothed, Luke is hoisting you onto the bathroom counter and standing between your legs patiently, his hands rest on your thighs, tracing shapes absent-mindedly. You lock your legs around his hips, ensuring he's as close as possible while you run product through his still wet hair.
Leave in conditioner, scrunch, then gel and scrunch again.
You twirl a couple of wonky looking curls around your finger to make them coil neatly. You twist around to wash the product off your hands and then pull him in for a sweet kiss. Luke kisses you back softly, cupping your face with so much care that it makes your heart gooey in your chest.
You pull away, panting softly as you rest your forehead against his. "Come on, i'll make you a snack and we'll cuddle on the couch and watch a movie. Ok?"
Luke can't resist pressing another kiss to your lips, hoping he can pour all the love he feels into it. "Thanks for making me feel better."
"It's nothing darling, that's what I'm here for," you shrug.
"I love you so much," he murmurs, pressing fluttering kisses to your cheeks, "more than I have words for,"
Your cheeks warm, and you smile shyly.
"I love you too, my darling, with my whole heart."

Are they really just a friend with Luke plssss
“Are They Just a Friend?”
Warnings: use of y/n,
꧁꧂
Luke had just played an intense and phenomenal game. He had a natural hat trick along with two assists. You were waiting for him down by the locker room doors. The energy down there was electrifying. Other friends, family, and significant others were standing around waiting for the players to emerge.
“(Y/N)!” Your head whipped to the left to follow the sound of Jack’s voice. He didn’t play tonight, still recovering from his surgery. “Luke told us to go ahead and head to the bar. He has a line of media waiting to interview him.” You follow Jack to the private parking garage, where you were allowed to park as you drove Jack to the arena today. “How long do you think he’ll be? You know how I feel about bars and not having Luke…” You question his older brother but let your voice fade away afraid he may get offended or think you don’t trust him.
It’s not that you don’t trust Jack to take care of you or keep you safe. It’s that Luke is your best friend. Your safe place. Your person. And in the unfortunate case for you, the person who unbeknownst to him has had possession of your heart since high school.
You managed to catch Jack rolling his eyes after hearing you. He let out an exaggerated sigh after getting in the car. “(Y/N) I shouldn’t have to ask this, but are you two really just friends?” It feels like all the air has been sucked out of your lungs. It feels like your body forgets how to move. You don’t know why but hearing those last two words strike hard. “Yeah, just friends” , you defeatedly admitted, you start the car and start to head to the bar. Jack remains quiet, but begins plotting a plan.
A plan to help the girl who’s always been like his little sister get his actual little brother to open his eyes and see the good thing right in front of him.
꧁꧂
You and Jack had been at the bar an hour and a half already with no sign of Luke. Jack had bought you lemon drop after lemon drop. You were feeling the alcohol streaming through your blood. “Jackey, can I tell you something?” You asked him, all anxiety long forgotten. “Always, sunshine.” He had his glass of water in his hand as he couldn't consume alcohol while still taking medication. “You asked me if Moose and I were just friends. I wish we weren’t. I loooooooove him” You started giggling uncontrollably leaning over to lay on Jack’s good shoulder.
“You looooove who?” Luke asked. As he suddenly appeared and was sitting down on the other side of the table. Jack let out a laugh. “Oh my god Jack! Look, it's my moose!” You scooted all the way across the booth to Luke and started to snuggle up into his side. “Well? Who did you just tell Jack that you love (y/n/n)?” Luke questioned again. You looked up at him from where you were cuddled up into his side. Craning your neck to see all of his face.
“If I tell you, you can’t stop being my best friend okay?” You took a deep breath waiting for confirmation. Your drunken mind starting to sober up as adrenaline was rushing through you. Taking a Quick Look up again at Luke you see him staring at his brother then quickly looking back down at you. His eyes tell a thousand stories that you can’t read. “I told jackey over there that I love you moose.” You emphasized the ‘you’ by tapping him on the nose. A giggle broke out of you again as it did before after admitting your feelings.
Only a few seconds pass before Luke shifts and is grabbing your face moving it to meet his. “Thank fuck.” He finishes pulling your face to his to connect your mouth to his. He doesn’t care that it’s probably the sloppiest kiss either of you have ever experienced. “Lukey.” You whisper afterwards. The kiss sobering you up quite a bit. “You just.” “(Y/N) if you tell me something about being best friends, I will show you just how much we are not best friends and haven’t been in a long damn time.” You leaned in next to his ear so he could hear. “Don’t threaten such fun things lukey.” Grinning as you leaned back so he could see your face. “Okay, well Jack we’re leaving. Let’s go.” Luke threw you over his shoulder, insisting that by the end of the night “best friend” would not be a term between the two of you.

Going from New York to Michigan was not a long flight by any means. But going from Scotland to New York to Michigan in less than 70 hours was quite the heat, even for Y/n. It was around 9:00 pm in Michigan by the time Y/n arrived. She could have stayed in New York for the night, but when the other option was seeing Luke, she will always choose that option.
She was walking out of the airport now, looking around for the car Luke said he would be in. She spotted the type of car twice already, being let down both times when neither contained her boy. Finally she spots the head of curls, glad he clearly hasn’t seen her yet as she drags her suitcase behind herself. Clearly hearing the loud sound of the wheels on concrete Luke’s eyes shoot to where the sound is coming from to see what crazy manic is running in a parking lot, only for him to find out it’s his crazy maniac.
When she’s close enough Y/n drops the bag and jumps into the boy’s arms, her sweatpant clad legs wrapping around the tall boy’s hips, his hands dart to the back of her thighs in order to make sure she doesn’t slip off him. Tugging her up to wrap her legs around his torso now and her face buried in his neck. Leaving soft kisses and taking in the distant scent of his cologne.
Mumbled against his neck, her lips tickling the boy, Luke can just barely make out the words; though he knew what they were given he felt the same, “I missed you.” “I missed you too, and I love you. So much.” He replies, talking into her hair. “I love you too.”
After a few minutes, and a car honking, the couple finally broke away from the hug. Luke lifted her suitcase into the back, as well as opened her door like the gentlemen he was. They talked back and forth and catching up with one another, what they hadn’t already said over their many calls, texts, and facetimes.
“I’m excited to meet your family. Do you think they’ll like me? I mean I know you’ve said that they know of me and like me, but that’s as who I am to the public. Have you told them anything about me me?”
“I’ve only told them that you’re my girlfriend, though they didn’t believe me which I don’t blame them for because sometimes I don’t believe it. And the last day or so they’ve asked constant questions.” “Like what?” “Like if I love you” he says in a teasing voice, as if he just wants to mention he loves her any chance he gets, “Did you tell them you do?” “Yes.”
-
Luke opened the front door, allowing Y/n to go inside first while he drags her suitcase behind them with one hand and leading her in with his other hand on the small of the back. Kicking off his shoes he calls out for his family until he hears laughter coming from the backyard. Showing the girl to his room, he let her put her stuff away and into more comfortable clothes, before meeting his family.
Luke walked into the backyard first, pulling Y/n by their joined hands behind him. It was Dylan who noticed the couple first, elbowing Ethan and Rutger who got to the house last night.
“Oh- fuck!” Ethan’s words got the attention of the rest of the group, heads turning to face the back door the two were walking away from now.
“Hi! I’m Y/n.” The girl awkwardly waved, Ellen could tell the girl was nervous so she jumped up to greet her, smiling when she saw her son’s hand in the girl’s. “Hi, Y/n, I’m Ellen. Luke’s mom.” “Oh, of course. He’s told me so much about you!” The older woman brought her into a quick hug, shocking the girl even after Luke warned her. “And this is my husband, Jim.” Said man shakes the girl’s hand from his seat. “And Jack and Quinn.” She said as she pointed to the respective boys, “Mom-” “Okay, Lukey! I was just trying to make her comfortable.” The little interaction between Luke and his mom brought a smile to Y/n’s face, finally getting to see her boy in his natural habitat.
-
The night couldn’t have gone better, in everyone’s eyes, though Luke could have gone without a few of the embarrassing stories his brothers and friends told. Quinn noticed, when Jack was telling a story of young Luke having a massive crush on his now girlfriend's many on screen characters, his little brother’s hand searching for the girl’s playing with her fingers and her rings. It was those little moments that made him realise the seriousness of the relationship that he hadn’t heard of until three days ago.
Long gone were the days Luke would tell his brothers every little thing, needing advice on every decision he made. He was grown, got into a serious relationship without his brother’s input, with a girl perfect for him. Who had been begging to meet him and Jack as they heard on the facetime. And when the girl got up to help Ellen in the kitchen, Luke sweezed Y/n’s hand and watched as she walked up the backstairs talking to their mom, as if he couldn’t bear time away from her.
“I still don’t fucking belief it.” Dylan said, causing Luke to roll his eyes while he mutters something about Dylan under his breath that causes Rutger to laugh.
Quinn, deciding to break it up before it starts, says from across the fire, “I like her. She’s good for you, Lukey.” “Yeah. And she’s not what I thought she would be like.. In a good way.” Jack piggybacks on Quinn’s thought. Light red invades Luke’s cheeks hearing his brother’s approval of the girl he loves and cares for so much, even more so when Jim adds, “She fits right in with us. Glad to welcome her to the family.”
-
“I’ve never seen Luke like that before.” The woman’s words bring a smirk to Y/n’s face, hearing his mom say it solidified Luke’s words of ‘never being this in love before’, “I mean, he’s never brought a girl here-” “I didn’t know that.” “Oh yeah. Never to the lake house, he’s always said Lake house was family and friend’s time.” Her smirk turns into a full on grin at that.
“That’s how I know he really loves you.”
-
Y/n woke up to the subtle bumps of Luke’s nose against her neck as he adjusted his position to curl further into his girl. The feeling of strong arms were warm around her torso, fingers tracing different shapes onto her skin, after a moment she realised he was writing his name. Turning to her other side to now be facing Luke, the girl brings her own hands to trace up and down the boy’s bare chest.
“Good morning.” “G'morning, darling.” Luke replies in his deep and raspy morning voice while his body shivers slightly at the feeling of the girl’s light touch.
After laying together as they woke up, the couple finally started getting ready for the day, the boy grabbed her hand as they made their way downstairs. Reaching the bottom they saw most of the boys in the kitchen eating the pancakes Ellen made this morning before she and Jim left for the day.
“Morning, love birds!” Rutger got a smack upside the head from Luke for that one.
As the couple got their food and sat at the table the other boys were going over the plans for today. Something Y/n didn’t think they really had to ‘go over’ as they were just spending all day on the lake.
-
The idea of spending all day on a boat with her boyfriend’s friends and family she's just met, the possible awkwardness that there was no way of escaping was scary. But the day was going great, Y/n was only nervous for the first few minutes plucking at her nails Luke quickly noticed, grabbing her hand so she wouldn’t be able to any longer. Something that didn’t go unnoticed by his older brother’s.
Y/n was in a deep conversation with Trevor and Cole about what it was like to film the All Too Well short film, Luke, having heard all about it before, was zoned out twisting the girl’s hair around his finger as he listened to her voice. Every once in a while he would add to whatever his friends on the other side of him were talking about, but most of his attention went to the girl.
It was Jack this time that threw the pop can tab off his beer at his older brother who was driving the boat, getting his attention and directing his eyes to their little brother’s actions. Seeing their little Lukey staring at the girl he had a crush on since he started liking girl’s with the biggest heart eyes as she talks to his friends, with so much love in his eyes they knew she was the one.
There was no way, no matter what they went through, if there were hard times and rough fights, they would make it through it. You didn’t have the love they had for each other for just anyone, this was special.
Luke was grown. He had effortlessly found his one at age twenty, really fourteen if you think about it, and his brother’s couldn’t be more happy for him.

“i think we should breakup, luke.”
as you stood in front of luke, you couldn’t meet his eyes. the whole house seemed to be silent. luke had told you last week that he would be leaving michigan to go play in the nhl and you had finally made your decision on your relationship.
“why now?”
you took a deep breath. your whole body trembled as you contemplated what to say next. even though you didn’t want to break up with luke, your insecurities had gotten the better of you.
“because you’re leaving, luke.”
luke started to pace and he let out a heavy sigh. you both knew the implications of luke’s choice of career and you didn’t hold it against him, but you couldn’t handle the idea of long distance.
“we’ll do long distance, y/n. we can set up facetimes and, uh, we can meet up when i play in detroit. i’ll fly you out to games! we can-”
“luke, we can’t. you’ll be in new jersey and you’ll be busy and i’m trying to decide where i’ll end up in a few years after graduation.”
you looked up at him with tears pooling in your eyes. luke’s face wasn’t much happier, twisted in confusion. his hands went to pull at the curls in his hair and you wished that your arms wouldn’t stay glued by your side. you wished you could offer him comfort.
“you’re making up excuses, y/n.”
“luke, i’m trying to be realistic.”
“life isn’t easy, y/n, we should give it a chance.”
“you’re going to play in the nhl, luke. you won’t have time for me.”
“y/n, i will make time for you! i love you!”
“you won’t when you realize you can have anyone you want, luke! you won’t want me anymore!”
the next thing you knew, luke was standing right in front of you, taking your face in his hands. he pressed a hard, yet passionate kiss to your lips. you immediately kissed him back, melting into his touch. you hated how easily he made you crack, but he just hated when you talked bad about yourself. you were the first to pull away, slightly breathless.
“i want you, y/n. i mean that.”
something short and sweet because i was in a writing mood😋 more to come soon!!

of course you were familiar with the idea of karma.
in theory, you always thought it was a great way of thinking. if you put good into the world, you'd get something back.
so you always tried your hardest to make other people happy, give them the benefit of the doubt, not only in hopes that you'd be rewarded, but also because you truly wanted the best for others.
but over time, you lost faith in the idea, as it seemed that no matter how well you treated other people, how much good you put out into the world, nothing ever came back to you, at least not for long.
the night had started out great, you'd already downed a few drinks, and you and your friends were having the time of your lives dancing to "today's top hits."
but of course with your luck, something had to go wrong.
some girl who'd obviously had more drinks than she could handle, decided it would be a good idea to walk through the dance floor with multiple full glasses in hand. it goes without saying that she ended up spilling the contents of her cups, straight down your dress, the cold liquid freezing against your hot skin.
only when you went to wash the stain out did you remember that you were wearing a tight white dress, which, in your current situation, was practically see through.
logic told you it would've been a good idea for you to leave at that point, but instead, you opted that you didn't want to ruin your friend's nights, so you decided to stay for just a bit longer.
eventually, your dress dried, and the stain was just barely visible, for which you were extremely grateful.
spotting the nearly empty glasses in all of your friends' hands, you decided to be nice and go grab another round of drinks. this was your second mistake.
the intoxicated people dancing all around you made you uncomfortable, and by the time you had told the bartender what you wanted, you were jittery and uneasy. within seconds, a man who had to be at least ten years older than you took a seat on the stool closest to you, despite the fact that nearly all of the others were vacant.
you shot him a polite smile before opening up your phone and scrolling through instagram, but you were all too aware of the fact that his gaze was burning a hole through the side of your head.
again, logic pleaded with you to just leave right then and there, you knew your friends would understand, but being the people-pleaser you were, you still persisted on staying and waiting for your drinks.
"you here all alone, eh?" his words had your heart beating hard in your chest.
damn you, universe, you thought. why couldn't you just let me have one good night?
"no, i'm here with my friends," you replied nervously before adding quickly, "and my boyfriend." it was obvious you were lying, but you were grasping for straws just to get him to stop talking to you.
"it's alright, no need to lie to me." though his words themselves weren't especially threatening, the look on his face and the way he spoke made you on edge. he continued to stare at you, awaiting a response. he placed a hand on your thigh.
you'd had enough, so you slipped off your chair and began to walk away, when you felt a hand on your wrist.
"what's wrong, baby? i didn't even do anything," he asked, an irritated look on his face.
you tried again to take your hand out of his clutches, but to no avail. you told him to let go, to stop, but he didn't care, simply tightening his grasp on your arm and insisting that you stay and "wait for your drinks."
praying to whatever higher being that the bartender would come back soon and see the unfortunate situation you were in, you looked around desperately, only to find that no one was paying attention to what was going on.
what did i do to you to deserve this? you bargained with the universe, who left your question seemingly unanswered, silence left in its wake.
a second later, you jolted at the feeling of large hands grabbing onto your shoulders from behind you, and felt someone's head rest atop yours. you turned around in fear, and found yourself eyeing a boy who had to be around your age with curly hair and green eyes, peering right back down at you.
you expected him to leave once he saw your face and realized he didn't know who you were, but instead he continued to look at you, smiling sincerely.  the man from before immediately dropped your wrist.
"hey angel," the boy beamed down at you.
"hi…babe?" you responded hesitantly, leaning into him once you realized this was no mistake, the curly haired boy was helping you out.
his arms found their way around your shoulders, hugging you from behind.
"is this guy bothering you or something?" he asked, picking up your bruising wrist delicately, and turning his attention to the older guy who seemed feeble compared to your saviour.
"no, no bro, i didn't do anything. i swear, i'm sorry," the man stumbled over his words, his demanding and harsh demenaor having faded away in a heartbeat.
"y'sure you're okay then?" he asked, redirecting his attention to you. you nodded in response, giving him a small, reassuring smile.
"alright, i'll walk you back to the table, then," he nodded to himself before turning back to the man one last time, "and stop hitting on girls half your age, man. it's fucked up."
he led you away, hands intertwined, as the man scrambled out of his seat and away to another part of the bar. neither of you said anything for a few seconds until you interrupted the silence.
"thank you so much. i don't know how to repay you, that guy was really…" you trailed off, a shiver passing through your body just at the thought of his disgusting hands on your wrist.
he nodded in agreement. "of course, i couldn't just leave you there like that."
"can i get you something to drink, a beer, anything, to thank you," you pleaded, looking up at him as the two of you stopped walking, opting to stand near the bar in an area that wasn't too crowded. you saw the hesitant look on your face and continued your thought, "oh, unless you have a girlfriend or something, sorry, god, i should've asked before i said anything."
the boy grinned at your flushed face, "well, first off, my name's luke, and no, i don't have a girlfriend."
"oh ok, that's good," you said before realizing what you had said, "i meant to say that's good to know, not that it's good that you don't have a girlfriend. fuck, i didn't-"
"it's okay, i got what you meant," he chuckled. you put your face in your hands out of embarrassment, your face now bright red. once you had calmed down, you introduced yourself to luke, and offered once again to buy him something to drink.
luke knew he should be keeping this to himself, but you seemed like you wouldn't judge him or at the very least he felt like you wouldn't tell anyone else, so the next words that came out of his mouth were, "i'm only twenty. i can't drink. the bouncer knew my brother and he let me in, but my brother doesn't want me drinking."
now it was his turn to be embarrassed, as he suddenly felt out of place, as though you were silently making fun of him, even though he knew you weren't.
"oh, that's fine! i only just recently turned twenty-one anyway, so i get it," you shrugged, obviously trying to comfort him since his neck and the tips of his ears were pink.
all of a sudden, a guy with fluffy brown hair and blue eyes who was a few inches shorter than luke and seemed a bit tipsy came up to the two of you and slung an arm around luke's shoulders. the unfamiliar boy turned to you, having just noticed you were there, and a grin spread across his face.
"hey lukey boy, who's this, huh? you got yourself a girlfriend?" the boy chirped at the curly haired boy who rolled his eyes at his antics.
"angel, this is jack, my older brother. in case you couldn't tell, he's a little bit drunk," luke deadpanned, peeling his brother's arm off of his shoulders.
smiling at jack, you told him your name and explained how you and luke had just met a few minutes ago.
"oh, rusty's already got a nickname for you," he beamed, turning to look at his younger brother, who yet again rolled his eyes but the smile on his face showed that he wasn't really all that annoyed.
"anyway, lukey, d'you wanna come introduce your new girl to the team?" jack questioned, already beginning to walk back in the direction he came.
"she's not my girl, rowdy."
"and with that attitude she never will be!"
you let out a laugh and luke turned to you, asking if you wanted to go meet his team. you nodded in agreement, and sent a text to your friends apologizing that you didn't get the drinks yet and that you met a nice guy but you'd be back sometime soon, and if anything, that you could uber home.
luke grabbed your hand, intertwining it with his, and began to pull you in the direction that his brother had gone. before you reached your destinanton, he explained that he and his brother played hockey and he was at the bar with some of his teammates and friends.
quickly, you approached a circular booth filled with five guys and a girl, all of whom began to shout things, most of them teasing luke about "finally bagging a girl."
you slid into the booth, and you could swear you felt a spark when luke sat down next to you, your thighs touching.
from across the table, jack recited the names of everyone at the table: jesper, nico, dawson, and john, and followed up by introducing you to the table.
the girl who you had ended up sitting next to interrupted jack before he could continue his drunken rambling.
"well i, for one, am glad that there's gonna be another girl around here. and rusty seemed lonely anyway." for a second, you felt jealousy flicker in your chest, thinking she was a friend of luke's, before she continued her thought, turning so that she could speak to you directly.
"i'm emily, by the way, i'm jack's girlfriend, it's nice to meet you."
"nice to meet you too," you grinned, all feelings of jealousy dissipating. you got to know her for a bit as luke started talking with dawson.
eventually, you and luke fell back into conversation together, and your personalities seemed to just click. everytime you said something, he would have a quick remark to add, and whenever he spoke, you found yourself hanging onto every last word he said, sincerely interested in what he was talking about.
luke wasn't sure why, but for some reason, whether it was just that your presence was so comforting, or that he was in desperate need for some new friends in jersey, but he felt an overwhelming desire to spill all of his secrets to you.
you learned that he played for the new jersey devils in the nhl, and although hockey had never really been something you were interested, you made a mental note to look up when the next game was so that you could try to catch some of it on tv.
as odd as it may have sounded, it made luke happy that you didn't know who he was before he introduced himself. it assured him that you had a genuine interest in him, and didn't care that he played in the nhl, or that he and his brothers were some of the most famous hockey players of his generation.
by the end of the night, it felt like the two of you had known each other for ages, the disturbing man from earlier long forgotten.
as the two of you exchanged numbers, you were glad you didn't go home earlier, that you had gone against logic's advice.
you bid the rest of the team goodbye, not being able to escape the comments from jack, announcing how cute he thought the two of you looked together.
you and luke were forced to part, both of you sporting matching smiles on your faces, and promised to text each other and meet up sometime the following week.
you found yourself unable to wipe the grin off of your face as you walked back to where your friends were still sitting, who all giggled at the sight of you all love-drunk and unusually cheerful. while you recounted your story about how you met luke, all your friends could see that you were practically glowing and seemed happier than ever.
they all took a quick liking to the boy who had made you this happy, even without meeting him.
maybe the universe wasn't plotting against you. maybe everything that had happened was planned out, setting the scene for you to be able to meet the wonderful, bright-eyed, curly haired boy that you had. you just hoped it lasted.

how would luke be when he’s sick
i feel like he would pretend like he’s fine but his nose would be red and stuffy, his eyes would be lidded, and he would walk slower than usual despite his long legs & giant steps
y/n would see right thru him and be like nope back to bed and he would probably whine about it and be like “but the devs need me!!” but he’d know that his gf is right and he’s not doing anyone justice if he shows up and doesn’t play his best
he definitely insists that he can take care of himself and doesn’t want her to get too close in case she catches whatever sickness he has but she already postponed everything she had scheduled for today and is pulling up the covers to rest her cold cheek on his heated bare chest. he’s still adamant on not getting too close, but once she kisses his collarbone, it’s over and he’s pulling her body to his, listening to her tell stories about college drama at umich and how she feels close to the devils team already — especially neeks, they’re like besties. she’s always gossiping with him about anyone and everyone
she’d grab medicine from the medicine cabinet in the bathroom and come back to bed with a glass of water and a wet towel to place on his forehead as if he was a sick child in the 1800s. he’d thank her, telling her that she should lie down and that he’s okay. he doesn’t even feel sick anymore!!
but he’s obviously lying.
she’d heat up the stove, making a batch of chicken noodle soup, having gotten a special recipe from ellen for whenever someone in the family is sick, and she’d come back and he’d be like “you didn’t have to do that, you know.” and she’d be like “what? it’s for me” and he’d start pouting and not taking and she’d roll her eyes bc obviously it’s for him
luke is her stubborn boy!! always has been, always will be!!
jack when he’s sick tho is like “can you make me some soup please?” and luke would be like “get your own gf and stop bothering mine.”
i love lukey pookie <3

Cold Seat | L.Hughes
Warnings: none again. Fluff asf
Pairing: Luke Hughes x fem!reader
a/n: lowkey a blurb. This is basically based in a high school setting more then anything. Specifically my high school. The whole Friday night hockey games where all the high schoolers sit at the very end of the bleachers that only take up one side of the ice. When the girls only go to hang with their friends (watch their crushes play and find them on the hockey website then add their snaps) yeah that’s how this writing piece is working. Except Luke is actually into you and not just some typical hockey boy. You aren’t official but it’s still fun for you to sit in the freezing cold for 2hrs then take a photo with him after:) Can you tell I’m speaking from personal experience?
Tonight the U18 team had their final game in which determined who won the finals. My whole high school was going. The whole town usually takes up every seat in the stands but always leaving room for the high schoolers at the end of the bleachers. Me and my friend f/n had gotten there early to grab seats, the rest of our friends not far behind us. It was just me, her and couple other students sitting down when warm up started. The most entertaining part of the game. Luke was the star player in my little home town so as soon as he stepped out everyone cheered. He didn’t pay attention to it though, he just went on with his warm up and began shooting pucks and skating in random circles.
“He’s not even the best on the team” a girl behind me says.
I choose to ignore her. The thing is Luke was actually the best in his division, he had so many offers for elsewhere but he really just wanted to stay in his home town and play with his friends.
“Please stand for the national anthem” I hear the announcer say. The announcer being Mama Hughes. Everyone stands, the boys lined up on the blue lines with their helmets off. Luke’s curly hair already sweaty from warm up. He looked down at his skates.
The game started. Luke at face off starting the game of right with a pass to one of his team mates. Nearing the end of the first period the score was still 0-0. That was until Luke made a shot and got it in. The crowd went crazy, he did a stupid bow and his teammates rushed over to him. They all hugged by the glass in front of me. He looks over his shoulder at me and gives me the cheesiest smile. I smile back. I hear the girl behind me scoff.
~
Near the end of the 3rd period we were tied with the other team at 5-5. Everyone knew if we lost this game we were just second place. There was 10 seconds left in the 3rd and everyone was nailed biting, sure over time was fine but it’s not the best. All of a sudden Luke is shooting down the ice making a break away and pulls his stick back making a wrist shot. The puck flies straight down the ice and right past the goalies glove into the net right as the buzzer goes. The arena goes wild. I look across the ice to see all the boys jumping over boards and onto the ice to congratulate the team. Me and all the other students are all screaming, I’m hugging my friends with tears in my eyes. I look down the bleachers towards the penalty boxes and the announcers boxes, I see Ellen waving me over. As soon as step in the box she gives me a big hug.
“They won!” She screams.
“I know!!!” I scream back. “Now we don’t have to deal with Luke’s cranky butt all night”
“Exactly what I thought!” She exclaims.
I look at the ice and notice all the stick, helmets, and gloves scattered across the ice as the boys continue congratulating each other. Mr. Hughes giving Luke a tight hug. Since it was Luke’s senior year the moment was bitter sweet. A bored member brings the banner out to the team and they take a big photo.
“Would Luke Hughes, number 43, please make his way to the penalty box” I hear over the intercom. I look at Ellen who’s speaking into the mic. She shoots me a smile. “There’s someone very special over here who wants to see you”
Ellen opens the gate for me to step on the ice. Luke skating full speed towards me. He picks me up and spins me around while still on the ice.
“Guess what!” He says to me.
“What?!”
“We won!” He says, again with a big cheesy smile.
“I know!” I say with a squeaky voice.
He leans down and places a kiss on my forehead.
“Hey captain!” I hear one of his coaches yell from across the ice. “I gotta get a photo with you”
“I’ll be right back” he says while letting go of my hand.
When he comes back he brings the banner with and says we need a photo, Ellen steps out to capture it. Then we get one without the banner. Before the last photo he leans into my ear and whispers… “I love you”. A smile creeps onto my face as Ellen captures another photo, totally oblivious to what Luke whispered to me.
“I love you too” I whisper back.
<3
a/n: sorry this is short and kinda bland but I thought it was cute. wish all hockey boys were like my version of Luke.

Giving them a kiss before going to work and they are still in bed.
With Luke Hughes!
Thank you for requesting 🥰
-
You were absolutely not a morning person. Luke, also, was absolutely not a morning person. Unfortunately for him, his job often required that he wake up at the ass crack of dawn. Which was astronomically harder to do when he had a pretty girl wrapped around him in the mornings. Fortunately, waking up beside you made everything ten times better.
The blaring of his alarm pulled him from his blissful sleep. He rolled over and slapped the snooze button angrily before wrapping his arms back around you and burying his face against your hair with a sigh. He drifts in and out of sleep, the fact that he should get up bleary at the front of his mind.
His alarm goes off again, and he shuts it off with a sigh. It's positively criminal that it's not even five in the morning, and Luke has to be up. He carefully detangles himself from you, making sure you don't wake up. Not that you'd wake up if the zombie apocalypse broke out, but he still puts in the effort to be careful and quiet.
He slips into the bathroom and splashes cold water on his face to wake up. He brushes his teeth and does his morning skin care (courtesy of you) before he quietly pads back into the bedroom to change. Luke pulls on a pair of sweats and a hoodie, and just just as he's about to leave, he gazes at you lovingly.
A soft smile plays at his lips, and he kneels beside the bed, brushing your hair from your face gently. His thumb smooths over the slope of your eyebrow. He loves seeing you like this. All relaxed, with no angry crease in your forehead from having to deal with less than bright people.
You looked serene. At peace. If Luke could make sure you looked like this for the remainder of your life, he would give everything he could for it to happen.
He leans forward, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead. You hum, a smile twitching at your mouth as you lean further into the embrace of his hand. Luke grins wide and presses another kiss to your cheek. And then another to your nose. And one more to your eyelids. And then to the corner of your lips. And then-
And then his phone is buzzing in his pocket, startling him so badly that he falls backward onto his ass with a grunt. Jacks contact flashes on the screen and he grumbles.
"I'm coming," Luke whispers as he answers the phone.
"Hurry, or were gonns be late. I've already been down here for seven whole minutes."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm on my way down. Don't piss your pants." Luke grumbles. He hangs up and presses one last kiss to your forehead before he leaves.

Y/n was so excited to see Luke, they haven’t been together in person for around a month because Y/n was busy in LA filming the next season of the Evelyn Hugo series. And now that that was done filming she quickly got on the next plane to New Jersey to see the boy. She purposely told him she would be there a day later than she actually was because she wanted to surprise him.
Just now she was in the elevator of the building, Jack had told her the code to get into the apartment building so as to not alert Luke of the surprise, when she got a call from the very boy she was going to see. Fishing the phone out of her pocket and glancing at the caller ID brought a soft smile to her face, “Hey, baby.” “Hey”
She heard the sound of pots and pans crashing together in the background of the call, “What’re you doing, hun?” “I’m cooking!” “You know how to do that?” She said in a teasing voice as the elevator door opened to the boy's floor, she continued the conversation as she walked towards his door.
“Yes! I do..” His voice slightly unsure, “Sounds like you’re having trouble.” She mumbles, now at his door trying to be quiet and waiting to knock, “Well the directions are unclear.” “Well, I’ll help you.” “How-” He was cut off by the sound of knuckles knocking against his door. He mumbled a small ‘one sec’ before making his way to answer the door which made the girl laugh.
The door opened revealing the smiling girl, and the very happily shocked boy. Almost without thinking Luke brings Y/n into a big hug, lifting her off the ground with his hand under her thighs. His forehead rested against her collarbone, as if he didn’t believe she was there, like she would slip away at any moment. After a few more moments, whispering their greetings small ‘hello’s and soft ‘i love you’s coming from both.
Luke finally let the girl slip down, her feet once again finding the floor. And as Luke goes to grab his girl’s suitcase, said girl did a once over of the apartment only to see water boiling over the pot and all over the stove, “Luke!” She rushed over to the stove a took the pot of the element and turned the heat down, “Who let you cook unsupervised?” “Jack usually does it.”
He walked past her, giving her a kiss on the top of her head and walked down the hallway to his room where he set the girl’s bags down and came back to the kitchen to now find that Y/n had taken over the entire operation of making dinner.
“You’re not having boxed mac & cheese for dinner.” She muttered, shaking her head and placing the box back in the cupboard. Collecting a few things she sees in the cupboards and fridge to make him a good dinner. She found an onion, which she was very surprised by. It must have been the influence of Jack’s girlfriend.
Y/n was already cutting up the onions when Luke came back into the kitchen, and ofcourse Luke came up from behind, his hands wrapped around her waist and his chin rested on her shoulder to watch her actions. He eventually asked to help so she gave him little jobs. Then they sat on the couch, Y/n between Lukes legs as they ate dinner and ended up watching ‘10 things I hate about you’ per Y/n’s request, really it was just because she loved Luke’s reaction when she wouldn’t shut up about how hot Heath Ledger is in it.
“-and he is just, like, beyond what should be humanly capable, y’know?” Grabbing his drink from the side table, Luke says, “He’s good as the joker.” This caused the girl to let out a small laugh.
After the movie the two turned on a show, and just cuddled and talked until they would hopefully fall asleep together.
“Why do all NHL players like golf?” “I don’t know.. It’s a sport to play in summer? And I guess you don’t have to think too hard, and we can just hang out and talk?”
They were now laying across the couch, Y/n’s head on his chest, Luke’s hands running up and down the girl’s back under her shirt as ‘Bob’s burgers’ played in the background. She drew small doodles on his bicep, as they both lolled each other to sleep as they talked.
“That makes more sense than what I thought.” “What did you think?” “I thought it was because it’s the same action.. Or close.”
She didn’t expand thinking Luke understood, she assumed that was self-explanatory, but then Luke asked, “What?” “Y’know, like, shooting a puck and hitting a golf ball is the same action in the hips.” “Okay.” Luke said, softly chuckling as he brought one hand to the girl’s hair, giving her head scratches and twirling the strands between his fingers.

In which Luke calls you out.
Warnings: swearing, fighting
LUKE HUGHES!!!!! ANGST!!!!! Two of my favorite things, hope you enjoy!
————————————————————————
The week was almost over but you felt like you hadn’t achieved anything. You had completed dense readings and wrote two papers and yet an exam and a project loomed in the future. And that wasn’t including the internships you needed to apply for. Apparently they weren’t kidding when they said junior year of college was going to hit you like a ton of bricks.
Three of Luke’s attempts to set up a FaceTime date with you had gone declined, you had opted to do more work instead. Instead of watching a livestream of your boyfriend’s game, you settled for watching the highlight reel before you went to sleep, sending him a congratulatory text when he played well.
You knew long distance with Luke wouldn’t be easy but you both were willing to give it a try. Your relationship was strong when Luke was at Michigan and you thought you would be able to balance everything.
You thought wrong.
Forgotten were all the busy nights when Luke had saved you from your studies or you went to watch a movie with him in his room. Quick lunches and chats in between classes seemed so important just a year ago, but now you couldn’t bring yourself to take your mind off college.
You had sent endless apologies to Luke, which he accepted, but you still felt bad. You knew each other’s schedules pretty well so you felt bad declining his advances when he knew you didn’t have a club meeting or a class. Unfortunately, you never really had a real break due to assignments.
As you wrote in the homework for the next week in your planner, you heard other girls passing by your door. Their voices were loud as they talked about which bar to hit up first, who they were going to meet there.
You felt yourself slipping, tears forming in your eyes at the reminder that that was you. Last fall, you had the boyfriend, the friend group, the perfect schedule. Now, that had all crumbled. You hadn’t felt this alone since your first semester.
As if your body was reacting to the stress you had put it under, you felt yourself start to tremble. Your pen fell from your hand as it shook and you slumped over at your desk. You tried to breathe through the shakiness that overcame you, but it was no use.
You had pushed everyone away in hopes that you could accomplish your schoolwork and applications before you devoted time to relationships with others. Luke, especially, had hurt the most to ignore. He had never made you feel alone. Now, you felt absolutely defeated.
In the midst of your tears, you felt your desk vibrating. Lifting your head, you saw your phone sat on the charger, buzzing with a call.
“Call from Luke Hughes 🤍”
Your stomach dropped. You knew exactly what Luke was doing. About a year ago, when he had first started thinking about leaving early to play in the NHL, Luke had pushed you away, thinking it would hurt less. In an effort to save your budding relationship, you made a promise to call each other when you felt like you weren’t ready to talk face to face. If the other felt like something was wrong, a call was the way to get them to open up.
But Luke had never called you before.
Taking a deep breath, you quickly tried to gather yourself before you clicked the green answer button.
“Hey,” you croaked. You quietly tried to clear your throat so that Luke wouldn’t think something was wrong.
“Hi Y/N,” Luke said softly.
A beat went by with no conversation, so you decided to take control in an effort to steer him off his original course.
“Um, how was the game? I didn’t catch the highlights yet, I’ve just been finishing some homework.”
“On a Friday?” Luke questioned. His tone of voice was bordering on disapproving.
“Yeah, Luke,” you bit back. “I’ve been swamped with work.”
“Y/N, you’re literally the only person I know who works this hard. You can’t always be swamped with work, my god,” Luke complained. “We haven’t talked in a week, y’know.”
“I know, Luke,” you said, feeling a lump rising in your throat.
“I just don’t get it, Y/N. Things used to be so much easier. We used to actually make time for each other, and we used to-“
“Luke, don’t tell me shit I already know,” you warned. “We both knew that things would be different long distance, and we’re still figuring it out.” You knew it was a weak argument, but you felt the need to defend yourself against his fighting words. Whenever you called Luke out on his lack of communication, you never went in with criticism like this.
“No, no I will tell you because I thought we agreed to be there for each other, Y/N. You don’t even watch my games, let alone care about my well-being. It’s like you’re not even there!”
“Are you serious?” You flared. Whether it was due to Luke being the youngest sibling or just being a boy, he always knew how to push your buttons at the worst times. “You know how much I care about you, so don’t even say that, Luke.”
“Yeah well it doesn’t feel like it-it feels like I’m just another task for you now, Y/N,” Luke shouted into the phone. “I have games and practice and everything else and I still manage to talk to you!”
“Well I’m sorry that I’m still in college, trying to get a degree and an internship and every other fucking thing at the same time!” You snapped.
“See, you don’t even care that I was literally there with you, not even six months ago!” You could hear Luke slamming his hand on his desk and you imagined he had a pretty intense look on his face. This wasn’t good. “In case you forgot, I took classes and did homework too, Y/N, but I still had a social life and cared about my friends. It’s like you’re trying to act like you’re smarter than me as an excuse!”
“Fuck you, Luke!” You hadn’t meant to start yelling at Luke, especially not through the phone, but you couldn’t help it. You were at your breaking point with school and Luke was at his breaking point with you.
By now, the tears were flowing in steady streams down your face. To be pushed to the side like this by Luke was something you had never expected.
You couldn’t help the sob that escaped your throat. Once one got out, you couldn’t stop them. The weight of your relationship, school, and your future was finally crashing in on you.
“Y/N?” Luke asked. “Babe, I’m sorry.”
“No you’re not!” You mustered out through your tears. “You called me and I thought you were gonna ask me if I was okay, if I needed anything.”
“And, god, I know I haven’t been a good girlfriend or a good friend, Luke, but I’m on the verge of a fucking breakdown and, and I can barely get through each day, and I guess I just hoped you could tell,” you gasped, feeling close to the point of no return. “I hoped that you wouldn’t give up on me.”
There was silence on Luke’s end of the line.
Your heavy breathing filled in the tense space. You were acutely aware that your walls were thin and someone may have heard everything, but you couldn’t care at this point. You sniffled pitifully, full blown crying having calmed down a little.
“I’d never give up on you, Y/N,” Luke said quietly. “You know I care about you, I’d never give up on what we have.”
You felt a breath enter your lungs as he said it. Maybe there really was hope.
“For real? Because we just had a screaming match on the phone,” you let out a pitiful wet chuckle.
"Well, I did plan to call you tonight to like, actually call you out and see if you were okay but it didn't really go that way," Luke said, sheepishly. "I never wanted to make you cry, Y/N. I'm sorry."
You nodded, knowing Luke couldn't see you but feeling comfort in his intention. You took a deep breath, feeling your nerves calm.
"I mean, you weren't wrong, Luke. I haven't called you and I haven't texted, and I know it's not right but I was just so overwhelmed that I didn't want to take it out on you,” you sighed. “Everything’s been piling up and it’s hard for me to admit that I need help.”
"Y/N," Luke whined. "You know I'm here. You don't have to be stressed out all alone, babe."
"I know," you mumbled. You dragged the sleeve of your sweatshirt across your face to wipe your tears. "I miss you, Lukey. School isn’t fun when you’re not here."
Your phone started buzzing on your desk and you realized that Luke was trying to FaceTime you. You swore that boy could stay on FaceTime all day if his life depended on it. He loved just watching you through the screen, whether it was getting ready or just cooking, he enjoyed every moment of it.
“Hey babe,” he answered when you picked up. He had a small smile on his face and he looked so cute with his freshly washed hair and sweatshirt on.
“Sorry I look rank, I didn’t think we’d call tonight,” you admitted. Your hair was pulled back in an uncommitted hair style and your glasses sat on the bridge of your nose, half sliding down as you tried to wipe your eyes more.
"You look perfect, Y/N. And I miss you more, by the way," Luke countered, laughing a little. "I just want you to relax and do something other than stress about school."
“I mean, I’d like to do that too, just for the record,” you mumbled, yawning into your hand. The stress of the week was finally making you tired.
“How about you go get your nails done and go to lunch? See if Molly’s around,” Luke suggested.
You smiled at Luke on the screen. Even after your relationship was just tested, you and Luke always seemed to pull through.
“Maybe,” you replied. “I did finish my assignments for this weekend, so I could probably rela-”
“Yes! Just sent you money, I’m texting Rutger to tell Molly,” Luke rambled. Your heart warmed at the idea that he was so adamant on helping you de-stress after everything that went on this week. You watched Luke’s determined face on your phone screen as he went to work. Your boyfriend had always shown his love in actions. Luke poked away at his phone and when he was content, set the phone back up against his desk.
“Rutger said he’ll ask Molly but that she’s probably free, so you can finally leave that cave that you call a room,” he laughed.
“Oh please,” you rolled your eyes. “But thank you, that would be really fun to hang out with someone, I’ve missed doing that.”
You and Luke talked for a few more minutes, catching up on his games and his brothers. He even mentioned flying you out for a game, but that was a conversation for another day when you weren’t exhausted. It wasn’t long before your eyelids were drooping, yawns escaping your mouth frequently.
“Go to sleep, babe,” Luke said softly.
“But I want to talk to you, Lukey,” you mumbled, but also stood up to make the short walk to your bed. You climbed in under the sheets and immediately felt peace.
“Call me in the morning, okay?”
You gave a sleepy nod, and mumbled a goodnight to him. You felt better about everything you had talked about with Luke. Everything would be alright.
“Love you, Y/N,” Luke said.
“Love you, Luke, sweet dreams,” you whispered. You shut your phone off and dreamed of seeing your boyfriend again soon.
