just finished watching "fail-safe", a quite good 1964 thriller that fails mostly on the grounds of reminding me of dr strangelove, which is much better! the acting is kinda hammy but the cinematography is really cool and striking, and they had (to paraphrase general turgidson) a Big Board, which was very cool. overall i would 100% recommend strangelove over fail-safe, but if you have the will to watch both it's interesting to see how more or less the same premise filmed at the same time for the same audience can come out radically different!
