Rachel stood silently next to her husband, casually nodding to the woman behind the counter as she held up the tofurkey. She was attempting to remain casual and not highlight the fact she had obviously planned this turkey sabotage. “Honey, don’t yell at them...it’s really not their fault.” She smiled warmly, placing a supportive hand on her husband’s shoulder. “We’ll have the best meat free thanksgiving there ever was.”

Hunter: It does not. It's actually about Layla. I searched her room and found she's sewn weights into all of her clothes and her food journal that she told me she keeps 'forgetting' to keep track of, well it's full of entries. She's barely eating.

Rachel: Oh Hunter, I'm so sorry. Have you talked to her about it? What's the plan? I can try and find a doctor? Unless you don't need a Doctor. I had noticed she seemed smaller but I thought it was just because I haven't been seeing the twins as much as I usually do. Do you think this is a real problem or a phase?

Hunter: I need you to promise me that if I tell you this, you will let me handle it and not say a word about it. Do you promise, Rachel?

Rachel: Of course I'll let you handle it...providing it doesn't include my children or husband.

Hunter: We definitely could buy fresh, but the problem is, during the change... weights could be...inserted... they'd have to be watched anyway. There's lots of ways to cheat at weigh ins. The most accurate ones are the surprise ones. No need for a powerpoint, though the clipboard would be helpful.

Rachel: Well I'm happy to watch the girls change if you want to take the boys. Why would they add weight, I thought the issue generally with Gymnasts was needing to /lose/ weight, that's why eating disorders are so rife and I hope you know I'm not judging, I understand needing certain physical attributes for your chosen talent. But it is definitely a concern in that community!

Jesse: I'd rather him be able to take a negative review instead of having to coddle him. I wasn't coddled, you weren't coddled. We both dealt with worse at his age.

Jesse: I'm not saying I don't have faith in him or anything about the show. I'm saying that I'm concerned about him because we're hiding it from him.

Rachel: Jesse...I refused to get out of bed when the reviews for Funny Girl came out and I was not a sixteen year old child. At this age he should be able to enjoy his dream without that pressure.

Rachel: I don't want his world view shattered at such a young age...

Rachel: Stop /saying/ that. He's my baby and I will treat him as he likes being treated. Every child is different, and age is just a construct. There's no rulebook to how you're supposed to treat them. Would you rather he was like Brooks? Running around doing God knows what, with no direction? Poor boy.

Rachel: He's okay. The second he isn't okay we'll pull him. I don't want him to think we don't have faith in him, or think he can't handle it.

Hunter: Hey, Rach. I need your help with weigh ins for the team. I need to get a base read on everyone's attire and how much it weighs, so I need a weight with them dressed and a weight with them undressed completely, and for obvious reasons, I don't feel like it's right for me to be weighing a bunch of naked gymnasts alone. Could you help out?

Rachel: Sure, I'm happy to help with anything! But maybe in their leotards, is that what those are called? We can even buy fresh so there's no cheating, although I don't really know how they can cheat a weigh in, but I've read some things online. Shall I do some research? Shall I make a PowerPoint? I'll bring my clipboard!

Rachel: We do /not/ treat him like he's twelve! We treat him like he is an impressionable teenager, which is /is/ and a very sensitive soul. I /like/ that he wants to be with his momma all the time. It's a good thing. He's always safe with me.

Sam: Hey Rach! Wanted to say thank you for helping me out while I'm out of town, I really appreciate it. I know you've got a lot going on but thank you for making a bit of time to help me anyway! How're you doing? How's Austin after his Broadway debut and I how's it going with college applications for Fiona?

Rachel: Of course Sam, you don't have to say thank you! Korra is perfect as always, and Eden is lovely. Very quiet but lovely. I haven't spoken to her much, but I am concerned she isn't enrolled in school yet. Should I do that? Or do we need confirmation that she is staying with you?

Rachel: ...are you alright? I don't know fully what's going on, but I can take a guess.

Jesse: He's old enough to understand, Rach.

Jesse: There is also some really bad. That is very true, which is why we need to be honest with him about the reality of this. We told him he'd be amazing no matter what, we need to tell him about how it's okay to have bad reviews and not do well.

Rachel: You underestimate my level of stubborn.

Rachel: He is sixteen. He is not old enough to be subjected to how cruel people can be, or that level of pressure. I don't want him turning into one of those famous teenagers who can't cope under the scrutiny.

Rachel: He /is/ doing well! These reviews are because he's our child. He shouldn't have to face things that are simply untrue, you've seen him perform, he doesn't deserve the harsh criticism.

Jesse: Negative comments also happen, it happened to us and it's going to happen to him more than this one time. It's the nature of reviews and freedom of speech.

Jesse: We need to not be mad at the reviews and protect him instead, that's more important right now.

Rachel: I will find a way!

Rachel: I know that and you know that...but he's too young and impressionable to know that. He shouldn't /have/ to know about negative comments yet.

Rachel: They are mostly good, he's fantastic...but it was also going to be harder for him because of who we are.

Longer hours for sure, I’m there way before sun up and way past sun down, but I love it… how are things going for you?”

“Can the world handle more of Wyatt and Layla?” Rachel joked, handing Hunter the coffee she’d brought to the gym for him. “Can you handle it? Every time I see Layla she’s always in such a hurry, she hasn’t finished an assignment in weeks, are things really that intense...I’m worried about you, if Layla is that busy, then you must be ten times that.” She paused, surveying him carefully. “How are things really Hunter? Honesty only, I will know when you’re lying to me Mr.”
