Viral Interventions: Final Proposal
In this proposal, we wanted to use a sunflower field to portray our message using trumpets and a banner to show it off to passing cars. We want to keep the horror/arg aesthetic, so that it shows that there is a hidden message behind what we're doing. Throughout our proposals, we experimented with different ideas but none ended up sticking out except this idea with the sunflower field. A majority of the class ended up really enjoying this idea, so we went with it snd started created a timeline and budget. After this, we began working on our viral interventions project.

Viral Interventions: Final Documentation
Tumblr media
In our final documentation, we wanted to do an arg themed video that the public could respond to. The sunflower field we initially went to got cut down, so we filmed in the field where they were and that served for a better aesthetic that we were going for. We filmed a few videos, and blooper reels. We also asked police officers if they could use the sirens in the background of the project. We then made a youtube channel to post everything on, and everyone in the comments seemed very confused with what we were doing. The project didn't end up going viral, but I think we achieved our own goals.

Quote/Comment/Question
“Something to really think about is what makes us who we are in the world that we live in.” says the artist. “And how culture constructs and contains us.”
This quote means that culture connects artists throughout the world connect through different cultures. These cultures can also contain us, and help us communicate. I selected this one because it really inspired me with the opinions it holds. I think it means that cultures connect us wherever we are.
How do cultures help to connect us wherever we are?

For our project, we wanted to try and combine words using all the different articles we picked. The sentence we did ended up making no sense, but we rolled with it and decided to use it. We then went into the wilderness to scream our sentence to the fish in the lake. I think this sentence is nice, and the fact that it made no sense added to the context of it.

Readymade Color: Found Surfaces (Final)

For this project, I initially wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I first wanted to do cyanotypes with denim, but I wasn't able to get all the materials in time to be able to work on that idea. After thinking it through, I then decided on bleaching a pair of jeans. I used pool bleach with chlorine, which was a bit stronger than regular bleach. The pants turned completely white as a result of spraying them with the bleach mixed with water. It was a bit challenging, due ti it consistently raining and trying not to get the bleach on my own clothes. I did throughly enjoy this project, because I went home to work on it. @dimensionsspring2025tuth

For the everyday monuments project, I mostly looked for jewelry that had sank to the bottom of my jewelry box. I chose objects like rings, earrings, and for fun I added in a mini basketball and a crystal. The centerpiece of this is the brooch that I found while shopping at a thrift shop. I initially wanted to try to recreate the brooch in the middle. I wanted to do the objects circling around the brooch, because I initially thought it was the main centerpiece. My other idea was to have the objects scattered in different places like pockets, and empty rooms.

Throughout my process, I wanted to recreate the corner of a crossing I saw behind the ceramics building. This was a bit of a challenge because I was working from home and I had to be able to color match the concrete from a photo instead on on site. I do think I made the yellow too vibrant, instead of more muted like it is in person. I worked on half of it at home, and the other half when I got back to my dorm. If I were to do this project again, I would work on site and experiment with more colors to make the project easier and have it blend in more.

I had a very strange process for this project. At first I wanted to try recreating a brooch that i had, but I ended up getting frustrated with it and the finished product didn't work out. I then tried recreating a mini basketball, but I couldn't figure out how to make it a perfect circle. I ended up constructing a piece of charcoal because it was the easiest thing to come up with in the moment that I could accomplish without getting frustrated.

Everyday Monuments Final
Materials: Chicken Wire, Paper Mache, Brown Paper, Acrylic Paint, Hot Glue
For this project, we were instructed to get an object that was around three inches and size it up to 3 feet. I was very challenged doing this project. For my first attempt, I wanted to try and contruct a brooch but the shape was too complicated, and it ended up falling apart. My second attempt was an eraser, but unfortunately the edges would not stay straight and ended up curling in on itself. My third attempt was a mini basketball, that ended up smaller and I could not figure out how to curve it. I ended up getting frustrated so I picked a piece of vine charcoal to recreate. I then put brown paper on it, and painted over it. This was the easiest to do color wise, and although I am not entirely happy with the finished project, I am glad I was able to persevere and not give up on it.
